To use Write with Siri on an iPhone, select text and tap the Siri AI icon, then ask Siri to proofread or rewrite it—or activate Siri and describe a writing task from scratch. The feature is in beta and requires a compatible iPhone, supported language settings, and an eligible region.
What Write with Siri can do
Apple’s iPhone guide describes Siri AI (Beta) as a way to compose, rewrite, proofread, and give feedback on writing. You can use it to polish text you have already written or ask Siri to create or reshape content, such as a story, a recipe format, or condensed meeting notes.

Use Siri AI on text you have already written
- Select the text you want to work on in an app or other writing surface.
- Tap the Siri AI icon.
- Choose Proofread or Rewrite, or describe the change you want in your own words. For feedback, you could ask, “How’s this sound?”
- If you chose Rewrite, tap Compare to review the suggested version against your original text.
Ask Siri to start a writing task
- Activate Siri on your iPhone.
- Say what you want it to do. For example, ask it to write a story, format a recipe, or condense meeting notes.
- Review the response. Swipe down on it to continue the conversation, ask a follow-up, or refine the result.
Check whether your iPhone and settings are eligible
Apple says Siri AI is in beta on iOS 27 or later. Its setup guidance lists iPhone 15 Pro models and later, iPhone 16 models or later, and iPhone Air as compatible hardware. Siri AI is English-first, and the iPhone guide says it will not initially be available in the EU on iOS.

Enabling Siri AI may put you on a waitlist; Apple says the download starts automatically after the wait. Availability can therefore depend on more than the iOS version and iPhone model.

Apple notes that server-side features may have usage limits and that daily limits can vary. The supported-language list for Apple Intelligence generally should not be taken as confirmation that every Siri AI writing capability works in every listed language.
If Siri AI is unavailable
Try Apple’s Writing Tools instead. Apple says Writing Tools can write, rewrite, proofread, and summarize in most places you write, including third-party apps and websites. Which option you can use depends on availability and the writing surface; Siri AI is the feature that lets you invoke writing assistance through Siri or the Siri AI icon.
