To check missed notifications in Windows 11, open Notification Center by selecting the clock or notification bell on the taskbar, or press Windows key + N. You can review notifications that are still displayed there, but Microsoft does not specify how long they remain or document a way to recover them after they are cleared.
Open Notification Center and review alerts
- Open Notification Center. Select the clock or notification bell on the taskbar, press Windows key + N, or, on a touchscreen, swipe in from the side of the screen. These options open the same place. Microsoft’s notification guide lists these ways to check notifications you missed.
- Review the notifications shown. Select an alert to open it or use an available action. Some notifications can be expanded for more detail.
Keep an app’s future notifications in Notification Center
Go to Start > Settings > System > Notifications, select the app, and review its notification options. Make sure the app is allowed to send notifications and that Show notifications in notification center is enabled. Microsoft documents these per-app controls.
Troubleshoot notifications you cannot find
No banner appeared
Open Notification Center to check for the alert. When Do not disturb is on, most notifications go to Notification Center instead of appearing as banners. Microsoft explains Do not disturb behavior.
An app’s notifications are missing
In Settings > System > Notifications, check that the app can send notifications and that Show notifications in notification center is enabled.
You cleared the notification
Microsoft documents how to clear notifications, but its guidance does not say whether cleared alerts can be recovered or give an exact retention period. Do not assume a cleared notification can be restored.

You are looking for Activity history
Settings > Privacy & security > Activity history is a separate feature. Microsoft describes it as a record of activities such as apps used, files opened, and websites browsed; it is not a list of notifications.
