To enable or disable the www prefix in manual mode, open the website’s General settings, switch Use WWW Prefix on or off, then update the website.

Change the WWW prefix setting

  1. Open the website in the manual-mode editor.
  2. Click the ellipsis menu on the left side of the editor, then choose General settings.
  3. Switch Use WWW Prefix on to use a www prefix in the website URLs, or off to omit it.
  4. Update the website to apply the preference. The setting instructions say the website URLs will reflect the selected preference.

Manual mode generally saves many changes automatically; when a change needs a manual save, a Save button appears. The editor also has a separate Publish option. The instructions for this particular toggle call for updating the website but do not detail every save or publish transition.

What the choice changes—and what it does not establish

The preference selects whether the website URLs use a form such as www.example.com or example.com. www is a subdomain commonly used as a prefix, and no standard or policy requires websites to use it.

The setting guide does not specify whether changing the toggle creates redirects, changes canonical tags, alters DNS records, or affects existing search indexing. Do not assume those outcomes from the preference alone. Domain connection and DNS setup are separate matters; connection methods and DNS propagation are not the effects of this toggle.

Choose one URL form and check the domain setup

Enable the prefix if you want the site’s preferred URL form to include www; disable it if you prefer the version without it. If you are unsure how a particular domain resolves, check its actual domain and DNS configuration rather than treating the editor preference as proof of a redirect or DNS change.
