Yes. An iPhone updates its clock for daylight-saving-time changes when automatic date and time are enabled. It uses the iPhone’s time zone to determine the correct local time, so the clock should move forward or backward when daylight saving starts or ends.
The setting is not controlled by the 24-Hour Time option, and turning on Location Services generally is not enough by itself. The iPhone also needs internet access, and its specific time-zone location service must be enabled.
How to enable automatic daylight-saving-time updates
- Open Settings.
- Tap General.
- Tap Date & Time.
- Turn on Set Automatically.
Apple’s documentation uses two labels for this switch. Your iPhone may show Set Automatically or Set Time Automatically. They refer to the same automatic date-and-time control.

Check the time-zone location service
Location Services can be enabled while the specific service needed for time-zone detection is still off. Check it using this path:
Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services > Setting Time Zone
Turn on Setting Time Zone. Apple says this allows the iPhone to use its current location to determine the correct time zone.

What the iPhone needs for automatic updates

If the clock did not change
Work through these checks in order:
- Connect the iPhone to Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- Open
Settings > General > Date & Timeand confirm that the automatic-setting switch is on. - Open
Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Servicesand confirm that Setting Time Zone is on. - Install the latest available iPhone software by opening
Settings > General > Software Update. - Restart the iPhone.
If the iPhone displays a message saying that updated time-zone information is available, Apple says to restart the iPhone and any paired Apple Watch.
A time-zone change may also fail when the phone has no service or when Location Services is off. The iPhone User Guide says the time zone is normally set automatically, but it can be changed manually in those situations.
Why the automatic switch may be unavailable
The switch can be dimmed or missing for reasons unrelated to daylight saving itself. Apple lists these possible causes:

- A Screen Time passcode is restricting changes.
- A corporate or school configuration profile has device restrictions.
- The carrier, country, or region does not support automatic time setting.
- The iPhone has no network service or internet connection.
If a work or school iPhone is restricted, the device administrator may need to change the policy before you can edit the setting.

If automatic setting is unavailable or does not work, Apple’s manual procedure starts by turning off the automatic switch:
- Go to
Settings > General > Date & Time. - Turn off Set Automatically or Set Time Automatically.
- Tap Time Zone and enter a city, or tap the displayed date to set the date and time manually.
A manually selected time zone is not automatic daylight-saving handling. If you leave automatic setting disabled, the iPhone will not independently adjust the clock when daylight saving changes. You will need to update the time zone or time yourself.

Do not confuse 24-hour time with daylight saving
24-Hour Time changes the clock’s display format—for example, it displays 1:00 PM as 13:00. It does not control time zones or daylight-saving-time changes.
You can find it at:
Settings > General > Date & Time > 24-Hour Time
Is there a command to force a daylight-saving update?
Apple does not document an iPhone Terminal command, dialer code, or other special command for forcing a daylight-saving update. The supported controls are the automatic-setting and time-zone settings in the Settings app. If the phone reports that new time-zone information is available, restart the iPhone—and a paired Apple Watch, if applicable.

FAQ
Will my iPhone change time automatically when daylight saving starts?
Yes, provided automatic date and time are enabled and the iPhone can obtain current time-zone information.
Does turning on Location Services enable daylight-saving updates?
Not necessarily. Also enable Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services > Setting Time Zone. The iPhone also needs internet access, and automatic time setting must be enabled.
Why is Set Automatically greyed out on my iPhone?
A Screen Time passcode, corporate configuration profile, carrier limitation, or country or region restriction may prevent changes. Lack of service can also affect automatic time-zone detection.
Does 24-Hour Time control daylight saving?
No. It only changes whether the clock uses a 12-hour or 24-hour display.
Can I force my iPhone to update daylight-saving time with a code?
Apple does not document a command or dialer code for this. Check the automatic date-and-time and time-zone settings, update iOS, and restart the iPhone if needed.
