To set wholesale prices in WooCommerce, choose an extension that matches how you segment buyers, set prices, control catalog access, and manage exceptions. Then configure the rules and test what guests, retail customers, and wholesale accounts see in product pages, carts, checkout, and manually entered orders.
There is no universally best extension: the documented capabilities differ, and they do not establish an independent compatibility or performance ranking. Compare the options against your store’s requirements before choosing.
Compare the pricing approaches before choosing an extension
Wholesale pricing can be a replacement price, an adjustment to the regular price, or a quantity-based tier. The rule may apply to a role, an extension-managed customer group, an individual customer, a product or category, or—where supported—a country. Each extension offers a different combination, and overlapping rules may resolve differently.
| Documented extension | Customer targeting and scope | Price rules | Access and operations |
|---|---|---|---|
| B2B Pricing | Products, categories, roles, or countries | Fixed overrides, fixed or percentage adjustments, and quantity tiers; rule priorities | Guest price hiding and approval controls |
| Roles & Rules B2B | Role-related pricing | Uses existing product prices for calculations rather than creating extra product price fields | Private-store behavior; after editing manually entered orders, save and select “Recalculate Prices” |
| Wholesale Pricing & Inventory Control | Roles, individual customers, or guests; per-product or variation inventory | Minimum and maximum quantities | Bulk editing |
| B2B for WooCommerce | Specific customers or roles; product and variation rules | Quantity boundaries and adjustment types; precedence between product-level and rule-based settings | Not stated in the cited documentation |
| B2B & Wholesale Suite | Customer groups and product-level group pricing | Quantity tiers | B2B-only or mixed-store modes; CSV import and export |
| Wholesale Prices & Tiered Pricing | Extension-managed groups | Regular or sale group prices and quantity-based tiers | Hidden-price rules |
Use the table to narrow the field, not to infer that one option is better overall. The cited documentation describes features, not controlled comparative performance. Verify current availability, supported WooCommerce versions, compatibility, and pricing on the linked product pages before committing.

Match segmentation to your customer records
Roles are a natural fit when your store already distinguishes buyer types through WordPress roles. Extension-managed groups can represent wholesale segments without requiring each segment to map directly to a role. Individual customer pricing is useful for negotiated accounts, while a general role or group price can cover standard terms. Confirm that the extension supports the combination you need.
Match rule scope and price model to your catalog
For a consistent range, a category or broader rule may be easier to maintain than separate product prices, if the extension supports it. Use product- or variation-level rules for exceptions. Decide whether wholesale means a fixed replacement price, a fixed or percentage adjustment to the list price, or tiers based on quantity. For tiers, define each quantity boundary and price before configuring the rules.
Account for access and day-to-day operations
A public hybrid shop, where retail and wholesale buyers use the same catalog, has different access needs from a private wholesale store. Check whether the extension supports wholesale registration, approval, guest price hiding, catalog restrictions, and the order-entry workflows your team uses. If your catalog is large, bulk editing or CSV import/export can matter more than a feature that you will rarely use.

1. Map buyer types and negotiated exceptions
List the wholesale account types, how each account is approved, whether it needs a distinct price list, and which customers have individually negotiated terms. This will show whether roles, groups, individual prices, or a combination best fits your customer records.

- Meet and exceed your business needs with intel core i5 3.60 GHz processor
- The ultra-advanced interface that Windows 10 offers is well suited to any hardware or computer program that you are directly using
- 128 GB SSD offers amazing storage room for all your critical data

2. Choose a public hybrid or private wholesale store
Decide whether visitors can browse the catalog and whether guests and logged-in retail customers can see prices. Specify whether wholesale applicants can register themselves and whether an administrator must approve them. Configure these policies using the selected extension’s available controls; the options are not identical across extensions.
3. Write down the price rules before entering them
For each segment, record whether the wholesale amount is a fixed price, a fixed or percentage adjustment, or a quantity tier. Include product or category scope, any individual-account exception, and the intended quantity boundaries. A written rule map makes overlaps visible before they affect checkout.
4. Decide which rule wins when rules overlap
Set a clear priority for general, role or group, product, and customer-specific rules wherever the extension offers priorities. Do not assume a customer exception automatically overrides a role price, or that product-level settings always take precedence. The B2B for WooCommerce documentation specifically describes precedence between product-level and rule-based settings; verify the selected extension’s behavior for every overlap you plan to use.

5. Apply broad rules and product exceptions
Use category or broader rules for consistent ranges where available, then add product- or variation-level prices for genuine exceptions. Enter customer-specific prices only for accounts that need negotiated terms. After configuring overlapping rules, inspect the resulting price with the relevant buyer account rather than relying on how the rule form appears.
6. Set tax and price visibility against your policy
Configure the extension’s tax and display options to reflect your documented store policy, including whether prices are visible to guests. WooCommerce B2B Pricing documentation describes automatic or manual tax handling and user-level exemption settings. Those controls do not determine whether a particular buyer qualifies for an exemption under your jurisdiction’s rules; confirm that treatment using the customer’s facts and appropriate local guidance.
7. Use bulk tools with a controlled price file
If you need to update many products, check whether the chosen extension provides a bulk editor or CSV import/export. Keep a controlled copy of the price data before mass changes, and validate a small representative set after importing or editing. The cited documentation identifies bulk editing for Wholesale Pricing & Inventory Control and CSV import/export for B2B & Wholesale Suite.

| Test account | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Guest | Catalog access and whether prices are visible or hidden |
| Retail customer | Regular pricing and access to wholesale-only content or prices |
| Each wholesale role or group | Correct segment price, product scope, and any quantity tier |
| Account with an individual exception | Whether its negotiated price wins over overlapping general or role rules |
For each applicable account, check quantities below, at, and above every tier boundary. Inspect the product page, cart, and checkout, then verify any admin-entered order workflow your business uses. If the extension supports order edits, check whether prices recalculate automatically or require a specific action. In Roles & Rules B2B, its documentation instructs merchants to save an edited order and use “Recalculate Prices.”
Quick Recap
Maintain the rules as the store changes
- Keep the segment map and price rules aligned with account approval and customer records.
- After changing rule priorities, product assignments, tiers, or tax settings, repeat the relevant test cases.
- Before a large bulk edit or CSV import, preserve the source price data and verify representative products and variations afterward.
- Check the extension’s current compatibility and supported WooCommerce versions when evaluating or upgrading it.
