Quests are the broad category of Microsoft Rewards activities on Xbox. A streak is one recurring quest format—currently described by Xbox as a weekly streak available among the exclusive quests for Game Pass Premium and Ultimate members. They are not two separate currencies. Both can award Microsoft Rewards points, but the exact task, deadline, progress requirement, reset behavior and point value must be read in the live Rewards hub for your account and region.
Quests and streaks at a glance
The simplest way to understand the terminology is to treat “quest” as the umbrella term and “streak” as a particular kind of quest. Xbox describes daily, weekly and monthly quests, plus limited-time offers. Its current Rewards with Xbox page lists weekly streaks as an example of an exclusive quest for Game Pass Premium and Ultimate members.
| Comparison | Xbox quest | Xbox streak |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Any eligible Rewards activity, including daily, weekly, monthly or limited-time tasks | A recurring quest format; Xbox currently uses “weekly streaks” as an example |
| Scope | Broad category containing many activity types | One specific type of recurring activity within that category |
| Typical cadence | Daily, weekly, monthly or limited time | Described by Xbox as weekly, although the live activity text controls the actual schedule |
| Eligibility | Rewards members aged 18 and older can complete the general daily, weekly and monthly quests Xbox lists | Xbox identifies weekly streaks as an exclusive quest example for Game Pass Premium and Ultimate members |
| Reward | Microsoft Rewards points when the stated requirements are met | Microsoft Rewards points under the individual streak’s displayed rules |
| Rules | Set by each activity and shown in the Rewards hub | Do not assume a fixed consecutive-day count, bonus, reset rule or missed-day recovery method; check the activity’s instructions |
What Xbox Game Pass Quests are
The umbrella activity category
A quest is an activity that you complete to earn Microsoft Rewards points. Xbox groups quests by cadence: daily activities can be completed each day they are offered, weekly activities run on a weekly cycle, monthly activities use a longer cycle, and limited-time offers have their own availability window. The title, objective, deadline and point value belong to the individual activity rather than to the word “quest” itself.

That means two quests can look very different. One may ask you to play a selected game, while another may be tied to a Game Pass activity or an eligible purchase. A limited-time offer may disappear after its stated end date. The Rewards hub is the authoritative place to see what your account can currently complete.

Who can use the general quest program
Xbox says Rewards members aged 18 and older can complete daily, weekly and monthly quests. This is a general eligibility statement, not a promise that every activity appears for every adult account. Availability can vary by market, account status and the terms attached to a particular offer.
Game Pass membership can change which activities are available. Xbox separately identifies Premium and Ultimate benefits that include exclusive quests. Do not interpret the general 18-or-older eligibility statement as access to every exclusive activity.
What a quest earns
Eligible quests award Microsoft Rewards points when their requirements are satisfied. The displayed point amount can differ between activities and can change over time. Points are not a cash balance: Microsoft Support states that Rewards points have no cash value. Redemptions depend on the Rewards catalog and the terms that apply in your country or region.

A recurring quest format, not a second currency
In Xbox’s current public description, a streak is an example of an exclusive quest. The page specifically mentions weekly streaks alongside monthly packs for Game Pass Premium and Ultimate members. Therefore, a streak sits inside the quest system; it does not replace quests, create a separate point type or represent an automatic subscription rebate.
The word “streak” suggests that the activity tracks repeated completion over a sequence or recurring period. However, Xbox’s public page does not publish one universal ruleset for every streak. A particular streak may have its own required action, time window, progress display and claim instruction. Read those details instead of applying rules from an older streak or another market.

Why fixed streak claims are risky
Do not assume that every streak lasts a particular number of days, grants a standard bonus, resets at the same time, or can be repaired after a missed task. Those details are activity-specific and may change. The live Rewards hub should tell you the current requirement and any consequence of missing a period.
Similarly, do not assume that seeing one streak means every Game Pass member sees it. Xbox names weekly streaks as an exclusive quest example for Premium and Ultimate members, while the precise availability of an offer can depend on region and account.
Do you need Game Pass Premium or Ultimate for streaks?
For the streak example Xbox currently advertises, Premium and Ultimate membership matters: Xbox says those tiers unlock exclusive quests such as weekly streaks. General daily, weekly and monthly quests remain available to Rewards members aged 18 and older under the applicable terms.
| Account situation | What Xbox’s published description supports | What you still need to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Rewards member, age 18 or older | Can complete the general daily, weekly and monthly quests that are offered to the account | Which activities are available in your market and their current requirements |
| Game Pass Premium member | Eligible for exclusive quest examples, including weekly streaks listed by Xbox | Whether a particular streak is active for your account, its task and its deadline |
| Game Pass Ultimate member | Eligible for the same type of exclusive quest examples listed by Xbox | Current activity text, regional availability and any tier-specific terms |
| Other Game Pass or non-subscriber account | Should not be assumed to receive the Premium/Ultimate-exclusive streak example | The Rewards hub, which shows the activities actually available |
Xbox also says Ultimate members can earn at higher rates on some gameplay and eligible Store purchase activities. Because rates and offers can change, rely on the live activity card and official terms rather than treating a published example as a guaranteed rate.
How Microsoft Rewards points work
Points are promotional rewards, not money
Completing a quest adds Microsoft Rewards points when the displayed conditions are met. Microsoft Support says those points have no cash value. Their practical value comes from the redemption options shown in the Rewards catalog, which can differ by country or region and can change.

Expiration through inactivity
Microsoft Support states that points expire after 12 months with no earning activity. This is an inactivity rule, not a statement that every point disappears 12 months after the day it was earned. Earning activity can affect the inactivity period, while separate redemption terms may apply to a particular reward.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Regional limits and changing terms
Microsoft says daily limits and terms vary by country or region. A quest, point amount or redemption option shown to one member may not appear for another member elsewhere. Treat the country or region associated with your Rewards account as part of the offer’s terms.
Where to find current quests and streaks
Use the Rewards hub rather than a remembered list or an old walkthrough. Xbox directs members there to see which quests are available now. The hub’s activity card should be your source for the current name, eligibility, progress, deadline and claim instructions.
- Open the Rewards hub associated with your Xbox or Microsoft account. Sign in to the account that holds your Game Pass and Rewards membership.
- Review the available activity cards. Look for daily, weekly, monthly, limited-time and any exclusive entries. A streak may be labeled as a weekly streak or appear within an exclusive-quest area.
- Read the full activity text before starting. Note the required game, action, time period, eligible platform and whether a separate “claim” action is required after progress is recorded.
- Check eligibility and timing. Confirm that the activity is available to your account and record its displayed deadline. Do not infer timing from an older quest.
- Complete the requirement as written. Use the account and platform identified by the activity. If the card names a particular title, mode or action, completing a different activity may not count.
- Return to the hub and verify progress. Allow time for the activity to update, then check whether it shows completion or a claim control.
- Claim when the card instructs you to do so. A completed action and a claimed reward are not necessarily the same step; follow the card’s wording.
An Xbox Wire guide published on November 17, 2020 described access through the Game Pass mobile app and the Game Pass section on console. That is historical interface context, not a guarantee that today’s menus use the same labels or location. Current navigation should come from the live Rewards experience.
How to read a streak’s instructions
Because “streak” is a format rather than a universal ruleset, inspect each card for these details:

- Cadence: whether the activity is described as weekly or uses another recurring period.
- Required action: the exact game, gameplay event, purchase or other qualifying activity.
- Progress measure: what the hub counts and how completion is displayed.
- Deadline: the date or time by which the current period must be completed.
- Reset behavior: whether progress starts a new cycle automatically and when that occurs.
- Missed-period treatment: whether a missed task ends the sequence, pauses it or has another result. Do not assume recovery is available.
- Claim step: whether points are awarded automatically or require selecting a claim button.
- Tier and market restrictions: any wording limiting the activity to Premium, Ultimate or a particular region.
If one of these items is absent from the public Xbox description, the absence is meaningful: there is no published universal rule you can safely substitute. Use the instructions shown in your own hub.

A streak does not appear
- Check whether the activity is identified as a Premium or Ultimate exclusive and confirm the subscription on the signed-in account.
- Verify that your Rewards account meets the stated age and regional requirements.
- Refresh the Rewards hub and check the activity’s availability window; a limited offer may have ended.
- Use the account that owns the Game Pass and Rewards memberships rather than a different console profile.
Gameplay is not being credited
- Reopen the activity card and compare your action with its exact wording.
- Confirm that you are using the eligible game, platform or mode named by the card.
- Return to the hub after completing the action and allow the progress display to update.
- Check whether the activity requires a separate claim after the progress reaches its target.
The activity expired before completion
Once the displayed deadline passes, do not assume the same activity can be completed retroactively. Look for the next cycle or a newly posted activity. A new streak may have different instructions from the previous one.
The points total looks different from an article or video
Point values, daily limits and terms can vary by country or region and can change over time. Compare your current activity card and Rewards balance with the source’s date and market before treating the difference as an error.
You completed a task but received no visible points
First check the card’s completion and claim states, then confirm that the action was performed on the qualifying account. If the hub still does not update, use the support route provided in the Rewards experience and retain the activity name, displayed deadline and completion details.

Should you subscribe just for streaks?
Xbox’s published description establishes an eligibility relationship, not a financial guarantee. Premium and Ultimate unlock exclusive quest examples such as weekly streaks, while general quests are available to eligible Rewards members. Whether an upgrade makes sense depends on the Game Pass benefits you already want; Rewards points should not be treated as cash or as a promise that a subscription will pay for itself.

Before changing plans, open the Rewards hub and confirm that the exclusive activity is currently visible to your account. Check its actual point value, schedule and requirements, then compare those facts with the subscription’s price and the other Game Pass features you would use.
What changed since the original Game Pass quest guides?
The November 17, 2020 Xbox Wire guide presented Game Pass Quests as a way to earn Microsoft Rewards points that could be redeemed through the Microsoft Store or for charity donations. It also described access through the Game Pass mobile app and the console’s Game Pass section.
That dated explanation is useful background, but it should not override the current Rewards hub. Xbox’s present terminology emphasizes Rewards with Xbox, separates general quests from exclusive quest examples and directs members to the live hub for available activities. Menus, membership names, point values and task rules can change, so older screenshots and fixed streak schedules are not reliable instructions for a current account.

When deciding what you are looking at, ask one question: is this the general category of activity or a named recurring format? If it is a daily, weekly, monthly or limited-time Rewards activity, it is a quest. If Xbox labels it as a streak, it is a recurring quest with its own progress and timing rules. Both use Microsoft Rewards points, and neither term alone tells you the exact task or payout.
For current actions, the Rewards hub outranks general explanations. It shows whether the activity is available, which Game Pass tier or region applies, what counts toward progress, when the period ends and how to claim the result.
