To see whether your PC meets the published baseline for Squadron 42, compare its Windows version, CPU, graphics card, RAM and storage with the checklist below. RSI’s current requirements cover CIG games including Squadron 42, but they do not guarantee a particular frame rate or final campaign performance. Squadron 42 is still in development and is not available to download, according to RSI’s support page updated February 4, 2026.
Squadron 42 PC requirements at a glance
Roberts Space Industries (RSI) publishes one shared baseline for CIG games, including Star Citizen and Squadron 42. Its requirements page was updated December 17, 2025. Compare your computer component by component:

These are RSI’s published minimums, not a final recommended-specification list. RSI does not state a target resolution, graphics preset or frame rate for Squadron 42. See RSI’s Game and Launcher Requirements.

- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
dxdiagand press Enter to open DirectX Diagnostic Tool. - Review the system information for Windows and processor details, and check the display tab for graphics information. Select Save All Information if you want to save a report.
- For another view, right-click the Windows button, search for System Information, and open the app. Expand its sections to inspect hardware details, including the graphics card.
- Compare the operating system, processor, graphics card, RAM and SSD against the requirements table. For storage, check the drive type and capacity in Windows storage settings or File Explorer.
RSI describes DxDiag and System Information as built-in ways to review your PC; you do not need a paid diagnostic app for this check. RSI’s requirements article includes its Windows-check instructions.

What a pass or a shortfall means
If your PC meets every listed item
Your computer meets RSI’s currently published baseline. That is not confirmation that the finished campaign will run well on it: the game is unavailable to download and test, and RSI has not published a separate final Squadron 42 specification or performance target.
If your PC misses one or more items
It does not meet RSI’s published minimum baseline. Identify the specific shortfall before considering an upgrade: the processor must support the named instructions, the graphics card must meet the DirectX and memory requirements, and the system needs the stated RAM and SSD capacity. Meeting one requirement—for example, adding an SSD—does not establish overall compatibility.

Platform, drive and other notes
Linux and macOS
RSI’s requirements page says it does not currently support Linux or macOS. This is RSI’s stated position as of the page’s December 17, 2025 update; platform support may change. Check the current RSI requirements page.

Launcher and Star Citizen storage details
RSI also recommends an NTFS-formatted drive with at least 100 GB available for the RSI Launcher and Star Citizen installation, plus at least 10 GB of additional SSD space for the pagefile. Those figures refer to the launcher and Star Citizen; they are not a confirmed standalone Squadron 42 install-size estimate. RSI lists .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.5.2, and recommends network ports TCP 8000–8020 and UDP 64090–64110. RSI’s requirements article has the details.

Squadron 42 availability matters
As of RSI’s February 4, 2026 support-page update, Squadron 42 is in development and cannot be downloaded. RSI says accounts that own a pledge containing Squadron 42 will be able to download it after development is complete, the game has been tested and it has been released. That means there is currently no way to verify the finished game’s performance on your PC. Read RSI’s download availability notice. RSI’s Get Started: Checklist, updated April 16, 2026, also advises reviewing the published specifications and notes that the game is still in development.
