The Wolf Among Us Remastered for Nintendo Switch was delayed on October 16, 2026. Its planned October 29 launch no longer has a date. Telltale says it needs “some additional time to ensure we deliver the experience Nintendo players deserve,” but it has not identified a technical problem or announced a replacement date. PlayStation 5, Xbox and PC versions remain scheduled for October 29, 2026.
What changed with the Switch release?
Telltale’s October 8 announcement listed October 29, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. Xbox Series X|S was included through backward compatibility. On October 16, Telltale changed the Switch listing to “at a later date” while leaving the other platforms on the October 29 schedule.

Why was Wolf Among Us Remastered delayed on Switch?
Telltale has given a quality-focused explanation, not a technical one. Its complete statement says:

“Bringing The Wolf Among Us to Nintendo Switch for the very first time is an exciting moment for us! We don’t take this lightly. With that in mind, we’re taking some additional time to ensure we deliver the experience Nintendo players deserve.”

“The Wolf Among Us Remastered will launch as planned on October 29 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The Nintendo Switch version will follow at a later date.”
“We’ll share an updated release date for the Switch as soon as we can.”
The statement, issued by The Wolf Among Us Team on October 16, does not mention Nintendo certification, frame-rate problems, bugs, optimization, loading performance or a specific hardware limitation. Those explanations should not be treated as confirmed causes. Until Telltale provides more detail, the only established reason is that the company wants additional time before releasing the first Switch version.

Is the Switch 2 version delayed too?
Switch 2 availability is unresolved. Telltale’s original June announcement named both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. The October delay notice refers only to “Nintendo Switch” and gives no Switch 2 schedule or platform-specific clarification.
That wording does not establish whether a Switch 2 edition is being delayed alongside the standard Switch release, whether both systems will share one date, or whether the reference covers only the original Switch version. Treat Switch 2 timing as unannounced until Telltale publishes a separate update.
Which versions still release on October 29?
| Platform | October 29 status | Current details |
|---|---|---|
| PC | Still scheduled | Listed for Steam and Epic Games Store. |
| PlayStation 5 | Still scheduled | Remains on the October 29 date. |
| Xbox One | Still scheduled | Included in Telltale’s October 8 platform announcement. |
| Xbox Series X|S | Still scheduled | Supported through backward compatibility. |
| Nintendo Switch | No announced date | Moved from October 29 to “a later date.” |
Telltale has not announced feature differences between these platforms. The safest assumption is that the remaster’s advertised content applies generally, while platform-specific performance and technical details remain to be confirmed.

- Cry Wolf
Telltale describes upgrades to lighting, animation, environments, audio, resolution, frame rate, interface and accessibility features. These changes are intended to refresh the presentation and usability of the complete season rather than add a new episode.

Will there be a physical Switch copy?
Physical editions are planned for the first quarter of 2027, after the October 2026 digital launch window. Telltale has not published a retailer, price, SKU, territory, preorder date or definitive packaging details.
If you search for a physical copy, use “The Wolf Among Us Remastered Nintendo Switch” and verify the live listing carefully. Check whether it identifies the original Switch, Switch 2 or both, because Telltale has not resolved that distinction in its delay notice.

The practical choice depends on whether portability or a firm date matters more:
- Wait for Switch: Choose this if you specifically want the Nintendo version and can accept an unknown release date. Do not rely on October 29 for Switch.
- Buy on PC, PlayStation 5 or Xbox: These versions retain the October 29 schedule and are the dated alternatives for players who do not want to wait.
- Choose based on hardware you already own: The available information does not establish meaningful content differences between platforms, so there is no confirmed feature reason to prefer one non-Switch edition over another.
- Wait for a physical edition: Physical copies are planned for Q1 2027, but ordering details are not available yet.
Does the delay affect The Wolf Among Us 2?
No connection has been announced. Telltale and PM Studios have announced The Wolf Among Us 2 for 2027, but it is a separate project. The searched announcements do not link the sequel’s schedule to the remaster’s Switch delay.
What should happen next?
The next meaningful update is a replacement Switch date from Telltale. That announcement should also clarify whether the date applies to both Nintendo Switch generations and whether the physical Q1 2027 plan changes. Until then, October 29 applies to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox—not Nintendo Switch.
