What Wispr Flow does—and what the free plan answers
Wispr Flow is a voice-dictation tool that turns speech into text in supported apps. Wispr lists dictation for Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android, and says it supports more than 100 languages. Those are product claims, not a measure of how accurately it will handle your accent, specialist vocabulary, punctuation, or preferred writing style.
The free plan is useful for trying the workflow and occasional dictation. If you expect to dictate regularly, its weekly word cap may be the deciding constraint. Wispr’s official pricing comparison lists 2,000 words per week on desktop and 1,000 on mobile, while the homepage FAQ summarizes the free offer as 2,000 words per week. Because those official summaries differ in detail, confirm the limit shown for your platform and account before relying on it.

Wispr’s pricing and support pages currently distinguish individual plans from plans aimed at teams. The figures below are the published individual-plan prices; verify the live checkout because prices and plan names can change.

The pricing page also presents Growth and Enterprise, while Wispr support materials may use additional team-focused labels. Do not assume a feature listed for a paid or team tier is included in individual Pro. Notetaker is a separate workflow from typing spoken text into an app: Wispr describes it for meeting notes and currently lists it as available on Mac and Windows.
Where it works—and where feature coverage narrows
Wispr lists dictation across Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android. Its product page describes Notetaker as currently available on Mac and Windows only. Platform availability and the set of features on each platform can change, so check Wispr’s current compatibility and plan details before choosing Flow for a device-dependent workflow.

In practice, the key distinction is whether you want speech entered into the app you are already using or a meeting-oriented tool for notes and follow-up. The former is Flow’s core dictation use; Notetaker is a different feature with narrower stated platform coverage and plan-specific details.

Wispr says transcription always happens in the cloud: dictated audio is sent for processing into text. That means Flow is not an offline dictation option. The company says users can control storage of transcripts, audio, and dictation history; these settings affect persistent and cross-device features, so review the controls for your account and decide what you need stored.

Wispr also says “Improve the model for everyone” is enabled by default for Free and Pro, with an option to turn it off during onboarding or later. Enterprise has the setting off, and administrators cannot turn it back on. These are Wispr’s stated practices; check the current settings and policy for your account before dictating sensitive material.
Wispr’s security materials refer to SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, and its privacy page describes HIPAA support through a Business Associate Agreement. Those statements do not establish that every account or use is compliant: the company says its dictation system is in scope for SOC 2 and ISO audits, and HIPAA support requires the relevant agreement. Follow your organization’s requirements before using Flow for regulated information.

How to decide whether the free tier fits
- Try Free if you want to explore voice entry, dictate intermittently, or see whether your language and vocabulary work well before paying.
- Check the weekly cap against your routine. The published comparison gives platform-specific limits; a mobile-heavy workflow may reach its stated allowance sooner than desktop dictation.
- Consider Pro only for the paid features you need. Its published offer includes unlimited dictation, but meeting retention and team controls should be checked against the exact plan and account type.
- Skip it for offline-only or sensitive workflows unless cloud transcription and your account’s storage and model-improvement settings meet your requirements.
There is no independent accuracy result in the available product information. Test Flow with your own typical speech—names, punctuation, background noise, and technical terms—and judge the corrections required before treating it as a replacement for typing or built-in dictation. Wispr’s feature list can establish availability and plan terms; it cannot establish that you will be faster or more accurate.
