WoW: Forever PvP uses two separate progression systems: Honor, a currency you spend on PvP gear, and Rank Points, which advance your character through a rank track with a weekly cap. You can join battlegrounds through a Battlemaster in a major city or a battleground portal, according to a Forever-specific guide; Blizzard’s rank rewards run from a tabard at Rank 1 to epic weapons at Rank 14. Weekly seasonal tasks award Honor and Rank Points, and three tasks per season also award a Legacy Point.
Some practical details—such as the queue route, battleground marks, and Darkspear Islands objectives—come from a third-party guide, while Blizzard’s announcement establishes the progression design and reward ladder. Because live implementation can change, check the current in-game PvP tab and queue interface before relying on a precise rule.
How do Honor and Rank Points differ?
Blizzard describes Forever PvP progression as two connected systems: Honor and Rank Points. They are related, but they are not interchangeable. Honor is a spendable currency. Rank Points move your character through the rank track, and rank in turn determines which rank-gated items you can purchase. Blizzard says Honor is earned by defeating other players, completing battlegrounds, and finishing relevant PvP quests; Rank Points come from activities including battlegrounds and PvP quests. Holiday-week battlegrounds provide a boost to both. Blizzard’s progression announcement does not provide exact activity payouts or a numerical Rank Point schedule.
- Honor answers: What PvP currency can I spend on gear?
- Rank Points answer: How far have I progressed along the rank track, and which rank-gated purchases have I unlocked?
Blizzard says it adjusted Honor acquisition so players would not be pushed toward Alterac Valley solely because it was the most efficient option. That is a design goal, not a guarantee that every battleground or activity gives identical rewards. The announcement does not publish comparative payouts, so it is not possible to calculate an optimal activity from the confirmed figures here.

Where do I queue for battlegrounds?
A Forever-specific Wowhead PvP overview, updated October 11, 2026, lists two ways to queue: use a battleground portal at its location in the world, or speak to a Battlemaster in a major city. The guide names Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, Alterac Valley, and Darkspear Islands as available battlegrounds. Since the official progression announcement does not document these queue instructions, use the current in-game UI to confirm the route and available battlegrounds on your character.
- Go to a major city and look for a Battlemaster, or travel to the location of a battleground portal.
- Use the Battlemaster or portal to open the queue interface and select an available battleground.
- Check the in-game queue listing for current availability and any character-specific restrictions before joining.
The cited sources do not establish level brackets, whether solo and premade groups enter the same matching pool, cross-realm queue rules, or typical queue times. Those details may depend on the live implementation and should not be inferred from the battleground list alone.
What happens in Darkspear Islands?
The Wowhead Forever guide describes Darkspear Islands as a 15-versus-15 battleground. Teams score by controlling capture positions, which accumulate points. A flag at the center can also be carried to a point your team controls for an immediate score. This makes the battleground’s described objectives a combination of maintaining control and making a flag run, rather than simply fighting over one central location.

According to the same guide, participation builds faction-linked reputation: Alliance players gain reputation with the Theramore Expeditionary Force, while Horde players gain reputation with the Darkspear Raiders. The guide says reputation milestones offer gear rewards, but the cited details do not list the milestone amounts or specific items. Check the live reputation and reward panels for those particulars.
What do battleground wins, losses, and Marks of Honor give?
The Wowhead overview reports that a battleground win awards three Marks of Honor and bonus Honor, while a loss awards one Mark. The guide says Marks can be spent on some PvP gear or exchanged for experience and reputation. These mark and payout details are from the third-party guide, not Blizzard’s official progression announcement; treat them as reported guidance and verify the current battleground result screen or vendor options in game.
Marks are distinct from Honor in the terminology used by that guide. Do not assume that one Mark equals a fixed amount of Honor, or that Marks count as Rank Points: neither equivalence is established in the cited material. The guide identifies possible uses for Marks but does not give exchange rates or a complete list of eligible gear.

How does rank progression work, and is there a weekly cap?
Rank Points advance a character through ranks based on the original WoW rank structure. Blizzard confirms that ranks have a weekly cap, retaining the foundation of the original system while making the journey more accessible. That confirms a limit exists, but the announcement does not state the cap amount, Rank Point thresholds, rank-by-rank schedule, or catch-up rules. It also does not specify decay, title permanence, or how progress is affected by missed weeks. Avoid planning around numerical cap or threshold estimates unless the live game or a current official update supplies them.
The rank track leads toward the faction titles High Warlord for Horde characters and Grand Marshal for Alliance characters. The character pane’s PvP tab shows your rank, current Rank Points, and purchases available at your rank, according to Blizzard. This is the most direct in-game place to check individual progress and rank-gated access; it is more reliable for your character’s current state than a general reward summary.
Which rewards unlock at each rank?
Blizzard’s announced ladder has 14 rank reward levels. The table lists the reward at each rank as stated in the announcement. Where an entry contains a slash, the announcement lists both the item and an upgrade token at that rank; it does not mean you must choose only one unless the live vendor UI says so.

This is the rank-gated ladder, not a complete item catalog: the announcement does not provide item names, stats, costs, class restrictions, or a list of all vendor stock. Blizzard separately says Honor buys one blue-quality PvP gear set and one epic-quality set. To obtain an epic piece, a player needs its blue version plus an Emboldened Seal, and the seals have rank requirements. Check the PvP tab and the relevant vendor for the particular item, currency cost, and seal requirement rather than assuming rank alone supplies the item.
Blizzard also says it added or reworked items to address specialization gaps, citing Shaman healer, melee, and caster PvP sets as an example. That is a signal that itemization is not necessarily a single generic set for every role; inspect the actual available pieces for your specialization.

Each PvP season includes a journey with weekly tasks tied to the Legacy System. Completing tasks awards both Honor and Rank Points. Three tasks during each season also award a Legacy Point. Blizzard says the tasks remain available in future seasons, so they are intended to persist rather than disappear permanently when a season ends.

The official post does not state the season duration, exact task requirements, the total number of tasks, or which three tasks award Legacy Points. It also does not say whether a task can be completed in any battleground or whether specific activities are required. Use the live season journey to see the active objectives and track completion; do not assume that an unlisted activity will satisfy a task.
How should I plan progress without a published cap schedule?
You can make decisions around the confirmed systems without guessing at hidden numbers. Start by checking your PvP tab, which displays current rank progress and purchases available at your rank. Then review the season journey for weekly objectives, and decide whether an activity advances the currencies or rewards you currently need. If Honor gear is the goal, consider the currency and any required blue item or Emboldened Seal; if a rank unlock is the goal, track Rank Points rather than treating Honor as a substitute.
- For a rank unlock: monitor Rank Points and the rank shown in the PvP tab. The numerical weekly cap and thresholds are not supplied in Blizzard’s announcement.
- For a gear purchase: check whether the item is part of the Honor sets, requires a blue predecessor, or needs a rank-gated Emboldened Seal.
- For seasonal progress: read each weekly task in the journey panel and confirm its completion there. Three tasks per season award a Legacy Point, but the specific tasks are not enumerated in the announcement.
- For battleground choice: Blizzard’s stated adjustment aims to avoid making Alterac Valley the sole efficient choice; exact rewards by activity are not published in the announcement.
This approach separates what is visible on your character from what has not been publicly quantified. A weekly limit does not, by itself, reveal whether you can catch up later, whether progress decays, or how many weeks a particular rank will take.
Which details remain unconfirmed in the cited announcements?
Blizzard’s announcement explains the currencies, broad earning sources, weekly cap, gear structure, reward ladder, and seasonal task concept. It does not specify level brackets, solo-versus-premade matchmaking, cross-realm queue pools, queue times, exact Rank Point thresholds or weekly caps, catch-up rules, decay, title permanence, or season duration. For a specific live-rule question, use the current in-game interface or an official update rather than treating an omission as proof that a rule does not exist.
The Forever guide adds practical queue and battleground details, including Marks of Honor and Darkspear Islands, but those claims are third-party reporting. They can help you know what to look for in game; they should not override current UI behavior if an implementation detail has changed.
