Rockstar has not announced a PC version or PC release date for Grand Theft Auto VI. Its official materials currently list PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the game scheduled for November 19, 2026. A PC edition remains possible, but Rockstar’s past releases provide context rather than a reliable timetable.
What Rockstar has officially confirmed
As of Rockstar’s official materials checked through October 13, 2026, Grand Theft Auto VI is announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Rockstar’s support page, updated August 18, 2026, lists those two platforms. An August 6, 2026 Newswire announcement uses the same platform list: “Grand Theft Auto VI is coming November 19 to PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S.”

Rockstar announced November 19, 2026 as the release date on November 6, 2025. The December 5, 2023 first-trailer announcement also named PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but none of these official announcements listed Windows PC.
That distinction matters. Rockstar has not confirmed a PC edition, but it also has not said that GTA VI will never come to PC. The accurate answer to “Will GTA 6 come to PC?” is therefore unknown: no PC version or PC timing has been announced in the official sources reviewed.

| Question | Confirmed information | What remains unknown |
|---|---|---|
| Launch platforms | PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, according to Rockstar’s support page and 2026 announcement | Whether a PC edition will be produced |
| Console release date | November 19, 2026, announced by Rockstar on November 6, 2025 | A PC release date or launch window |

The physical-format detail applies to the announced console product. Rockstar describes a physical box whose code downloads the game; it does not describe a disc inside. Availability and packaging can vary by region, so check the product listing for the exact platform and edition before buying.
What Rockstar’s previous PC releases show
Rockstar has brought major games to PC after their console launches. That history makes a later PC release plausible, but two examples cannot establish a standard delay or prove that GTA VI will follow the same path.
Grand Theft Auto V
In a September 12, 2014 announcement, Rockstar said the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of GTA V would arrive on November 18, 2014, while the PC version was planned for January 27, 2015. Rockstar subsequently announced the PC launch for April 14, 2015.

The earlier PC date also moved, demonstrating that even an announced target is not necessarily final. The sequence shows that Rockstar can separate a PC launch from the console release and revise the schedule during development; it does not supply a formula for GTA VI.

Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018. Rockstar later announced the PC version for November 5, 2019, a little more than a year after the console release.
This is a substantially longer wait than GTA V’s eventual console-to-PC interval. It is useful evidence that Rockstar’s timing has varied significantly between projects, not evidence of a predictable “usual” delay.
The two examples compared
| Game | Original console release | PC launch | Approximate gap | What the record establishes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GTA V | November 18, 2014 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One | April 14, 2015 | About five months | A planned January date moved before launch |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 26, 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One | November 5, 2019 | A little over one year | Rockstar used a much longer post-console interval |
| GTA VI | November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S | Not announced by Rockstar in the official materials reviewed | Not stated | Past releases offer context, not a forecast |
Why Rockstar’s history cannot predict a GTA 6 PC date
Release timing depends on the individual game, the target hardware, development priorities and the publisher’s launch strategy. GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 were developed for different console generations and released under different circumstances. Their delays differ by many months, so averaging them would create a number with no predictive authority.
There is also an important difference between an omission and a cancellation. When Rockstar’s platform list names PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S but not PC, the list tells you what has been announced. It does not establish that a PC version is impossible, cancelled or permanently excluded.

- GTA 5 SUR PS3 / TAKE TWO - ROCKSTAR GAME
For the same reason, rumors, retailer listings, leaked specifications and predictions from commentators should not be treated as a release announcement. Until Rockstar or Take-Two publishes a PC platform statement, there is no official date to use for planning or pre-ordering.
When will GTA 6 come to PC?
There is no official answer. Rockstar has not announced a PC release window, so any specific year, month or number of months after the console launch would be speculation.
The historical range is wide: GTA V’s PC version followed its current-generation console release by about five months, while Red Dead Redemption 2’s PC version arrived more than a year after its console debut. Those intervals should be read as examples of what happened, not estimates for GTA VI. A future announcement could set a date, change it, or reveal that the PC version is planned for a different stage of development.

The first dependable signal will be an official Rockstar or Take-Two announcement that names PC. A proper announcement should identify the platform and, if available, a release date or window. Until then, “GTA 6 PC release date” is a search for information that has not yet been published officially.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Should you buy a console version or wait for PC?
The practical choice depends on whether you value a confirmed launch date more than the flexibility of playing on a computer. No recommendation can account for your existing hardware, budget or preferred control setup, but the decision can be made without guessing about an unannounced port.
Play on an announced platform if:
- You want to play on November 19, 2026, the only announced GTA VI release date.
- You already own a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S and do not want to wait through an undefined PC period.
- You are comfortable buying a console edition even though Rockstar has not confirmed whether a PC edition will follow.
Wait for PC if:
- You primarily play on Windows and are unwilling to purchase another platform for one game.
- You can accept an indefinite wait because Rockstar has supplied no PC date or window.
- You prefer to make a purchase only after PC features, requirements, storefront availability and launch timing are officially described.
Use a two-stage decision
- Set your deadline. Decide whether playing at the November 19, 2026 launch matters more than waiting.
- Check the official platform list. Use Rockstar’s current support information and Newswire announcements rather than a retailer rumor or an unsourced social-media post.
- Separate confirmed facts from assumptions. The console date is confirmed; a PC date is not. Do not treat the historical GTA V or Red Dead Redemption 2 gap as a promise.
- Reassess after a PC announcement. Once Rockstar names PC, compare the published date, edition, requirements and purchase format with your hardware and plans.
What a future PC announcement would need to clarify
A platform announcement alone would answer the biggest question, but PC players would still need practical information before buying. Rockstar has not published these details for GTA VI in the official materials reviewed.
- Release timing: a firm launch date or a clearly defined window.
- Supported systems: Windows version, processor, memory, graphics hardware and storage requirements.
- Distribution: the stores or launcher through which the PC edition can be purchased and activated.
- Edition differences: whether PC launches with the same content and features as the console editions.
- Online requirements: any account, connection or service requirements for online play.
- Pre-order and upgrade terms: what each edition includes and whether console purchases transfer to PC.
Until those items are published, a PC buyer cannot reliably determine whether an existing computer will run the game or whether a console purchase would offer any future upgrade path.

How to verify a genuine update
Because the PC question attracts speculation, verify any claimed announcement against the publisher’s own channels.
- Look for a Rockstar Newswire post or official support-page update that explicitly names PC.
- Check the publication date and read the platform sentence in context; a trailer or feature article is not automatically a platform announcement.
- Confirm whether the statement gives a date, a window or only says that development is planned.
- Check for a later schedule change. Rockstar’s GTA V history shows that an announced PC date can move.
- Treat a retailer listing as evidence of a listing, not proof of a publisher-confirmed launch, unless Rockstar has made the same announcement.
Bottom line on GTA 6 and PC
GTA VI is officially scheduled for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. Rockstar has not announced a PC version or PC release date in the official materials reviewed through October 13, 2026. GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 demonstrate that Rockstar has released major games on PC after consoles, but their different delays cannot predict GTA VI’s timing. Waiting for PC is a reasonable choice if you can accept an unknown schedule; buying an announced console version is the only way to plan around the confirmed launch date.
