Workday announced on October 13, 2026, that Sana is becoming the new Workday Home: a natural-language interface designed to bring employee tasks, decisions, meetings, and agent activity into one place. The company also introduced Sana Concierge, an employee service agent for HR and IT. Workday said the new Home was available immediately, while Concierge was still in early access, with general availability expected in the first quarter of 2027.
What Workday announced
The new Workday Home is intended to let employees ask for information or action in everyday language, then have Workday agents coordinate tasks across HR, finance, and IT. Workday describes the experience as a shift from navigating separate screens toward a single interface that adapts to the task.
That interface may present interactive forms, calendars, approval cards, visualizations, or other task-specific elements. Workday’s examples include viewing paycheck amount and date or using a calendar to schedule something or request leave. These are capabilities described by Workday; the announcement does not provide independent testing of their performance across customer deployments.

What Sana Concierge does
Sana Concierge is a service agent for employee HR and IT requests. Workday says it combines earlier self-service functions and Sana for IT Service Management with Workday Help and Case Agent. The announcement’s examples include onboarding and offboarding, leave, payroll questions, password resets, and application access.
Workday’s illustrative leave question is: “I’m expecting a baby in November. How much time do I get, how will my pay work, and what do I need to do next?” The company presents this as a request that could bring together policy information, employee data, payroll, and approvals. It is an example from Workday, not evidence about the most common employee query.
When a case requires human judgment, Workday says Concierge can pass the case history and recommended next steps to a specialist. The announcement describes this as part of the service flow; it does not establish how consistently that handoff works in practice.

Availability may depend on an organization’s configuration and commercial arrangement. Workday’s March 17, 2026 launch said Sana for Workday and the Sana Self-Service Agent were available to Workday customers through Flex Credits, without an extra license or separate paywall. It also said Sana Enterprise was available with Workday HCM or Financial Management and through Flex Credits. That release does not specify a universal credit allotment or customer cost; organizations need to check their own Workday terms.
How this fits Workday’s Sana strategy
Workday completed its acquisition of Sana on November 4, 2025. At the time, it said it planned to combine Sana’s enterprise search, agents, and learning products with Workday data and context. Workday described Sana Agents as enabling no-code agent creation and Sana Learn as an AI-native learning platform.
In March 2026, Workday introduced Sana for Workday, the Sana Self-Service Agent, and Sana Enterprise as offerings available to customers worldwide. The company grouped Sana’s capabilities under Find, Act, Build, and Automate: answering questions using company knowledge and Workday data, executing tasks across connected systems, creating dashboards and summaries, and setting up multi-step workflows.

Workday reported that the Self-Service Agent launched with more than 300 skills across pay, time, and absence. The company also used “How many vacation days do I have left?” as an example of a Find request. The 300-plus figure is a vendor-reported product count at launch; it is not an adoption, accuracy, or customer-benefit metric.
Permissions, approvals, and human review
Workday says Sana combines AI reasoning with deterministic business processes and that actions operate within an organization’s policies, permissions, and approval processes. Its March 2026 release said Sana runs within Workday’s security, permissions, and audit framework. These are Workday’s descriptions of its design and governance; they are not independent certification of safety, security, accuracy, or effectiveness.
For an organization assessing the rollout, the practical questions are what the system can do in its environment and how those actions are controlled:

- Which actions are enabled, and which connected systems can agents access?
- Which actions require approval, and who is authorized to approve them?
- How can administrators review or audit agent activity?
- When does a request transfer to a person, and what context accompanies the handoff?
- What Flex Credit or other usage terms apply under the organization’s agreement?
What the announcement does—and does not—establish
The October release marks a product and interface direction: Workday wants employees to reach information and initiate work through a Sana-centered home screen, with agents coordinating tasks and a service agent handling HR and IT requests. Workday’s corporate boilerplate says more than 11,500 organizations worldwide and more than 65% of Fortune 500 companies trust Workday; those company-wide scale claims do not show Sana adoption or prove the new interface’s results.
The announcement and earlier launch materials do not provide an independent performance study, audited Sana adoption data, or a comparative benchmark. Organizations should therefore distinguish the announced feature set and vendor-described safeguards from demonstrated outcomes in their own deployment. Workday’s October release also cautions that unreleased services and features can change and advises customers to base purchase decisions on currently available capabilities.
