Short answer: Coinbase lists Micron’s tokenized stock as MUc, but the listing does not mean every account can buy it or move it. Coinbase says these Base-network tokens are unavailable to people in the United States and other restricted jurisdictions. A transfer can also fail when you use a traditional brokerage route such as ACATS for an onchain token, or when your account, wallet, or regulatory status does not qualify.
To diagnose the problem, first identify whether you have MUc, an ordinary Micron share, or another token that tracks Micron. Then check your country, match the transfer method to the asset, and read the exact Coinbase error message.
What Coinbase’s MUc listing actually means
Coinbase’s tokenized-stocks page lists Micron Technology under the symbol MUc. Coinbase describes its tokenized stocks as Base B20 tokens backed one-for-one by an underlying share held in regulated custody. The product page characterizes MUc as “an onchain token that gives eligible users direct economic exposure to a listed stock.” You can view the current symbol list and product description on Coinbase Tokenize.

It does not promise that the buy button is enabled for every customer, that the token is offered in every country, or that every deposit, withdrawal, and wallet path is supported. Coinbase’s page uses the word eligible deliberately: access depends on jurisdiction, account status, and the route you are attempting to use.

MUc is therefore not simply the same instrument as buying a conventional Micron share through a securities brokerage. The token lives on Base and is handled through digital-asset infrastructure. Coinbase’s conventional stock service is a separate brokerage offering through Coinbase Capital Markets.
The most common reason: your location is restricted
Coinbase says its tokenized stocks are offered under Regulation S and are not available in the United States or other restricted jurisdictions. Its Tokenized Stocks FAQ states: “Coinbase Tokenized Stocks are offered under Regulation S and are not available in every market. They are not available to persons in the US and other restricted jurisdictions.” That geographic restriction can prevent a purchase even when MUc appears in a public product list.
Do not infer tokenized-stock eligibility from the availability of Coinbase’s ordinary stock-trading service. Coinbase’s conventional brokerage documentation says customers must reside in the US or UK, open a Coinbase Capital Markets brokerage account, and have USD, USDC, or transferred equities available. Those are requirements for the brokerage product, not an exception to the Regulation S restriction on MUc. A US customer may be able to trade ordinary stocks through the brokerage service while being unable to buy MUc.

Why primary minting does not make MUc freely available
Coinbase also limits the creation and redemption of tokenized stocks. Its FAQ says: “Primary minting and redemption are limited to KYC-onboarded institutional partners and Authorized Participants, using the same create-and-redeem model as traditional ETFs and ADRs.”
This means ordinary users do not mint MUc directly by sending cash to a smart contract and requesting a newly created token. Retail access, where available, is through the distribution and trading mechanisms Coinbase enables for eligible users. A user who cannot access that market cannot solve the problem by trying to mint MUc independently.
The one-for-one backing description is also a product claim that must be read with the token’s legal terms. It does not turn MUc into a conventional brokerage position, give every holder the same rights as a registered shareholder, or make the token transferable through every securities system.
Transfers fail when the route does not match the asset
MUc is an onchain Base token
Coinbase describes MUc as an onchain token on Base. The tokenized-stocks page says eligible users can hold these assets in self-custodial wallets and use them in the Base decentralized-finance ecosystem. A transfer involving MUc therefore needs a supported Base wallet path, the correct token contract and network, and an account that is permitted to use the feature.

The public product page does not document every possible retail sending and receiving route. It also does not establish that a specific Coinbase account can withdraw MUc, receive it from an external wallet, or transfer it between every type of Coinbase wallet. The action shown in your account and the network details in the transaction screen control what is currently available to you.
ACATS is for conventional securities, not crypto
Coinbase’s ACATS-in guide covers moving eligible stocks and ETFs from another brokerage into a Coinbase Capital Markets account. The guide expressly excludes crypto. ACATS is an in-kind securities transfer process, not a blockchain-token transfer.
Consequently, sending MUc through ACATS will not work: MUc is described by Coinbase as a Base token, while ACATS accepts eligible traditional securities. Conversely, an ordinary Micron share held at another brokerage may be eligible for ACATS if it meets Coinbase’s asset, account-registration, and whole-share requirements. Do not place a token and a conventional share on the same transfer form just because both reference Micron.

ACATS also moves whole shares. Coinbase says fractional positions may be liquidated into cash depending on the transfer. Unsupported account types, registrations, and assets can cause a rejection before the transfer begins.

Identify which Micron exposure you actually hold
Before retrying, check the asset name, symbol, network, and custody location. Use this sequence:
- Open the asset details. Confirm that the symbol is MUc and that the network is Base. A token with a similar name may be issued by someone else and may not be supported by Coinbase.
- Check the custody type. MUc in a digital-asset wallet is different from an ordinary Micron share in a brokerage account. A brokerage statement, CUSIP, or share quantity normally indicates a conventional security; a token balance and blockchain address indicate an onchain asset.
- Record the exact action. Buying, withdrawing to a self-custody wallet, depositing from a wallet, and transferring shares through ACATS are separate workflows with different rules.
- Save the error text. Take note of the full message, the time, the country shown in your profile, and the network selected. Do not retry repeatedly if the message warns about an unsupported network or restricted asset.
Use this troubleshooting sequence
1. Check country and account eligibility
Review the country and identity information in your Coinbase profile. If you are in the US or another restricted jurisdiction, Coinbase’s published rule explains why MUc cannot be purchased or transferred through the tokenized-stock service. A conventional stock account in the same Coinbase login does not override that rule.
2. Match the product to the correct Coinbase service
For ordinary shares, review the requirements on Coinbase’s stock and funds help page. It describes the separate Capital Markets brokerage, eligible US and UK residence, and the USD, USDC, or transferred-equity funding options. For MUc, use the tokenized-stock and Base-wallet flow shown in your account rather than the brokerage order ticket.

3. Check network and wallet compatibility
If the operation is onchain, confirm that both the sending and receiving sides support Base and the MUc token. Sending an asset on the wrong network can make it unavailable or permanently unrecoverable. Coinbase’s public page does not promise support for every external wallet, so the absence of a supported destination or withdrawal control is itself a reason to stop and contact support.

4. Review account restrictions and settlement status
For brokerage transactions, Coinbase says restrictions may result from missing or invalid customer information, insufficient settled cash, regulatory requirements, or legal reasons. The “available services” documentation is at Coinbase Help. An unsettled deposit, incomplete verification, or a securities-account hold can block a stock purchase or transfer even when the asset is otherwise supported.
5. Contact Coinbase with the facts support needs
Public documentation cannot determine the cause of an individual failure without account details. When you contact Coinbase Support, include your residence country, whether the asset is MUc or an ordinary share, the network, the exact route (buy, wallet send, wallet receive, or ACATS), the complete error message, and any transaction ID. Do not send private keys or recovery phrases. Support can determine whether the issue is geographic eligibility, an account restriction, an unsupported route, or a technical transaction problem.

“Tokenized stock” does not define identical legal rights
Investor.gov explains that tokenized securities are stocks, bonds, or fund interests formatted as or represented by a crypto asset recorded on a blockchain. Its overview distinguishes several structures: an issuer-sponsored token, a custodial token representing an indirect interest through a security entitlement, and a synthetic token that tracks an asset’s price without giving the holder rights against the issuer of the referenced security. Read the explanation at Investor.gov’s Tokenized Securities page.
Coinbase says its own tokenized stocks represent claims on real underlying shares and contrasts them with synthetic or debt-like products. That is Coinbase’s description of its product, not a universal legal definition of every token called a tokenized stock. Before assuming you have voting rights, dividends, direct ownership, transferability, or a redemption right, read the terms that apply to MUc and confirm which rights are actually provided.
Why the public page cannot diagnose your particular failure
A product listing answers “does Coinbase describe this token?” It does not answer “may this account buy it now?” The outcome can change with your country, verification status, account type, selected network, wallet destination, settlement status, and the exact transaction route. Coinbase’s public materials identify the broad restrictions but do not publish a universal error-code map for every account or interface.
If MUc appears but the buy or transfer control is missing, treat that as an eligibility or route question rather than proof that the token has been delisted. If an ordinary Micron share appears in a brokerage account, do not assume it can be withdrawn as MUc or sent through a blockchain wallet. Those are different representations with different systems.
The practical diagnosis
Most failed attempts fall into one of three categories: a restricted location, a mismatch between an onchain token and a securities-transfer process, or an account-specific hold. MUc is listed by Coinbase, but only eligible users can access the tokenized-stock service; US and other restricted-jurisdiction residents are excluded under Coinbase’s Regulation S statement. ACATS can move eligible conventional stocks and ETFs, but it excludes crypto and therefore is not a route for MUc. If your location and route are correct, the remaining answer is in your account status and error message, which Coinbase Support must review.
