If a Cloudflare Worker imports a .wasm file, its deployable package must include the matching binary as well as the JavaScript loader that references it. With Wrangler, confirm that both appear in the deployment output before uploading; use an explicit module rule if the binary is not included through the project’s existing bundling setup.
What the package needs
Cloudflare Workers supports importing .wasm and .wasm?module files as WebAssembly.Module modules. The loader and the module it imports are separate parts of the package: a loader that refers to a binary that is missing from the deployment output cannot provide that binary at runtime. Cloudflare’s bundling documentation shows the import and instantiation pattern.
Keep the generated JavaScript entrypoint and the matching Wasm file together in the build output Wrangler will deploy. The import path in the loader must correspond to the module’s packaged path. Treat this as a packaging check, not a requirement for a checksum or a particular build layout.

Start with standard bundling
Wrangler bundling is enabled by default. First check whether the project’s existing imports and build configuration already cause the binary to be included. Wrangler’s bundling configuration reference documents additional modules and accepts CompiledWasm as a rule type, with file globs to select files.

Add a module rule when discovery is insufficient
If the Wasm file is not part of the generated package, configure Wrangler to include it as a compiled Wasm module. Use a glob that matches the intended binary, and keep the loader’s import consistent with the packaged file. The exact rule and path depend on the project’s directory structure; the configuration reference describes the supported rule format.
Account for no-bundle builds
If you invoke Wrangler with --no-bundle, Wrangler will not process the code, and bundler-dependent features will be unavailable. In that workflow, make sure the build itself produces the complete output Wrangler is given, including the loader and its Wasm dependency. Cloudflare describes this distinction in its bundling documentation.

Verify the deployment package before uploading

Run Wrangler’s documented dry run:

Compare the loader’s import path with the module’s location in that output. If the binary is absent or the paths do not correspond, adjust the build output or Wrangler module rules before deploying.

After correcting the package, run the dry run again and review the resulting output before carrying out a deployment.

Cloudflare documents the dry-run command in its Wrangler deploy command reference. Inspecting the paired loader and binary is a practical verification step; the documentation does not prescribe a checksum scheme.
Rust Worker builds
For projects using workers-rs, Cloudflare describes worker-build as generating the JavaScript entrypoint, bundling JavaScript, and producing a directory Wrangler can deploy. Confirm that Wrangler is deploying that generated directory and that it contains the Wasm module the Worker needs. Cloudflare also cautions that unoptimized Rust Wasm can be large, so optimization may matter to package size. See the Rust Workers documentation.

Wasm loading limitation
Cloudflare states that “Cloudflare Workers does not support WebAssembly.instantiateStreaming().” Use the import and instantiation approach documented for Workers rather than relying on that API. See the bundling documentation.
