Microsoft’s September 22, 2026 preview update KB5124010 changes two everyday Windows 11 interactions: Bluetooth Classic Audio accessories can now trigger the Windows volume flyout when you adjust their volume during a voice call, and a dedicated Copilot key can be reassigned to Right Ctrl or the Context Menu key. What KB5124010 changes
KB5124010 is a Windows 11 preview update released on September 22, 2026. Its Bluetooth change concerns accessories using Bluetooth Classic Audio. When you are in a voice call and use the accessory’s own volume controls, Windows now shows the shell volume flyout on the PC. Microsoft’s accessibility guidance says some customers rely on Right Ctrl or the Context Menu key for established shortcuts and assistive technologies, including screen readers. Replacing either key with a dedicated Copilot key can therefore disrupt a workflow even when the rest of the keyboard works normally. Reassigning the Copilot key restores one of those functions without requiring an external remapping utility.

How to remap the Copilot key
- Install the applicable Windows 11 update, including preview update KB5124010 where it is offered to your PC.
- Open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices, then Keyboard.
- Find the Copilot-key control. Choose Right Ctrl or Context Menu when those choices are available.
- Test the key in the applications where you depend on the selected shortcut or context-menu command. If the behavior does not change immediately, close and reopen the affected application, or restart Windows.
The choices are functional assignments, not a way to create an arbitrary macro. The setting restores one of the two documented key behaviors.
How the Bluetooth call-volume feedback works
- Connect a Bluetooth Classic Audio headset, speaker or other call accessory to Windows 11.
- Start or join a voice call.
- Use the accessory’s physical or onboard volume control.
- Watch for the Windows shell volume flyout on the PC display. Its appearance confirms that Windows received the volume adjustment.
This behavior is specifically described for volume changes made from the accessory during voice calls. It should not be read as a promise that every Bluetooth profile, application or non-call playback scenario will produce the same flyout.
If the Copilot setting is missing
Microsoft’s official guidance does not define a universal device-by-device availability rule. An absent control therefore does not by itself prove that the keyboard is incompatible.

- Confirm the installed Windows 11 version and whether KB5124010 is listed in update history.
