No—Halo: Parasite’s Wake is not a PC game. It is a horror novel by Tim Lebbon. Halo’s official announcement places the novel’s story during events on Alpha Halo and connects that setting with Halo: Campaign Evolved, the separate game for which PC requirements have been published.
If you meant the game, use the checklist below. Your processor, graphics card and its VRAM, installed memory, free SSD space and Windows version must all meet the published minimum. The minimum is a compatibility threshold, not a promise of a particular frame rate, resolution or graphics preset.
What Halo: Parasite’s Wake actually is
A novel, not executable software
Halo: Parasite’s Wake is a horror novel written by Tim Lebbon. A book cannot be installed or run on a Windows gaming PC, so there are no “Parasite’s Wake PC requirements” to compare with your hardware.
The game that is probably meant
Halo’s official Canon Fodder announcement says the novel is set during events on Alpha Halo—the same broad period players will experience in Halo: Campaign Evolved. That makes Campaign Evolved the relevant title for a system-compatibility question. Keep the two products separate: buying or reading the novel does not provide a game license, and meeting the game’s requirements does not apply to the book.

Halo: Campaign Evolved PC requirements
The official Halo PC-spec announcement and the live Steam listing describe the same general performance class: a modern midrange processor and graphics card, 16 GB of RAM and 100 GB of SSD space. The details differ slightly for Windows, and the Steam page adds a recommended tier.
| Component | Official Halo minimum | Steam listing |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 22H2 64-bit or Windows 11 | Windows 11 minimum |
| CPU | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i7-10700K | Same models shown for minimum |
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Super, AMD Radeon RX 6600 or Intel Arc A580 | Same listed GPU class for minimum |
| Dedicated VRAM | 8 GB | The surfaced requirement text does not separately state a VRAM figure |
| System RAM | 16 GB | 16 GB minimum; 32 GB recommended |
| Storage | 100 GB SSD | 100 GB minimum and 100 GB recommended |
| Recommended CPU | Not stated in the official minimum announcement | AMD Ryzen 7 7700 or Intel Core i7-12700K |
| Recommended GPU | Not stated in the official minimum announcement | AMD Radeon RX 9070 or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti |
The named CPU and GPU models are the published comparison points, not a benchmark equivalence list. A processor or graphics card that appears similar on paper can behave differently because of its architecture, cooling, power limits and driver support. If your component is not one of the listed models, treat the result as an informed comparison rather than an official guarantee.
How to check your PC, step by step
1. Identify the processor and installed RAM
- Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Windows Task Manager.
- Select Performance, then CPU. Copy the complete processor name, including its Ryzen or Core model number.
- Select Memory and note the total installed RAM. The game’s minimum is 16 GB; 32 GB is the Steam-listed recommended amount.
You can also press Windows key + R, enter msinfo32, and press Enter. The System Information window shows the processor, installed physical memory and Windows edition in one place. Record the exact model rather than only the brand; “Core i7” or “Ryzen 5” by itself is not enough to compare against the requirements.

2. Check the graphics processor and VRAM
- In Task Manager, open Performance and select each GPU entry. Systems with integrated and discrete graphics can show more than one GPU.
- Record the full GPU name. For the dedicated adapter, note Dedicated GPU memory; the official Halo minimum calls for 8 GB of VRAM.
- If Task Manager is unclear, press Windows key + R, enter
dxdiag, choose the Display tab and read the device name and display memory fields.
Do not confuse shared system memory with dedicated VRAM. A laptop may report a graphics chip that borrows ordinary RAM, while the official minimum separately identifies 8 GB of video memory. Also check which GPU the game will use if your computer has both integrated and discrete graphics.
3. Confirm Windows edition, architecture and version
- Press Windows key + R, type
winver, and press Enter to see the Windows release and version. - For fuller details, open Settings → System → About and check System type. The official requirement specifies 64-bit Windows.
- If you are on Windows 10, verify that the release is 22H2. A 32-bit installation or an older Windows 10 release does not match the stated minimum.
Windows requirements are the one area where the sources do not match exactly. Halo’s official announcement allows Windows 10 22H2 64-bit or Windows 11, while the Steam listing currently shows Windows 11 as the minimum. Treat the live store page and current Halo support guidance as the final authority when you install or purchase, and recheck both if the listing has changed.
4. Check free space and the drive type
- Open Settings → System → Storage to see available capacity on each drive.
- In Task Manager → Performance, select the drive and check whether Windows identifies it as an SSD.
- Make sure at least 100 GB is available on the SSD where the game will be installed. Leave additional working room for updates and normal Windows operation rather than filling the drive completely.
The published requirement says 100 GB on an SSD. It does not establish an additional download size, patch allowance or a separate HDD option, so do not assume that a 100 GB mechanical-drive installation meets the stated storage requirement.

| Your result | What it means | Practical next step |
|---|---|---|
| All official minimums met, and Windows 11 is installed | Your PC matches the published baseline for the related game. | Check the final Steam and Halo requirements again at installation, then keep drivers and Windows current. |
| All hardware minimums met, but you use Windows 10 22H2 64-bit | This matches Halo’s official announcement but not the Windows 11 wording currently shown on Steam. | Verify the current store and support guidance before buying or installing. |
| 16 GB RAM and 100 GB SSD, but GPU VRAM is below 8 GB | You do not meet the official graphics-memory minimum even if the GPU’s name looks close. | Do not treat shared memory as a substitute; compare the exact dedicated GPU model. |
| GPU meets the list but CPU is below the named minimum | The processor remains a failed minimum requirement. | Check the exact CPU model and platform; a stronger GPU cannot make an under-spec CPU officially compliant. |
| Hardware meets minimums but free SSD space is under 100 GB | There is not enough room for the published installation requirement. | Free space on the target SSD or choose a larger SSD before installation. |
| Only the recommended tier is missing | You may still meet minimum compatibility; recommended parts are for a higher target, not a prerequisite. | Use the minimum result as the yes/no answer and avoid assuming recommended performance. |
For a laptop, use the exact processor and GPU model, not the laptop family name. Mobile versions can have different power limits and memory configurations. For a desktop, verify that the listed graphics card is actually installed and connected to the display; a motherboard video output can make an integrated GPU appear active even when a discrete card is available.
What “minimum” does—and does not—promise
Minimum requirements establish a floor at which the developer and storefront consider the game compatible. They do not state a frame rate, resolution, graphics preset, ray-tracing mode, loading time or multiplayer experience. The published material contains no benchmark result for your particular PC, so a machine that passes the list may still need lower settings or a resolution adjustment.

Recommended requirements are a separate target. Steam lists a Ryzen 7 7700 or Core i7-12700K, a Radeon RX 9070 or GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and 32 GB of RAM, while keeping storage at 100 GB. Those parts indicate a higher performance class; they are not needed merely to satisfy the minimum. No official source supplied a frame-rate target attached to either tier.

The game reports an unsupported operating system
Recheck winver, install pending Windows updates, and confirm that the system is 64-bit. If you are on Windows 10 22H2 and Steam insists on Windows 11, use the current Steam requirement and Halo support guidance rather than assuming the older announcement still controls the release build.

Close memory-heavy applications and inspect Task Manager again after a restart. For VRAM, read the dedicated-memory value for the discrete GPU; the total “shared GPU memory” figure is not the same measurement. If your computer has multiple GPUs, make sure you are comparing the adapter that will run the game.
Best Value
There is enough total disk capacity but not enough on the target SSD
Capacity is measured per drive. Having 100 GB spread across several disks does not satisfy a 100 GB installation on one target SSD. Select the intended library drive in Steam and confirm its free-space figure before beginning the download.
The PC meets minimums but performance is poor
Passing the checklist does not guarantee a preset or frame rate. First confirm that the game is using the dedicated GPU, install current graphics drivers from the GPU manufacturer, close unnecessary background programs and check that the SSD has adequate free space. Then use the game’s own resolution and quality controls. These steps are troubleshooting actions, not evidence that a particular setting will deliver a specific frame rate.
Should you upgrade?
Do not buy a component based only on the title “Parasite’s Wake.” The novel has no hardware requirement; only the separate game does. Before considering an upgrade, record the exact CPU, GPU, dedicated VRAM, RAM, Windows release and SSD capacity. A graphics-card upgrade will not correct insufficient RAM or an unsupported operating system, and extra RAM will not supply the 8 GB dedicated VRAM called out by Halo.

Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →If one item is below minimum, identify that item first and check the rest of the platform: a new GPU may require power, case clearance and an appropriate CPU, while a CPU change may require a new motherboard and memory. The available requirements do not provide a universal upgrade recommendation, price or compatibility list, so any purchase should be based on your complete system and budget.
Final answer
Halo: Parasite’s Wake will not “run” on a PC because it is Tim Lebbon’s novel. If your intended game is Halo: Campaign Evolved, compare your system with the published baseline: Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i7-10700K, RTX 2060 Super, RX 6600 or Arc A580, 8 GB dedicated VRAM, 16 GB RAM and 100 GB on an SSD. Confirm Windows carefully because Halo’s announcement lists Windows 10 22H2 64-bit or Windows 11, while Steam currently lists Windows 11. A yes/no answer is reliable only after checking every component and the current requirements page.
