Wyze Scale BodyScan is worth considering if you want more than a conventional foot-only smart scale without paying for a specialist device. Its handle and eight electrodes estimate body composition in the arms, legs and torso, while the scale itself shows seven measurements and the Wyze app stores all 17 metrics. The important qualification is that these are bioelectrical-impedance estimates for tracking trends, not medical diagnoses.
What the Wyze BodyScan does
BodyScan uses dual-frequency, eight-electrode bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). You stand barefoot on the scale and hold its built-in handle so electrical measurements can be taken through both hands and both feet. That arrangement enables segmental estimates for the arms, legs and torso instead of relying only on a current passing between the feet.
Wyze describes it as its most affordable eight-electrode BIA scale. The product tracks 17 body-composition metrics in total. Seven appear on the scale’s 4.7-inch LED display; the Wyze app provides the complete breakdown and historical tracking.
What is included and who can use it
- Weight capacity: 11–400 lb (5–180 kg).
- Four AAA batteries are included; Wyze rates battery life at up to nine months.
- Up to eight users can be recognized automatically.
- One-off guest measurements are supported.
- Baby, pet and luggage modes allow the same scale to weigh items or people who do not need a permanent profile.
Those household features make BodyScan more practical for a family than a scale tied to a single account. The nine-month battery figure is a manufacturer rating, so actual life depends on measurement frequency, wireless use and battery quality.

How to get a full body-composition reading
- Place the scale on a hard, flat floor. Carpets and rugs can affect calibration.
- Step on with both feet bare and positioned on the foot electrodes.
- Lift and hold the handle so your hands contact its electrodes.
- Remain still until the measurement completes. Wearing shoes provides weight only, not the full body-composition analysis.
- Open the Wyze app to see the complete set of 17 metrics and track changes over time.
Consistent conditions matter more than any single reading. Measuring at roughly the same time and under similar hydration and clothing conditions can make trend data easier to interpret, although it cannot turn BIA into a clinical test.
Connectivity and health-platform support
BodyScan connects to the Wyze app over Bluetooth. Wyze lists support for Apple Health, Health Connect and Fitbit, so compatible measurements can flow into those platforms rather than remaining isolated in the Wyze app. The scale itself can display seven metrics, reducing the need to reach for a phone for every weigh-in, while the app remains necessary for the full 17-metric view and longer-term history.

BodyScan versus Wyze Scale X
| Capability | Wyze BodyScan | Wyze Scale X |
|---|---|---|
| Electrode arrangement | Eight electrodes: handle plus hands and feet | Four-electrode, foot-only design |
| Body coverage | Segmental estimates for arms, legs and torso | Foot-to-foot measurements; no handle-based segment reading stated |
| Metrics | 17 total; seven shown on the scale’s display | Comparable total not stated |
| On-device display | 4.7-inch LED display | Comparable display specification not stated |
| Connectivity | Bluetooth, Wyze app, Apple Health, Health Connect and Fitbit | Not stated here |
| Users and modes | Up to eight recognized users; guest, baby, pet and luggage modes | Not stated here |
| Price evidence | USD 79.98 launch price in Wyze’s June 22, 2026 forum announcement; CAD 119.98 on the Canadian Wyze storefront in 2026 | Not stated here |
The practical difference is measurement coverage. Scale X’s four-electrode, foot-only approach can provide routine weight and composition tracking, whereas BodyScan adds hand contact and segment-level estimates. That extra detail is useful if you want to watch changes in individual limbs and torso, but it should not be mistaken for a hospital-grade assessment.

BIA estimates electrical impedance and combines it with profile information to calculate body-fat and related values. Hydration, food, exercise, skin contact and foot placement can all influence the result. Wyze states that home-use smart scales are designed for reference and that readings may differ from professional medical instruments or methods.

- Use the numbers to follow direction and personal trends, not to diagnose a condition.
- Do not treat a sudden change as proof of a physiological change without considering hydration, timing and repeat measurements.
- For clinical decisions, use a qualified clinician and an appropriate medical measurement method.
The handle improves electrode coverage, not certainty. Marketing language about affordability or advanced electrodes does not establish clinical certification.

Wyze listed a USD 79.98 launch price in a June 22, 2026 forum announcement. Its Canadian storefront listed the scale at CAD 119.98 in 2026. These are region- and date-specific figures, so shoppers should check the current local listing, shipping and taxes before buying; those listings do not establish a universal or permanent price.
Rank #4
At that budget positioning, BodyScan’s strongest value is the combination of eight-electrode coverage, an on-device display, household profiles and broad app integration. Someone who only needs body weight may not use the extra sensors, while someone expecting laboratory accuracy should choose a clinical assessment instead.

Quick Recap
Best Value
- It can be a gift option
- Comes with secure packaging
- Helpful in various ways
Who should buy it?
- Good fit: households that want one Bluetooth scale, multiple profiles, guest and pet modes, and more granular trend data than a foot-only model.
- Less suitable: users who need diagnostic measurements, people unable to stand barefoot and hold the handle safely, or buyers who want a permanently wired or rechargeable device rather than AAA batteries.
- Best practice: treat the 17 metrics as a consistent personal dashboard and pair the scale with professional advice when a health decision depends on the result.
