There is no defensible “best” choice between Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Infosys based only on one year’s results. For FY2026 (ended March 31, 2026), TCS reported the highest cited operating margin, Infosys combined positive constant-currency growth with strong reported free cash flow and large-deal value, and Wipro reported a constant-currency decline in IT-services revenue. Those figures use different scopes and definitions, and a company’s operating performance does not tell you whether its shares are cheap at your purchase price.
A sound comparison therefore uses the same fiscal period, currency basis and metric definition, then adds a common-date valuation, cash-flow quality, deal conversion, shareholder distributions and company-specific risks. The framework below uses FY2026 disclosures and the latest quarterly information available at 2026-10-13 09:10:23 UTC.
What the FY2026 numbers actually say
FY2026 ended on March 31, 2026. Each company reports in its own presentation currency and defines measures such as operating margin, constant-currency growth, free cash flow and deal value differently. Treat the figures below as a factual starting point, not a mechanically comparable league table.
| Company and scope | Revenue and growth | Operating profitability | Cash or earnings measure | Demand indicator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wipro, IT services | $10.5 billion; down 1.6% year on year in constant currency | 17.2% IT-services operating margin | ₹132.0 billion net income; operating cash flow equal to 112.6% of net income | $7.8 billion large-deal TCV |
| TCS, company-reported annual revenue | ₹267,021 crore; 4.6% growth | 25.0% operating margin | ₹52,820 crore profit after tax attributable to shareholders; EPS ₹145.99 | Not stated on the cited FY2026 annual figures |
| Infosys, company-reported figures | ₹178,650 crore; 9.6% reported growth, 3.1% constant-currency growth | 21.0% adjusted operating margin | ₹33,097 crore free cash flow, 112.3% of net profit; dividend ₹48 per share | $14.9 billion large-deal TCV |
Primary disclosures: Wipro’s FY2026 annual report, TCS’s FY2026 annual report and Infosys’s FY2026 annual report.

Wipro’s revenue and margin in this comparison are specifically for IT services. TCS’s 4.6% is its annual revenue growth on the annual-report basis. Infosys’s 9.6% reported growth includes currency translation; its 3.1% constant-currency figure is the more useful operating-growth reference. TCS’s 25.0% margin, Infosys’s 21.0% adjusted margin and Wipro’s 17.2% IT-services margin should not be treated as identical accounting measures without reading each report’s notes.
Step 1: Put growth on a like-for-like basis
Separate reported, constant-currency and organic growth
Start with at least three years of revenue history, but make the latest-year comparison on one basis. Reported growth reflects exchange-rate movements; constant-currency growth attempts to remove that translation effect. Neither number alone tells you whether clients increased underlying spending. Ask whether growth came from existing accounts, new logos, acquisitions, pricing, volume or currency.
- Use Wipro’s 1.6% constant-currency decline as evidence of contraction in its cited IT-services perimeter, not as a statement about every Wipro business.
- Use Infosys’s 3.1% constant-currency growth rather than its 9.6% reported growth when comparing underlying operating momentum.
- Keep TCS’s 4.6% annual growth labeled as its reported annual-revenue measure unless you obtain a matching constant-currency figure.
Check mix and durability
Read segment and geographic tables for exposure to discretionary consulting, cloud, application work, infrastructure and managed services. A quarter boosted by one large client or an acquisition has a different quality from broad-based expansion. Track whether the largest accounts are growing, stable or shrinking, and whether management discloses client concentration.
Step 2: Compare profitability and its direction
Operating margin shows how much operating profit remains from revenue before financing and tax, but the perimeter and adjustment policy matter. Build a multi-year series and annotate restructuring charges, wage cycles, utilization, subcontractor costs, acquisitions and currency effects.
| Measure | Wipro FY2026 | TCS FY2026 | Infosys FY2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reported figure | 17.2% IT-services operating margin | 25.0% operating margin | 21.0% adjusted operating margin |
| What to verify | IT-services perimeter and any company-wide difference | Annual-report operating-margin definition | Items excluded from “adjusted” margin |
A higher margin is valuable only if it is sustainable. Examine utilization, employee attrition, wage increases, subcontracting, pricing concessions and the mix of high-value versus labor-intensive work. Compare margin direction over several years rather than ranking a single percentage point. An adjusted margin can be useful for trend analysis, but reconcile it to the reported measure before using it in a valuation model.
Step 3: Test earnings quality with cash flow and the balance sheet
Use conversion ratios correctly
Wipro reported operating cash flow at 112.6% of net income. Infosys reported ₹33,097 crore of free cash flow, equal to 112.3% of net profit. These are different measures: operating cash flow is before capital expenditure, while free cash flow generally subtracts capital expenditure, and each company can define components differently. Do not call the ratios interchangeable or assume one year guarantees future conversion.
For each company, reconcile net income to operating cash flow and then to free cash flow. Identify working-capital movements, unusually high collections, tax timing, provisions, capitalized development and one-off payments. A temporary release of receivables can make conversion look exceptional even when normalized cash generation is lower.

Review financial resilience
- Record cash, liquid investments, gross debt and net cash on the same reporting date.
- Check lease liabilities, pension or other long-term obligations and acquisition commitments.
- Subtract announced buybacks, tender offers and dividends from cash only when they are approved or completed, not merely proposed.
- Compare capital expenditure with depreciation and assess whether investment is keeping pace with delivery capacity and security needs.
Step 4: Read deal TCV as a leading indicator, not revenue
Total contract value (TCV) is the contracted value of awarded work over the stated contract period. It is not revenue recognized in the quarter or year, and conversion depends on start dates, cancellations, scope changes and client spending. The cited figures also cover different periods and scopes:
| Disclosure | Period and scope | TCV |
|---|---|---|
| Wipro | FY2026 large deals | $7.8 billion |
| Infosys | FY2026 large deals | $14.9 billion |
| TCS | Q2 FY2027 quarter | $9.6 billion |
Do not rank these totals as if they were a single-year contest. Instead, calculate a rolling TCV trend for each company, compare it with revenue growth in subsequent quarters, and examine average contract duration, renewal rates and the proportion of new versus expansion work. A large TCV accompanied by weak revenue can indicate delayed ramp-ups; moderate TCV with rapid conversion can indicate shorter contracts or a different mix.
Step 5: Establish a common-date valuation before deciding
The FY2026 disclosures do not provide a common-date share price or current valuation multiple, so they do not support a claim that one of the three stocks is cheapest. You must collect closing prices and diluted share counts on one explicit date, then pair those prices with the same earnings period.
- Choose a valuation date and record the exchange, closing price, share class and currency.
- Use trailing FY2026 earnings for a historical P/E, or use a clearly documented forward estimate for a forward P/E. Do not mix one company’s trailing earnings with another’s forecast.
- Calculate enterprise value only after adding debt and subtracting cash and liquid investments on a consistent basis.
- Compare operating-profit or cash-flow multiples alongside P/E, because tax rates, buybacks and non-operating income can distort earnings comparisons.
- Stress-test the multiple against realistic growth, margin and currency assumptions. A premium can be justified by durable growth and returns on capital; it can also simply reflect optimistic expectations.
State whether prices are adjusted for splits or dividends and whether earnings are attributable to ordinary shareholders. Keep rupees, dollars and crores clearly labeled; never infer a valuation from EPS figures alone without the contemporaneous share price.
Step 6: Distinguish paid, completed and proposed shareholder returns
| Company | FY2026 distribution information | Status or qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Wipro | EPS ₹12.6; dividend per share ₹11 | The FY2026 results release described a ₹150 billion tender-offer proposal subject to shareholder approval; the declared ₹11 interim dividend was to be considered final for FY2026. |
| TCS | Total dividends ₹110 per share | The annual report includes interim and special dividends and a final dividend recommended subject to shareholder approval. |
| Infosys | Dividend per share ₹48; ₹18,000 crore buyback at ₹1,800 per share | The buyback was completed; dividend history does not guarantee future payments. |
Verify Wipro’s status in its FY2026 results release. For analysis, separate cash already paid from board recommendations and proposals. A high payout can signal mature cash generation, but it can also limit reinvestment; a lower payout may reflect growth investment rather than weak shareholder economics.
What the latest quarterly evidence can—and cannot—tell you
TCS Q2 FY2027
TCS had reported its quarter ended September 30, 2026 by the 2026-10-13 timestamp. It reported revenue of $7.642 billion, up 2.4% year on year in U.S. dollars and 0.5% quarter on quarter in constant currency, with a 24.0% operating margin, 19.0% net margin, $9.6 billion TCV and annualized AI revenue of $3.1 billion. International revenue grew 1.2% quarter on quarter in constant currency. These are company-reported figures in the TCS Q2 FY2027 release, not independent forecasts.
Wipro and Infosys release timing
Wipro’s official calendar scheduled Q2 FY2027 results for October 15, 2026, after Indian market hours, as shown in its results announcement. Infosys’s investor FAQ listed October 23, 2026 for its Q2 release; the available Q1 FY2027 figures were revenue of ₹48,211 crore and net profit after non-controlling interests of ₹7,769 crore (Infosys investor FAQ). Consequently, TCS Q2 cannot be compared directly with Wipro or Infosys Q1, nor with FY2026 full-year totals. Re-run the three-company comparison after all three Q2 reports are available.

Step 7: Build a risk register instead of a generic disclaimer
Read each company’s latest annual-report risk factors and assign a monitoring metric. Relevant categories include:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Demand and discretion: clients can defer transformation or consulting projects during economic stress.
- Client concentration: losing or shrinking one major account can move growth and utilization.
- Talent and wages: attrition, scarce skills and salary inflation can compress margins.
- Pricing and execution: fixed-price contracts, delivery delays and rework can erase expected profit.
- Currency: rupee-dollar and other exchange movements affect reported revenue and margins.
- Acquisitions: integration costs, goodwill and retention problems can reduce returns.
- Cybersecurity and privacy: incidents can create remediation costs, regulatory penalties and reputational damage.
- Geopolitics and regulation: trade restrictions, data-localization rules and political shocks can disrupt delivery.
- Technology shifts: artificial intelligence can create new demand while automating existing billable work or requiring heavy retraining.
Infosys’s FY2026 Form 20-F explicitly discusses talent competition, wage increases, reduced demand, AI and technological change, geopolitical and economic conditions, cybersecurity, privacy and foreign exchange (Form 20-F). That filing is an example of one company’s disclosed risks, not proof that the other two have identical exposure; inspect their filings independently.
A practical worksheet for comparing the three stocks
- Freeze the period. Use FY2026 for the annual baseline and mark the exact quarter and release date for any update.
- Normalize units. Keep rupees, dollars, crores, billions and per-share data in separate labeled columns; convert only with a stated exchange rate and date.
- Normalize definitions. Tag every growth and margin number as reported, constant currency, adjusted or unadjusted, and note the business perimeter.
- Score operating momentum. Combine multi-year revenue trend, latest common-quarter growth, backlog or TCV conversion and client breadth.
- Score quality. Examine margin direction, utilization, attrition, pricing and cash conversion rather than using a single margin ranking.
- Calculate valuation. Use one market-price date, consistent diluted shares and the same trailing or forward earnings basis.
- Model shareholder cash. Include only paid dividends and completed repurchases in historical return calculations; model proposed actions separately.
- Write a bear case. Specify which demand, margin, currency, execution or regulatory assumption would invalidate your thesis and what evidence would change your view.
Questions to resolve before buying
Does the fastest reported growth deserve the highest multiple?
Not automatically. Infosys’s 9.6% reported growth falls to 3.1% in constant currency, illustrating why exchange rates can change the apparent ranking. Compare the underlying growth rate with margin stability, cash conversion and the price investors are paying. A slower company with a lower multiple may offer a better risk-adjusted outcome, while a fast-growing company can disappoint if expectations are already high.
Is a high operating margin proof of superior quality?
It is evidence of current profitability, not a guarantee. TCS’s 25.0% FY2026 margin, Infosys’s 21.0% adjusted margin and Wipro’s 17.2% IT-services margin have different definitions. Check whether each margin benefited from favorable currency, unusually high utilization, lower subcontracting or delayed hiring. Then test whether the margin holds when wages rise or discretionary work weakens.
How should an investor interpret AI disclosures?
Separate booked revenue from management commentary. TCS reported annualized AI revenue of $3.1 billion in Q2 FY2027, but an annualized figure is not the same as recognized annual revenue or profit. Ask how AI changes pricing, staffing, contract scope and renewal rates, and whether automation could reduce existing billable hours while creating new services.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
What spreadsheet fields prevent comparison errors?
Use columns for period end, release date, currency, reported or constant-currency growth, adjusted or unadjusted margin, revenue perimeter, net income, operating cash flow, free cash flow, TCV period, diluted shares, closing price, dividends paid and buybacks completed. Add a notes column for one-off items, acquisitions, restructuring, currency effects and approval status. This makes it harder to compare a quarterly TCV with a full-year TCV or a proposed payout with cash already distributed.
How often should the comparison be updated?
Refresh it when all three companies have reported the same quarter, after material acquisitions or buybacks, and whenever the valuation date changes. At the stated October 13, 2026 timestamp, only TCS had reported Q2 FY2027; Wipro’s release was scheduled for October 15 and Infosys’s for October 23. A partial update should be labeled partial rather than presented as a synchronized ranking.

Practical requirements and costs
No company-specific product or mandatory physical tool is needed to perform this analysis. A spreadsheet and the companies’ annual reports, results releases and investor FAQs are sufficient for a basic comparison. An optional financial-data or equity-research subscription may make it easier to retrieve historical prices, share counts and consensus estimates, but fees vary by provider and no particular service is required or endorsed here. Whatever tool you use, retain the price date, exchange, currency and definition behind every input.
Your main cost is analytical time: reading notes, reconciling definitions and updating the model after each release. Avoid paying for a screening service that presents a single “best stock” score without showing whether it uses reported or constant-currency growth, adjusted or reported margins, trailing or forward earnings, and paid or proposed distributions.

- Mixing currencies: do not compare dollar revenue with rupee revenue without stating the conversion date and purpose.
- Mixing periods: a quarter cannot be ranked against a full fiscal year.
- Double counting currency: do not treat reported growth and constant-currency growth as separate operating gains.
- Calling TCV revenue: contract value still has to ramp, renew and convert.
- Ignoring dilution: use diluted shares when calculating per-share valuation.
- Counting proposals as returns: a tender offer or recommended final dividend remains conditional until approved and completed.
- Overreading one year: working-capital timing, restructuring and wage cycles can distort a single period.
- Using AI headlines as forecasts: validate revenue, margin and cash outcomes in reported accounts.
How to interpret the FY2026 comparison
On the cited operating figures, TCS had the strongest reported margin at 25.0%. Infosys showed 3.1% constant-currency growth, 21.0% adjusted operating margin, ₹33,097 crore of free cash flow and $14.9 billion of FY2026 large-deal TCV. Wipro’s FY2026 IT-services revenue declined 1.6% in constant currency, although its reported operating-cash-flow conversion was 112.6% of net income and its large-deal TCV was $7.8 billion.
Those observations describe different strengths and weaknesses; they do not establish which share price offers the best return. The investment decision still depends on the common-date multiple, your expected growth and margin path, balance-sheet needs, risk tolerance, diversification and the evidence that contracts convert into revenue and cash.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which company had the highest FY2026 operating margin?
TCS reported a 25.0% operating margin, compared with Infosys’s 21.0% adjusted operating margin and Wipro’s 17.2% IT-services operating margin. The scopes and definitions are not identical, so read the annual-report notes before treating the gap as decisive.
Which company grew fastest in constant currency?
Among the cited like-for-like figures, Infosys reported 3.1% constant-currency growth, while Wipro’s IT-services revenue declined 1.6% in constant currency. TCS’s cited 4.6% figure is reported annual revenue growth, not a matching constant-currency measure.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsDoes the largest TCV mean the strongest demand?
No. Wipro’s $7.8 billion and Infosys’s $14.9 billion figures cover FY2026 large deals, while TCS’s $9.6 billion figure covers Q2 FY2027. TCV is contracted value, not current-period revenue, and conversion depends on timing, scope and renewals.

Can I compare TCS Q2 FY2027 with Wipro and Infosys immediately?
Not on a synchronized quarterly basis at the stated timestamp. TCS had reported Q2, while Wipro’s release was scheduled for October 15, 2026 and Infosys’s for October 23, 2026. Wait for all three reports or label the comparison as incomplete.
What valuation multiple should I use?
Use a common-date closing price, consistent diluted shares and the same trailing or forward earnings period. Compare P/E with operating-profit or cash-flow multiples, and test whether the multiple is supported by expected growth, margins and risk.
Are the listed dividends and buybacks guaranteed?
No. Infosys’s ₹18,000 crore buyback at ₹1,800 per share was completed. TCS’s ₹110 per-share total included a final dividend recommended subject to approval, and Wipro’s ₹150 billion tender offer was proposed subject to approval. Historical payouts do not guarantee future distributions.
What is the most important risk to monitor?
There is no universal single risk. Track demand and discretionary spending, client concentration, talent and wage inflation, pricing and execution, currency, acquisitions, cybersecurity and privacy, geopolitics and regulation, and AI-related changes in service economics.
Do I need a paid research platform?
No. Company filings, results releases, investor FAQs and a spreadsheet can support a basic comparison. A paid financial-data service is optional; if used, verify its price dates, share counts, currency conversions and metric definitions.
The Bottom Line
Use FY2026 as a disciplined baseline, not as a one-number verdict. TCS led the cited margin comparison, Infosys paired positive constant-currency growth with strong reported free cash flow and deal TCV, and Wipro’s IT-services revenue declined in constant currency while cash conversion remained strong. Each result needs its scope and definition attached.
Before investing, synchronize the latest quarter, build a common-date valuation, verify cash and payout status, and write a bear case covering demand, margins, currency, execution and technology risk. Without that work, calling Wipro, TCS or Infosys the best buy is an assumption about price and expectations, not a conclusion from FY2026 operating results.
