Windows 11’s redesigned, customizable context menu is a Windows Insider feature, not a setting confirmed to be available on every Windows 11 PC. If your build includes it, open Settings > Personalization > Context menu. On certain preview builds where the page is missing, a third-party guide reports enabling it with ViveTool’s feature ID 60813048; that workaround is build-dependent and is not a Microsoft-supported setting.
Check whether the setting is already available
Microsoft announced on August 17, 2026, that the new context-menu experience was rolling out to Windows Insiders. Its announcement does not establish general availability for all Windows 11 users. Check your current Windows build and channel before trying a feature-flag workaround. If the feature is present, go to Settings > Personalization > Context menu.
Microsoft describes options for controlling built-in commands and app extensions, changing how common actions appear, hiding the submenu, and moving Properties to the bottom of the menu. The controls are intended to let you choose which actions are easy to reach and which extensions appear in the main menu.

Pureinfotech reports that the feature is supported on Windows 11 build 26340.9212 or higher in the Experimental channel for version 26H2. The same guide says the steps worked on KB5120998 build 26200.9267 for version 25H2. These are the guide’s compatibility reports, not a Microsoft support guarantee; the flag may not work on other builds or channels.

- Download the ViveTool ZIP file and extract it.
- Copy the path to the extracted ViveTool folder.
- Open Command Prompt as administrator.
- Change to the extracted folder, replacing the example path with the one on your PC:
cd c:folderpathViveTool-v0.x.x - Run
vivetool /enable /id:60813048. - Restart the PC.
- After it starts, check Settings > Personalization > Context menu.
The feature ID and these steps are reported by Pureinfotech; Microsoft’s announcement does not provide this ViveTool procedure. If the setting does not appear after restarting, your build may not expose the feature.
Configure the menu to suit your workflow
When the Context menu page is available, use its controls to choose which actions and extensions you want visible. Microsoft says the customizable options include:

- Toggle built-in commands such as Send to and Create shortcut, and enable Print.
- Choose which app extensions appear in the main menu and which are placed in the submenu; the submenu can also be hidden.
- Show Cut, Copy, Paste, Rename, Delete, and Share inline as text rather than as icons.
- Move Properties to the bottom of the menu.
App extensions are menu entries added by applications. Microsoft PowerToys developer documentation describes Windows 11 context-menu handlers as sparse MSIX packages that expose IExplorerCommand; that is background on how handlers are implemented, not a prerequisite for changing the menu settings.
Turn the feature flag off
If you enabled the flag with ViveTool and want to reverse that change, Pureinfotech documents this command:

vivetool /disable /id:60813048
Run it from the extracted ViveTool folder in an administrator Command Prompt, then restart the PC.

Should you enable it now or wait?
- Use the Settings page if it already appears on your PC; this is the direct way to configure the feature.
- Consider ViveTool only if you are on one of the builds and channels reported by the guide and are comfortable using a third-party command-line utility to toggle a preview feature.
- Wait for rollout if you are on a different build, need a stable supported configuration, or do not want to use a feature flag. Microsoft’s announcement confirms an Insider rollout, but does not establish general availability as of October 7, 2026.
