A blinking wireless charger can be charging normally, reporting an error, or shutting down for protection—the meaning depends on the exact charger model. Check that model’s official indicator guide first; then check placement, objects, phone compatibility, power supply, and temperature.
What does a blinking light mean?
There is no universal color or blink-rate code for wireless chargers. For example, Belkin says a green blinking light means charging on its F8M744 pad, while Xiaomi describes a blinking green light on its Mi 20W Wireless Charging Stand as an error and protection phase. On Anker’s Qi2 A2544, the indicator’s location and whether it flashes quickly or slowly help distinguish metal detection from an adapter issue.
Use the LED-status instructions for your charger’s exact model rather than interpreting a blinking light by color alone. The examples below apply only to the named products or product families.

How to troubleshoot a blinking wireless charger

Find the model-specific indicator guide
Check the label on the charger or its packaging for the brand and model number, then look up the manufacturer’s official manual or support page. Note the light’s color, location, and blink rate; manufacturers may assign different meanings to each.

Clear the charging surface and reposition the phone
Remove the phone and any coins, cards, metal plates, or other objects from the pad. Check the phone case for a metal accessory or other attachment, then place the phone in the center of the charging area. Objects can trigger foreign-object detection, while misalignment can prevent charging and may contribute to heat.

Confirm the phone supports wireless charging
Check the phone’s specifications or manufacturer guidance for Qi wireless charging support. A charger cannot charge a phone that lacks wireless charging unless the phone is fitted with a compatible receiver accessory.

Check the adapter and cable against the charger’s requirements
Use the supplied adapter and cable, or alternatives the charger’s manufacturer specifically approves. A computer USB port or an incompatible or underpowered adapter may cause problems on some models. Do not assume one wattage requirement applies to all chargers: Anker specifies a Quick Charge 2.0 or 3.0, or Power Delivery, adapter rated at least 18 W for the slow-flashing alert on its A2544. That instruction is specific to that model.

Let an overheated device cool
If the phone or charger feels unusually hot, stop charging and let it cool before retrying, following the product manual. Heat is one possible cause of an error on some models, not an explanation for every blinking light.

Follow the manufacturer’s service guidance if it still blinks
If the issue continues after the model-specific checks, use only further tests recommended by the manufacturer and contact the charger or phone maker for support. Do not open or attempt to repair the charger unless its manufacturer explicitly provides that procedure.
Examples of model-specific blink meanings

| Anker Qi2 A2544 | Fast flashing on the left or right indicator means metal was detected. Slow flashing on both indicates an incompatible adapter; Anker specifies supported adapter types and a minimum 18 W input for this alert. |
| Xiaomi Mi 20W Wireless Charging Stand | A blinking green light indicates an error and protection phase. Xiaomi’s checks include the USB power source, adapter, metal objects, and whether the phone supports Qi charging. |
| Belkin F8M744 | Green blinking means charging; amber indicates an inadequate supply or cable; red indicates a non-Qi device or misalignment. |
| Huawei’s listed wireless chargers | Fast white blinking signals an error. Possible causes listed for those chargers include insufficient power, cable voltage drop, overheating, foreign objects, positioning, or a receiver or charger fault. |
| Logitech POWERED products | Rapid blinking means an error and automatic shutdown; metal objects and abnormal heat are examples of possible causes. |
| Kia 2026 vehicle charging system | For the system described in Kia’s manual, an orange light that blinks for ten seconds and then turns off indicates improper operation. The manual advises centering the phone and removing objects. |
These examples show why the model and blink pattern matter; they are not a general-purpose color key.

When a replacement charger may be appropriate
Consider replacement only after checking the phone’s compatibility, the charger’s placement and power requirements, and the manufacturer’s troubleshooting guidance. When comparing alternatives, verify that the exact product is listed in the Wireless Power Consortium’s Qi-certified product database, that it supports your phone, and that its required input and included adapter suit your setup. Also check its charging position and the clarity of its indicator and support documentation.
