Windows 11 calls the touch cursor feedback bubbles Touch indicator. Open Start > Settings > Accessibility > Mouse pointer & touch, switch on Touch indicator, and, if the circles are difficult to see, expand its settings and select Make the circle darker and larger. You can jump to Accessibility with Windows logo key + U.
The feature adds a visible circle around each point where Windows detects a touchscreen tap or other touch input. It is separate from the mouse pointer style and size controls, and it is also separate from the text cursor indicator.
What Windows 11 calls the “touch cursor feedback bubble”
Windows does not label this option “touch cursor feedback bubbles.” In Windows 11, the setting is named Touch indicator. Microsoft describes it as visual feedback that appears when you touch the screen, including visual feedback around the touch points. This terminology matters because Windows has several unrelated cursor and pointer aids in Accessibility.

When Touch indicator is enabled, a circle appears at the location of a tap or other touch contact. The circle is feedback for the touchscreen action, not a replacement pointer and not an on-screen keyboard control. You are changing how Windows shows touch input, rather than changing the behavior of the touch display itself.

Turn on Touch indicator in Windows 11
- Open Start, then select Settings.
- Choose Accessibility in the Settings sidebar.
- Open Mouse pointer & touch.
- Find Touch indicator and turn it on.
Microsoft documents this path in Make Windows easier to see. The setting is built into Windows 11, so this task does not require an additional utility or product.
Use the keyboard shortcut to reach Accessibility
If you prefer not to navigate through Start, press Windows logo key + U. Windows opens the Accessibility page; select Mouse pointer & touch, then enable Touch indicator. Microsoft lists this shortcut in Make your mouse, keyboard, and other input devices easier to use.
Make the touch circle darker and larger
The standard indicator can be hard to notice against a busy application, a bright document, or a rapidly changing screen. After turning on Touch indicator:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Remain on Settings > Accessibility > Mouse pointer & touch.
- Expand the Touch indicator settings.
- Select Make the circle darker and larger.
This is the documented visibility adjustment. Microsoft’s instruction is: “To see the touch indicator circle more visibly, expand the Touch indicator settings, and then select the Make the circle darker and larger checkbox.” The setting changes the appearance of the feedback circle; it does not change the size of your physical touch target or alter the display’s resolution.

Choose the right setting for your situation
You can use the indicator by itself or combine it with the darker-and-larger option. The choice depends on whether you need confirmation that a touch was registered or a more prominent circle for demonstrations and screen sharing.
| Choice | What appears | When it is useful |
|---|---|---|
| Touch indicator on | A circle around a detected touch point | Everyday confirmation that a tap or touch contact reached Windows |
| Make the circle darker and larger selected | A more visible version of the touch feedback circle | Presentations, training, recording, or situations where the default circle blends into the screen |
| Touch indicator off | No touch-feedback circle from this setting | When on-screen touch markers are distracting or unnecessary |
There is no documented separate color picker or numeric size field for the Touch indicator in the cited Windows 11 guidance. The supported visibility choice is the darker-and-larger checkbox. Do not expect controls for selecting an arbitrary color, entering a pixel diameter, or assigning different appearances to different fingers.
Do not confuse Touch indicator with other cursor settings
The word “cursor” can refer to several different things. Identifying the correct control prevents you from changing a setting that cannot produce touch bubbles.

Mouse pointer style and size
Windows also provides controls for changing the mouse pointer’s appearance and size. Those controls affect the pointer moved by a mouse, trackpad, or similar pointing device. They do not create circles around touchscreen taps. Microsoft treats mouse-pointer changes separately from touch-point feedback in its accessibility guidance.
Text cursor indicator
The text cursor is the insertion marker you see while typing in a text field. Its accessibility indicator helps make that vertical typing marker easier to locate. It is unrelated to a circle that appears when you touch a display. If your problem is losing the insertion point while editing text, look for text-cursor accessibility settings rather than Touch indicator.
How to confirm that the setting works
After enabling the option, test it with a simple touch action rather than relying on a mouse click. Touch the screen once in an uncluttered area, then touch a different location. A circle should appear around each detected touch point. The darker-and-larger option should make that feedback easier to distinguish.
- Use the touchscreen itself for the test; a mouse click does not represent a touchscreen contact.
- Try an uncluttered part of the desktop so the circle is not hidden by a dialog or dense content.
- If you enabled the larger, darker option, check that the circle is visually more prominent than before.
- Return to the same Accessibility page if you need to switch the visibility option off again.
The setting provides visual feedback for input events. It does not certify that an app accepted the command, completed a task, or saved data. For example, a circle can show that Windows detected a touch even when an application is busy or does not respond to that particular gesture.

What you need before enabling it
The option is a Windows 11 accessibility setting, not a separate download. To see a circle in practice, the computer must have a touchscreen capable of producing touch input. On a non-touch computer, you can still inspect the setting, but there is no screen-touch point for the indicator to mark. A mouse or trackpad click should not be used as a substitute for a touch test.
The cited Microsoft pages do not state a minimum hardware specification, a particular Windows 11 build number, or a separate licensing requirement for Touch indicator. They also do not document organization-policy behavior for this option. Keep those limits in mind when diagnosing a device that differs from the documented interface.

The Touch indicator option is not visible
First, verify that you opened Accessibility > Mouse pointer & touch, rather than a similarly named mouse, keyboard, or text-cursor page. The documented Windows 11 path is the authoritative location for this control. If the page still does not contain it, Microsoft’s cited instructions do not establish a specific cause, minimum build, or policy setting that explains why.

The switch is on, but no circle appears
Confirm that you are touching the display itself and that the device actually supports touch input. A mouse, trackpad, or keyboard action does not create the touch-point event this feature visualizes. Test with a single tap in a clear area, then check whether the indicator appears at that contact point.
The circle is difficult to see
Reopen the Touch indicator section and select Make the circle darker and larger. This is the documented way to increase visibility. Windows’ cited guidance does not provide a separate color selector or a numeric size control, so there are no additional Touch indicator appearance fields to tune in that page.
You changed the mouse pointer but nothing changed on touch
Mouse pointer settings and Touch indicator settings serve different input devices. Return to Accessibility > Mouse pointer & touch and enable Touch indicator specifically. Changing pointer color or pointer size alone will not add touch-feedback circles.
Practical uses for touch feedback circles
Presenting or teaching on a touchscreen
A visible circle lets observers follow the location of a tap while you demonstrate an app or explain a Windows task. The darker-and-larger option is intended for situations where the normal circle is not prominent enough to follow.
Recording a touchscreen workflow
When a recording needs to show where each touch occurs, enabling Touch indicator gives viewers a visual location for the input. Test the appearance in the same application and display arrangement you will use, because backgrounds and interface contrast affect how easy any visual marker is to notice.
Improving personal confirmation
Some users enable the indicator simply to verify that a tap landed where intended. In that case, start with the standard Touch indicator and select the darker-and-larger option only if the default feedback is too subtle.
A quick setup checklist
- Open Start > Settings > Accessibility > Mouse pointer & touch, or press Windows logo key + U and choose the same page.
- Turn on Touch indicator.
- Expand its settings when you need stronger visual feedback.
- Select Make the circle darker and larger for the documented enhanced visibility mode.
- Test with a real touchscreen tap, not a mouse click.
- Remember that mouse-pointer and text-cursor settings are separate features.
Microsoft’s Windows Backup Settings Catalog also lists the touch-point visual-feedback setting and its darker/larger option; see Windows Backup Settings Catalog for that catalog entry.
