Samsung has not announced a Galaxy Note revival or a return date. As of the materials available through October 7, 2026, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is the closest current practical Samsung phone option for people who want an S Pen, but Samsung has not called it a Note successor. Company comments about developing S Pen technology indicate continued interest in the stylus, not a commitment to bring back the Note name.
Has Samsung confirmed a Galaxy Note comeback?
No. Samsung’s February 25, 2026, announcement introduced the Galaxy S26 series, not a new Galaxy Note. The company’s 2026 first-quarter interim report lists specifications for the S26 family, including the S26 Ultra’s 6.9-inch display, but does not announce a separate Note line. Those materials establish what Samsung released; they do not reveal the company’s private plans. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 announcement and its 2026 first-quarter interim report are the relevant official references.
The careful answer to “Will Samsung bring back the Note?” is unconfirmed. There is no cited announcement of a Note-branded phone or revival timetable, and the available evidence does not support a prediction that one will or will not arrive.
What Samsung’s S Pen comments do—and don’t—tell us
Samsung is exploring stylus-enabled designs
In an interview reported by Tom’s Guide on July 22, 2026, Samsung executive vice president HS Moon said the company continued to explore digitizer and S Pen technology in a slimmer form factor. Moon’s reported remarks discussed design priorities for foldables, including slimmer and lighter devices. They indicate interest in stylus technology, but do not name a future Galaxy Note or promise a product. Tom’s Guide’s report on Moon’s comments provides the interview context.

- The Galaxy Note20 features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with Full HD+ resolution and HDR10+ support, offering bright, vibrant colors and sharp detail, making it perfect for productivity, streaming, and gaming.
Samsung says the S Pen remains a core technology
Android Authority reported on February 27, 2026, that Samsung MX COO Won-Joon Choi told Bloomberg that the company was working on more advanced S Pen technology and that the S Pen would remain one of Samsung’s core technologies. This is a secondary report of an interview, not a direct Samsung product announcement. It suggests continued investment in the stylus while leaving the device, form factor, branding, and timing unresolved. Android Authority’s report attributes the comments to Choi.
What can Note fans use now?
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is a current Samsung phone with S Pen support, making it a practical option for some Note users who want a stylus phone today. That is a functional alternative, not a renamed Note or a confirmed successor. Samsung’s U.S. support guide lists the S26 Ultra and several earlier S Ultra models, along with Note10 and Note20 devices, among compatible S Pen products. Compatibility and feature support depend on the exact phone and pen. Samsung’s U.S. guide to its S Pens lists supported devices and model-specific details.

- The Galaxy Note20 Ultra features a massive 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with Quad HD+ resolution, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and HDR10+ support, offering incredibly smooth visuals, vibrant colors, and precise touch response, perfect for gaming, media, and professional work.
One meaningful difference: Samsung says the Galaxy S26 Ultra S Pen does not support Bluetooth functionality or Air Actions. If you rely on remote shutter control or gesture-based functions from an older S Pen, check the exact feature list before switching. Do not assume that a replacement pen or another compatible S Pen restores features the S26 Ultra pen does not support.

What Note20 and Note20 Ultra owners should check
Android Authority reported on September 4, 2025, that the Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra had stopped receiving support and that the August 2025 security patch was their final update. This is a dated report, not a live status check for every regional variant. If you are considering either model as a primary phone, or continuing to rely on one, check Samsung’s current support information for your exact model and region. Android Authority’s report on the Note20 update end describes the reported status at that time.

A confirmed comeback would require a Samsung announcement identifying a Galaxy Note product or explicitly describing a Note-line revival. Statements about keeping the S Pen, developing a slimmer stylus-enabled design, or exploring foldable technology do not meet that bar. Until Samsung announces a Note-branded device, the S26 Ultra is best understood as a current S Pen phone option—not proof that the Galaxy Note line is returning.
