The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is worth considering in 2026 if its versatile four-camera system is your priority and the correct regional model is available at a compelling local price. Its 1-inch-type main camera and 200MP long telephoto are the draw; its bulk, region-dependent battery, mixed review findings on HDR and heat, and prior-generation status are the trade-offs. Check current pricing against newer phones before buying.
What the Xiaomi 15 Ultra offers
Xiaomi launched the 15 Ultra in China in February 2025 and overseas markets in March 2025. It is now a prior-generation model, with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra reviewed in 2026. The 15 Ultra remains a premium Android phone built around an unusually broad rear-camera setup.
Xiaomi’s global specifications list a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a 6.73-inch WQHD+ AMOLED display, 16GB of RAM and either 512GB or 1TB of storage. The rear cameras are:

How good are the cameras?
The strongest reason to choose the 15 Ultra is the range of perspectives it covers without relying on digital zoom alone. The large main sensor, shorter telephoto, high-resolution periscope camera and ultrawide give photographers more framing options than a phone with only a main camera and one zoom lens.
Reviewers including GSMArena, Stuff and Android Central praised the camera system, particularly the 200MP 100mm-equivalent telephoto and the retained 1-inch-type main sensor. Android Central, however, found HDR results inconsistent in its testing. A fair takeaway is that the hardware has excellent photographic potential, but processing may not produce equally dependable results in every challenging scene.

For video, Xiaomi lists rear-camera recording up to 8K at 30fps and 4K at 120fps. Its global product page specifically promotes 4K/120fps slow-motion recording with the main and 100mm periscope cameras. These are separate recording capabilities; do not assume every camera offers every mode. Check regional software and updates for feature availability.
What are the main drawbacks?
It is large and camera-focused
Stuff described the phone as thicker and heavier than many rivals. The prominent camera hardware and overall size make this a less natural choice for someone who wants a compact, light phone. If possible, handle the exact model before buying, especially if you often use a phone one-handed.

Battery capacity depends on the region
Xiaomi lists a typical 5,410mAh battery for the global model. TechRadar reports a 6,000mAh battery in the Chinese model, so imported and locally sold versions should not be treated as identical. The global specifications also list 90W wired and 80W wireless charging, and say the power adapter and wireless chargers are sold separately.
Battery results vary with workload, network, settings, software and region. TechRadar recorded about seven hours of screen-on time on its reviewed international device; that is a reviewer test result, not a typical-use promise. Android Central reported more than a day in its use, while Stuff said endurance fell short of class-leading. Taken together, reviewer experience suggests the global model can last a full day, but it is not a dependable pick for buyers whose main goal is maximum battery life.

Reviews differ on heat and image consistency
Android Central reported occasional overheating during a month of use, while other reviews were more positive about performance. That observation is not proof that every unit will overheat, but it is relevant if you expect sustained demanding use. The HDR inconsistency noted by Android Central likewise cautions against assuming every difficult lighting scene will be handled perfectly.

Xiaomi says the Photography Kit is sold separately. TechRadar describes it as a handgrip with a thumb grip, shutter-button caps and wrist strap, and found it improved camera handling in that reviewer’s use. It is an optional way to get a more camera-like hold and physical controls, not a requirement to use the phone’s cameras. Check the regional kit edition and compatibility before ordering.

How does it compare with newer camera phones?
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is the relevant newer Xiaomi generation. TechRadar’s 2026 review reports a 6,000mAh battery on its reviewed global 17 Ultra, compared with Xiaomi’s 5,410mAh global specification for the 15 Ultra. Capacity alone does not establish that one phone is better overall, and the available reviews do not provide a controlled, current head-to-head test across all camera phones.
Compare the exact phones and regional versions on the points that affect your use:
- Focal-length coverage and long-range image quality.
- Main-camera low-light results and HDR consistency.
- Battery endurance for the specific regional model.
- Size, weight and one-handed handling.
- Video modes and camera controls.
- Software support, local warranty and current price.
The 15 Ultra’s launch-era premium positioning is not enough to determine its value now. Check local prices and availability for the 15 Ultra and newer alternatives on the day you buy; this article does not establish a current price.
Which version should you buy?
For a locally sold global model, Xiaomi lists 5,410mAh, 90W wired charging, 80W wireless charging, 16GB RAM, and 512GB or 1TB storage. If considering an imported Chinese model, confirm the precise model and its local suitability with the seller or Xiaomi support rather than assuming that its specifications, network support or ownership terms match the global version.
- Verify supported network bands and connectivity for your carrier and region.
- Confirm local warranty coverage, seller identity and return policy.
- Check that regional software, languages and AI features meet your needs; Xiaomi cautions that availability can depend on region, local network support and language.
- Confirm what is included in the box: Xiaomi says the power adapter and wireless chargers are sold separately.
Should you buy the Xiaomi 15 Ultra?
Choose it if you want a broad, high-end rear-camera system, value the long telephoto and can find the appropriate regional version at a compelling current price. It is a weaker fit if you want the newest hardware, a compact phone, the strongest possible battery endurance, or consistently effortless HDR point-and-shoot results. The final decision is price-sensitive: compare its local offer with newer camera phones before paying a premium for older hardware.
