Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet could eventually share some action-game traits with God of War, but that comparison is not confirmed. The cited reporting does not establish that a former Naughty Dog animator predicted it, or that the game’s combat follows years of hyper-real motion capture. Naughty Dog has promised ambitious gameplay without revealing the final combat system.
What is confirmed about Intergalactic?
Naughty Dog announced Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet on December 12, 2024, as a new franchise in development for PlayStation 5. The studio said development had been underway since 2020. The story follows Jordan A. Mun, a bounty hunter stranded on Sempiria, a distant planet whose communication with the rest of the universe went dark hundreds of years ago. In the game’s fictional lore, Jordan may be the first person in more than 600 years to leave the planet’s orbit. Naughty Dog’s announcement identifies Tati Gabrielle as Jordan’s performer and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross as the composers.
Studio head Neil Druckmann described the gameplay goal as “the deepest gameplay in Naughty Dog’s history,” building on the studio’s earlier franchises. That is an ambition, not confirmation of specific mechanics or proof that the finished game will resemble God of War.

Has a former Naughty Dog animator predicted a God of War-style combat system?
Not in the cited reporting. The closest matching former-developer story identifies Matt Radford as a former Naughty Dog senior VFX artist, not an animator. GamesRadar’s report says Radford expects to play Intergalactic and praises Naughty Dog for taking artistic risks. It does not attribute a combat prediction or a comparison to God of War to him.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That distinction matters: general enthusiasm for a game is not evidence about how its fighting works. The same report does not say that years of hyper-real motion capture led Naughty Dog to change its combat approach.
What has Naughty Dog said about the game’s gameplay direction?
In a September 11, 2025 interview with Game Informer, Druckmann described a creative progression through Naughty Dog’s past work: realistic character-action and shooter elements in Uncharted, followed by RPG elements and broader linear layouts in The Last of Us, leading toward a more ambitious science-fiction game.

This describes the studio’s experience and direction, not a revealed combat blueprint. The interview’s speculation about RPG structure and open hubs is the article author’s, not confirmed Naughty Dog design. Druckmann also described a process in which the team develops documents and character backstories early, then uses prototypes to find what works. Prototyping signals exploration; it does not tell players which combat systems made the final game.
How much can the God of War comparison tell us?
At this stage, it is a possibility to speculate about, not a reliable description of Intergalactic. Both games can be discussed as action-adventure titles, but the cited sources disclose no final combat mechanics for Naughty Dog’s game. They do not establish whether it will use close-quarters fighting, particular weapons, a specific camera approach, or other features that would make the comparison meaningful.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
The safer takeaway is that Naughty Dog wants to extend its previous work. Its announcement promises deeper gameplay, and Druckmann’s later comments place the project in the context of the studio’s action, shooter, and RPG experience. Neither statement confirms that combat will swing toward God of War.

In a September 29, 2026 report, Game Informer said Druckmann planned for Naughty Dog to remain quiet about the game for the rest of 2026 and fully reveal it in 2027. He said, “In 2027, that changes. We’ll fully reveal Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and give you a proper look at Jordan’s wild sci-fi adventure.” The report lists PlayStation 5 as the platform and the release date as TBA. A planned reveal is not a launch announcement; the cited reporting does not establish a release date or purchasable edition.
