You can send WooCommerce order alerts to Telegram either with a notification extension or by sending WooCommerce webhooks to a custom receiver. An extension is the more guided route; a webhook gives developers more control over routing and message formatting. First decide whether the messages are for your staff or for customers: those are separate workflows.
Choose the right Telegram notification route

WooCommerce defines a webhook as “an event notification sent to a URL of your choice.” See Working with webhooks in WooCommerce.
Set up alerts with a WooCommerce extension

Install and configure a Telegram notification extension that supports your WooCommerce setup. The exact settings and available order events vary by extension.

In Telegram, use BotFather and the
/newbotcommand to create a bot. Copy the bot token into the extension’s settings, as described in the WooCommerce Telegram Order Notification guide.#1 Best Overall

Set the destination: a user chat or a group. Follow the extension’s instructions to obtain the recipient or group ID.

Save the configuration and use the extension’s test-message control before relying on live order alerts. If you need particular event filters or message templates, confirm the specific extension supports them.
Treat the bot token like a password. Do not expose it in screenshots, public support posts, or shared documents.
Send WooCommerce order events through a custom webhook

In WordPress, go to WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > Webhooks. Create a webhook, set its status to active, choose the relevant order topic, enter your receiver’s delivery URL, and consider setting a secret. The path and available fields are documented in WooCommerce Advanced Settings and the WooCommerce Webhooks documentation.

Build or configure a receiver at that URL. Validate the request before using its contents: WooCommerce can use the configured secret to generate an HMAC-SHA256 hash in the request headers. See the WooCommerce Webhooks API documentation.

Have the receiver extract only the order details needed for the alert, then pass them to your Telegram integration. WooCommerce’s webhook documentation describes delivery to your receiver; the Telegram message construction depends on the integration you choose.

Place a test order or otherwise trigger the selected event, then inspect the receiver and WooCommerce delivery logs to confirm the workflow.

WooCommerce processes webhook delivery in the background through wp-cron by default. That means an alert should not be treated as guaranteed instantaneous; the documentation does not give a delivery-time service guarantee. See the Webhooks API documentation.

Protect order data and credentials

Keep both the bot token and webhook secret private. The webhook secret supports request verification; it is not a substitute for securing the receiver.

Send only the order fields required by the alert, and limit access to the Telegram chat receiving them. Order payloads may include customer or transaction-related information.

Use HTTPS where the Telegram integration registers an inbound Telegram webhook. WooCommerce’s NotifyStore documentation and Telegram Mini-Apps documentation state that HTTPS is required for webhook registration.

Run the extension’s test-message feature. If it fails, consult that extension’s setup instructions and confirm its required webhook configuration and HTTPS requirements.

Confirm the extension supports the event you expect and that it is enabled in its settings.
For a custom webhook

In WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > Webhooks, verify the webhook is active, has the intended order topic, and points to the correct delivery URL.

Review WooCommerce’s webhook logs for failed deliveries. The Webhooks documentation describes where to find delivery logs.

Check that your receiver accepts the request, verifies the signature using the configured secret, and can reach the Telegram integration. A rejected signature or receiver error can stop the alert even when the webhook is configured.
For a customer-facing bot

Check the bot workflow separately from any staff alert integration. Customer order-status messages require a customer-facing Telegram experience, such as the one documented for Telegram Mini-Apps.
WooCommerce notes that support does not cover customizations under its support policy; for a custom receiver, troubleshooting may require the developer or service that built it. See WooCommerce Webhooks documentation.
