Short answer: not yet, based on the currently reviewed announcements. Shadow of the Road is listed for Windows PC on Steam with a March 10, 2027 release date. No Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, or other console edition has been announced in those sources. That is an absence of confirmation, not proof that a console version will never happen.
Steam also lists support for Xbox controllers, but that means you can use one on the PC version. It does not mean the game has been announced for Xbox consoles.
What is confirmed right now
Shadow of the Road is being developed by Another Angle Games and published by Owlcat Games. The current Steam store listing is the clearest platform reference available: it identifies a Windows PC release and gives March 10, 2027 as the scheduled date.

| Platform or format | Current status | What the evidence supports |
|---|---|---|
| Windows PC via Steam | Confirmed listing | Steam lists the game and currently shows March 10, 2027. |
| Xbox consoles | Not announced | The reviewed announcements do not list an Xbox edition. |
| PlayStation consoles | Not announced | No PlayStation version is identified in the reviewed sources. |
| Nintendo consoles | Not announced | No Nintendo version is identified in the reviewed sources. |
| Other consoles | Not announced | No additional console platform is confirmed. |
| Xbox controller on PC | Supported | Steam lists full controller support, including Xbox controllers. |
That table separates two facts that are easy to conflate. A game can support an Xbox controller when it runs on a computer without being available for an Xbox console. The controller is an input device; the console edition is a separate build, certification process and store listing.

Release date: why the schedule changed
The date has moved. Earlier reporting identified November 12, 2026 as the PC launch date. On October 9, 2026, Windows Central reported that Owlcat had delayed the release to March 10, 2027. The Steam listing now reflects the later date, so March 10 is the date readers should use when planning around the current schedule.
A store date is a planned schedule, not an irrevocable guarantee. Development milestones, testing, certification and publishing decisions can still alter it. The responsible wording is “currently listed for March 10, 2027,” rather than treating that day as certain. If you are arranging time off, buying hardware or making a preorder decision, check the Steam page and official announcements again near launch.
Timeline
- Earlier 2026 reporting: November 12, 2026 was presented as the intended PC release date.
- October 9, 2026: Windows Central reported the move to March 10, 2027.
- Current Steam listing: March 10, 2027 is the date displayed for the PC release.
The delay report also noted that no Xbox release had been announced. Nothing in the reviewed material adds a later console reveal.

This is not a conventional historical samurai simulation. Steam describes it as a story-driven, turn-based RPG in which feudal Japan meets magic and machinery. The setting is an imagined, fantastical version of 1868 Japan, so the year provides the historical frame while supernatural forces and technology reshape the world.

The official Steam Community announcement describes “a band of travellers caught between a fading old order and an uncertain future of progress – with a few supernatural complications.” That wording points to a character-focused campaign rather than a purely combat-driven game. Party relationships can be shaped by player choices, and battles use turn-based tactics.
Why the setting matters to platform expectations
The premise combines a specific historical-inspired setting with systems that require substantial narrative and tactical design. That tells you what the game is trying to deliver, but it does not reveal a console roadmap. A detailed setting, a named publisher or a controller option should not be treated as indirect evidence of an Xbox port.
Why Xbox controller support does not mean an Xbox version
Steam’s entry lists full controller support and specifically names Xbox controllers. On a Windows computer, that lets a player use a compatible Xbox-style gamepad instead of a mouse and keyboard. The game still launches through the PC version sold on Steam.
An Xbox console release would require a separate announcement identifying the console family, a console store page and a release plan. None of those elements is supplied by the controller-support label. Reading “Xbox controller supported” as “available on Xbox” is therefore a platform error, not a minor wording difference.

What a PC player can reasonably expect
- You can plan around the Windows Steam listing.
- You may choose mouse and keyboard or a supported Xbox controller.
- Controller support does not establish console-specific features, performance targets or a console launch date.
- Steam’s listing does not, by itself, provide a PlayStation or Nintendo entitlement.
What “not announced” means
“Not announced” is deliberately narrower than “not coming.” The available statements establish a PC listing and do not establish a console edition. They do not prove that a future Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo release is impossible, canceled or permanently excluded.
This distinction matters because platform plans can be disclosed after a PC announcement, sometimes close to launch or after release. Conversely, a publisher can decide not to expand beyond PC. Without an official platform statement, either prediction would go beyond the evidence.
For now, there are no two confirmed console editions to compare. The useful comparison is between the confirmed PC route and the unconfirmed console possibility: the former has a storefront listing and date; the latter has neither in the reviewed announcements.

If you want to play on Xbox
If Xbox is your preferred platform, treat the game as a watch item rather than a confirmed purchase. Use this checklist to avoid relying on misleading listings or old articles:

- What's in the box: Xbox Series S 512GB console, 1 Wireless Controller, High Speed HDMI cable.
- CPU: 8X Cores @ 3.6 GHz (3.4 GHz w/SMT) Custom Zen 2 CPU; GPU: 4 TFLOPS, 20 CUs @1.565 GHz Custom RDNA 2 GPU; SOC Die Size: 197.05 mm2.
- Memory: 10GB GDDR6 128 bit-wide bus; Memory Bandwidth: 8GB @ 224 GB/s, 2GB @ 56 GB/s.; Internal Storage: 512GB Custom NVME SSD
- Gaming Resolution: 1440p; Performance Target: Up to 120 FPS; HDMI Features: Auto Low Latency Mode, HDMI Variable Refresh Rate, AMD FreeSync.
- Check the official game announcement. Look for an explicit Xbox platform name, not a reference to Xbox controllers.
- Check the Xbox store. A genuine console plan should eventually have an Xbox product page or an official platform announcement directing players to one.
- Check the release date attached to that platform. A PC date does not automatically apply to consoles; console versions can launch later or follow a different schedule.
- Verify the exact console family. “Xbox” can refer broadly to the brand, while a listing may specify particular generations or devices.
- Recheck close to the PC launch. The current PC schedule is March 10, 2027, and platform information can change before then.
Do not buy a PC copy on the assumption that it will create an Xbox entitlement later. A Steam purchase and an Xbox console license are separate storefront transactions unless a publisher explicitly announces a cross-buy arrangement.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. If you are comfortable playing on PC
The PC path is the only one established by the current listing. Steam identifies Windows as the platform, and the game can be controlled with a supported Xbox controller if that is your preferred layout. You do not need an Xbox console to use that controller with the PC release.
The reviewed material does not state minimum or recommended PC specifications, storage requirements, operating-system build, display targets or performance settings. Do not infer those details from the controller label or from the game’s genre. Before buying, read the system-requirements section on the live Steam page and confirm that your hardware meets the publisher’s stated requirements.
Questions to check before purchase
- Does your Windows PC meet the currently posted CPU, GPU, memory and storage requirements?
- Are you buying the Windows version you intend to play, rather than waiting for a separate console edition?
- Will you use mouse and keyboard or a compatible controller?
- Are you comfortable with the possibility that the listed date may move again?
These checks address practical PC decisions without implying that unlisted technical specifications are known.

How to follow platform announcements without getting misled
Use the Steam store listing for the current PC date and platform metadata, then look for a dated announcement from Owlcat Games or Another Angle Games when evaluating a console claim. News coverage can accurately report a delay while still reflecting an older platform picture, so compare the publication date with the latest store information.
Watch for precise language. “Full controller support,” “Xbox controller,” or “play with a gamepad” describes input. “Xbox Series,” “Xbox One,” or an Xbox store listing describes a console platform. A headline that uses “Xbox” without specifying which meaning may be referring only to the controller.
When a console announcement does arrive, confirm whether it gives a launch date, supported hardware generations, feature parity, save-transfer details and a separate purchase requirement. Until then, those questions have no established answers for Shadow of the Road.

Shadow of the Road is currently a Windows PC game on Steam, scheduled for March 10, 2027. Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo and other console versions are unannounced in the reviewed sources. You can use an Xbox controller on the PC version, but that support is not evidence of an Xbox console port. Plan around the PC listing only, and treat any console availability as something that would require a future official announcement.
