What percentage of Breeze flights are cancelled? The official DOT quarterly ranking available for January–March 2025 does not list Breeze, so it cannot provide a Breeze-specific rate. Any cancellation percentage also needs a defined period: a month, quarter, or calendar year.
Why there is no verified Breeze percentage in the quarterly ranking
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s May 2025 Air Travel Consumer Report ranks reporting marketing carriers for January–March 2025. Breeze does not appear in that table, so the table does not establish what percentage of Breeze flights were cancelled. Its absence is specific to that ranking; it does not prove that Breeze flight records are absent from every BTS data product.
The separate Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) monthly Reporting Carrier On-Time Performance dataset is described as including scheduled flights, cancellations, diversions, and causes of delay or cancellation. When accessed, its listing showed data through July 2026. That coverage provides a way to calculate a carrier rate, but the dataset description itself does not give a Breeze-specific percentage. What counts as a cancelled flight
BTS defines a cancelled flight as “A flight that was listed in a carrier’s computer reservation system during the seven calendar days prior to scheduled departure but was not operated.” BTS TranStats field definition

A cancellation rate uses cancelled flights divided by scheduled flights for the same carrier and period. It is not the share of passengers affected, nor the share of flights that operated. Delays and diversions are separate measures and should not be folded into the cancellation count.
Systemwide figures provide context, not Breeze’s rate
The DOT’s Table 6B reported a 1.91% cancellation rate across the reporting marketing carriers listed for January–March 2025. The comparable aggregate for January–March 2024 was 1.74%. BTS also reported calendar-year aggregates of 1.4% for reporting marketing carriers in 2024 and 1.3% in 2023. These annual figures use different periods from the quarterly comparison and remain systemwide context rather than Breeze-specific results. BTS year-end 2024 release
How to compare airline cancellation rates fairly
Before comparing two rates, check that they use:
- The same time period, such as the same quarter or calendar year.
- The same denominator: scheduled flights in that period, not passengers, complaints, or only flights completed.
- The same carrier coverage and reporting universe.
- The same cancellation definition, without mixing in delays, diversions, or complaints.
The Air Travel Consumer Report combines distinct data streams: operational performance material draws on BTS data, while consumer complaints are compiled by the Office of Aviation Consumer Protection. A complaint count is not a cancellation-rate denominator. DOT Air Travel Consumer Reports

How complete are the reported figures?
DOT’s Office of Inspector General found that BTS uses informal procedures to identify inaccurate records but does not have a method to verify that carriers reported data for all flights. The figures are official reported statistics, but that completeness limitation matters when interpreting them; it is not a reason to treat the published data as unusable. DOT OIG audit summary
