“WoW Classic Plus” is the name many readers use for Blizzard’s newly announced experience, but Blizzard’s official name for it is World of Warcraft: Forever. Blizzard says the game returns players to the original continents, begins in the period after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core, and takes characters to level 60 before continuing with new stories, experiences, and updates. Its announced launch date is November 4, 2026, with beta scheduled to start September 17, 2026. The announcement does not provide a complete content roadmap or all the details players may want about classes, races, and progression.
What is WoW Classic Plus?
“Classic Plus” is a useful shorthand for the kind of experience players are asking about: a version of classic-era World of Warcraft that preserves the original setting while adding or changing content. It is not the official product name established in Blizzard’s announcement. Blizzard calls the new permanent experience World of Warcraft: Forever, or WoW: Forever.
Blizzard presents Forever as a new home alongside modern World of Warcraft and the existing Classic experiences. Its framing emphasizes the original world and the journey through it, while also promising new stories, experiences, and updates beyond the original level-60 adventure. Blizzard describes its priorities this way: “the world takes center stage, community comes first, and the journey matters as much as the destination.” That is a statement of direction, not a detailed feature list or a guarantee about a particular endgame schedule.

The announced setting sits after the events of Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core. Players return to the original continents and adventure toward level 60. Blizzard says the experience continues from there, but has not supplied a full sequence of future content, a release cadence, or a detailed account of what the post-level-60 game will contain.

How does progression work?
The level-60 journey
Blizzard’s overview identifies level 60 as the initial progression destination. It does not describe a higher level cap, nor does it say that level 60 is the permanent limit for every phase of the game. Instead, the announcement says players can continue into new stories, experiences, and updates after reaching it. That distinction matters: level 60 is the stated target for the original-continent adventure, while the shape of later progression remains unspecified.
There is not yet enough official detail to map out a complete leveling route, expected playtime, raid schedule, or sequence of post-launch releases. In particular, the announcement does not establish how often updates will arrive or whether later stories will be delivered in a fixed expansion-like cadence. Treat those questions as unanswered rather than inferring a schedule from another WoW mode.
Legacy: progression across characters
Forever also introduces Legacy, an account-wide system tied to character progression. Blizzard’s product page says: “WoW: Forever’s Legacy system rewards account-wide benefits every time you progress a character’s adventure.” The important distinction is between the character making progress and the account receiving benefits: the system is described as account-wide, rather than as rewards that apply only to the character that earned them.
Rank #2
The overview does not specify which benefits Legacy grants, how much progress triggers them, whether rewards are shared equally across characters, or whether any benefits affect power, convenience, or cosmetics. It also gives no numerical values or unlock table. Until Blizzard publishes those mechanics, it is reasonable to understand Legacy as a cross-character progression feature, but not to assume that it removes the need to level individual characters or makes them identical in power.
Which new races and class combinations are announced?
Blizzard’s overview names the Skyborne as a new race. It also calls out two new race-class combinations: Forsaken Paladin and Dwarf Shaman. These are the specifically identified additions; the announcement does not provide a complete race-and-class eligibility matrix.
That means players should not assume that these examples establish every new pairing or that other race-class combinations are available. The detailed restrictions, starting experiences, racial abilities, and any additional combinations are not established in the overview. The Skyborne are presented as a new race, while Forsaken Paladin and Dwarf Shaman are presented as new combinations; those descriptions do not, by themselves, answer every character-creation question.
Are classes and specializations changing?
Yes, Blizzard says classes and specializations are being revamped. Its announcement encourages players to choose a familiar class or try another, which signals that the class experience is part of Forever’s redesign rather than simply an unchanged return to the original rules.

Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteHowever, the overview does not give class-by-class patch notes, talent changes, specialization details, or balance numbers. It therefore supports the broad conclusion that class and specialization changes are planned, but not a prediction about which class will be strongest, how a particular build will work, or whether a familiar role will play the same way. Those answers require the detailed class information that is not included in the overview.
What other systems are being updated?
Alongside Legacy and class changes, Blizzard lists updates to Camping, Professions, and Honor. The announcement establishes that these systems are in scope for changes, but does not explain their mechanics. It does not specify what Camping does, which profession recipes or progression rules will change, or how Honor rewards and advancement will be tuned.
Rank #4
For now, the useful takeaway is that Forever is not described solely as a new leveling zone or a new race pack: Blizzard also identifies changes to broader character and world systems. But until the mechanics are published, players should avoid treating the names of those systems as evidence of specific features, rewards, or numerical adjustments.
How is WoW: Forever different from Season of Discovery and Anniversary Classic?
Blizzard describes Season of Discovery and Anniversary Classic as separate existing Classic modes, not as alternate names for Forever. Season of Discovery adds content to the original experience, while Anniversary Classic is described as the original experience within a particular time period. Those distinctions help place Forever in context, but they do not make any of the modes interchangeable.
| Mode | Blizzard’s description | What the available overview establishes |
|---|---|---|
| World of Warcraft: Forever | A new permanent experience alongside modern and Classic WoW. | Returns to the original continents; begins after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core; adventures to level 60 and continues with new stories and updates. Adds the Skyborne, named new race-class combinations, class and specialization revamps, Legacy, and other system updates. |
| Season of Discovery | The original experience with new content. | Blizzard’s launch description names Rune Engraving, class-altering abilities, new activities, and phase-specific level caps and content. |
| Anniversary Classic | The original experience within a specific time period. | The cited mode description distinguishes it from Season of Discovery; the overview does not provide further feature details for a deeper comparison. |
The practical comparison is that Season of Discovery is described in terms of additions to the original experience, including Rune Engraving and phase-based content, while Forever is announced as a separate permanent experience with its own setting, character options, class changes, and Legacy system. Blizzard’s high-level description of Anniversary Classic is different again. The available information does not establish that Forever is simply a renamed Season of Discovery or Anniversary Classic, or that it will inherit either mode’s rules.

When does WoW: Forever launch, and how do you get access?
Blizzard announced November 4, 2026 as the launch date and September 17, 2026 as the beta start date. These are announced dates, not a guarantee that schedules or access terms cannot change. As of October 13, 2026, the announced beta start date has passed and the announced launch date is still ahead; the overview alone does not confirm the live status of beta enrollment or whether the schedule has since changed.
Blizzard says access at launch is included with a World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time. The announcement also describes optional upgrades and edition-specific beta access as purchase benefits. That means the stated access model does not require every player to buy an upgrade to play at launch; an upgrade may offer additional benefits, and beta eligibility was attached to eligible editions in the purchase announcement. Check Blizzard’s current terms for the edition and access details in effect when you sign up or purchase.
What is not confirmed yet?
Blizzard’s overview provides the broad shape of Forever, but it does not settle every practical question. The most important open details are:

- The full race-class matrix and any restrictions beyond the Skyborne, Forsaken Paladin, and Dwarf Shaman details named in the overview.
- The precise mechanics for Camping, Professions, and Honor.
- Any changes to the announced launch or beta dates, and the current terms for optional editions.
These are details the announcement does not establish, not evidence that Blizzard will never provide them. Until a fuller official breakdown is available, it is more accurate to separate what has been named from what remains undecided in public information than to fill in gaps using assumptions from another Classic mode.
Is there a Collector’s Edition?
Blizzard announced a physical World of Warcraft: Forever Collector’s Edition through the Blizzard Gear Store. Blizzard describes it as including physical keepsakes and a digital code for the Warcraft Forever Collection. The announcement establishes the existence of that product path, but it does not confirm an Amazon listing or establish availability through other retailers. Availability and terms may depend on the current store listing.
