If your iHome speaker won’t connect to your iPhone, the most likely fixes are to put the speaker in Bluetooth pairing mode, select it in the iPhone’s Bluetooth list, and prevent another previously paired device from reconnecting first. If those checks fail, forget the speaker on the iPhone and pair it again. Use the instructions for your exact speaker model before attempting a reset, because button sequences differ.
Why is my iHome speaker not connecting to my iPhone?
The cause usually falls into one of four checks: the speaker is not in pairing mode, another device has claimed its connection, the phone and speaker are too far apart or affected by interference, or the saved pairing needs to be removed and made again. The cited iHome support pages cover specific models and do not establish one cause for every iHome speaker or iPhone.
Check power, Bluetooth mode, and pairing
- Turn on the speaker and select Bluetooth mode. A speaker powered on in another mode may not appear as a Bluetooth device.
- Put it into pairing mode using its model-specific control. For the iPBT50L.EXV24, iHome says to hold the Bluetooth button for two seconds or until a beep or “Pairing” prompt. The iBT68 manual also instructs users to hold its Bluetooth button for two seconds. These examples apply to those models, not every iHome speaker. See iHome’s FAQ and the iBT68 manual.
- On the iPhone, open Settings > Bluetooth. Make sure Bluetooth is on, then tap the speaker’s name under the available devices. The iBT68 appears as “iHome iBT68” in its manual.
Stop another device from taking the connection
Many iHome models automatically reconnect to the last device they were paired with when it is nearby. If the speaker does not connect to the iPhone, turn Bluetooth off on that earlier device or move it out of range, then try pairing again. This automatic-link behavior is described in iHome’s support FAQ; it may vary by model.

Move the iPhone close to the speaker and away from other wireless devices while pairing. iHome’s cited guidance gives an approximate range of 30 feet for the iBT4 and 33 feet for the iPBT50L.EXV24. Those are model-specific figures, not guaranteed range for every speaker or environment. iHome also recommends moving the phone and speaker away from other wireless devices if interference may be involved. Forget the speaker on the iPhone and pair again
If the speaker is listed on the iPhone but will not connect, remove the saved pairing and try again:
- On the iPhone, open Settings > Bluetooth.
- Tap the information button beside the iHome speaker entry, then choose Forget This Device and confirm.
- Put the speaker back into pairing mode using its manual, then select it again in the Bluetooth list.
iHome documents deleting a saved Bluetooth entry for the iBT16, and its Apple-device troubleshooting for that model also recommends forgetting it and pairing again. See iBT16 support. The exact control sequence for entering pairing mode still depends on the speaker model.

Reset only with the correct model instructions
A reset is not a universal iHome procedure. For example, iHome says an iBT24 can reset Bluetooth settings by holding its pairing button for eight seconds; the iBT32 instructions say to hold its Bluetooth button for ten seconds when it is not in pairing mode. These steps are different and should not be substituted for one another. Find the model number on the speaker’s label and follow that model’s instructions in iHome support before resetting.

Use what you see in the Bluetooth list to narrow it down
- The speaker name does not appear: verify power, Bluetooth mode, and pairing mode; then move the devices closer and check for interference.
- The speaker appears but will not connect: check whether another previously paired device is nearby, then forget and re-pair the speaker.
- It still fails after re-pairing: confirm the exact model and follow its manual’s reset steps. The available iHome guidance does not establish that a reset will resolve every failure.
