The report offered two positive signals for investors: results that AP described as better than analysts expected, and a higher forecast for earnings over the full year. The company raised its 2026 adjusted net earnings outlook to at least $20.50 per share. That is a forward-looking company forecast, not earnings already realized in the quarter.

The guidance increase is clearer when set against the prior quarter’s outlook. In its Q2 release, UnitedHealth had projected full-year adjusted earnings of $19.50 to $20.00 per share. Q3’s “at least $20.50” outlook is higher than that range. UnitedHealth Group’s Q2 2026 results and Q3 2026 results.

The quarter-to-quarter figures show why the earnings story is more nuanced than the share move alone: revenue increased from Q2, while earnings from operations and adjusted EPS were lower. The higher annual outlook was a separate positive signal. These figures are reported by UnitedHealth for Q2 and Q3.

What the 2.6% stock move does—and does not—say
AP reported that UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH) shares climbed 2.6% after the results, citing the earnings and revenue beat and the raised forecast. That percentage describes the morning market coverage on October 13, 2026; it should not be read as the stock’s final change for the day. A single post-earnings gain also does not establish how the shares will perform later or determine whether they suit an individual investor.
