Samsung The Frame is popular because it is designed to look like framed artwork when it is not being used as a television. Its Art Mode, matte screen, optional interchangeable bezels and slim wall-mount approach make it a more room-conscious choice than a conventional TV. That design appeal is real, but it does not establish how many units The Frame sells—and it comes with a tradeoff: a similarly priced conventional television may deliver better picture quality.

Why is Samsung The Frame TV popular?

The Frame addresses a familiar living-room problem: a large black screen can dominate a room even when nobody is watching. In Art Mode, it displays artwork or personal photos; its frame-like styling and optional bezels are intended to help it blend with the surrounding decor. The matte finish is designed to reduce reflections, while the Slim Fit Wall Mount helps the set sit close to the wall.

Samsung presents these as defining product features, and RTINGS independently confirms the dedicated art mode, replaceable bezels and matte anti-reflective finish. For buyers who want a television that also serves as a display when idle, that combination is the core attraction—not a promise that it will outperform a conventional TV at the same price.

Popularity is visible, but not quantified for The Frame

Samsung describes The Frame lineup as helping change how shoppers think about televisions. That is a company statement, not independent consumer research. No Frame-specific sales, market-share, ownership or search-volume figure is established by the available sources, so its popularity cannot responsibly be expressed as a sales ranking or number.

Samsung reported approximately 28% global TV market share at the end of 2024 and said it was the global TV sales leader for a 19th consecutive year. Those figures concern Samsung’s television business as a whole, not The Frame, and should not be used to infer demand for this particular model.

Is The Frame worth it?

It can be worth the premium if having a television double as a wall-mounted art display is a priority, and if the design fits the room and budget. RTINGS’ review of the US 2026 model says its matte coating does an excellent job reducing daytime glare, but describes the TV as okay overall and notes that similarly priced conventional televisions can offer significantly better picture quality.

That tradeoff matters if most of your use is movies, sports, gaming or regular TV rather than displaying art. CHOICE explains that matte screens on art TVs can involve picture-quality costs for those uses. Reduced reflections are useful, but they do not automatically make a screen better for watching television.

  • The Frame is a stronger fit if room integration, an art display and glare reduction matter enough to justify paying for those features.
  • A conventional television may be a better fit if your priority is picture performance for the money rather than a framed-art appearance.
  • Compare the exact models if brightness is important: RTINGS says the 2026 Frame Pro is considerably brighter than the standard 2026 Frame.

Standard Frame and Frame Pro are different televisions

Do not assume that the standard Frame includes the Frame Pro’s display or connection setup. Samsung’s April 2026 US announcement describes the Frame Pro as a Neo QLED 4K model with a Wireless One Connect box. The standard Frame uses built-in connections. The Pro’s separate box is intended to keep connected devices away from the screen, with Samsung specifying a wireless connection distance of up to 30 feet.

Samsung says both 2026 models include Glare Free technology and Motion Xcelerator 144Hz. It also advertises DLG 240Hz when connected to a compatible PC. These are manufacturer specifications for the US lineup; local model availability and specifications may differ. RTINGS found the 2026 Hisense CanvasTV a little better overall and brighter than the standard Frame in its comparison. That is a reviewer judgment about those models, not a universal result for every room or viewer.

What artwork and customization do you get?

Art access depends on which source and offering you are considering. RTINGS’ review of the 2026 Frame reports 30 curated works rotating monthly, subscription access to additional art, and the ability to upload photos by USB. Samsung’s April 2026 US announcement describes an Art Store catalog of more than 5,000 works from over 800 artists. The catalog figure is Samsung’s description, not an independently audited count. Check the current catalog and subscription terms before buying; the two descriptions do not establish that all works are included without a subscription.

Bezels can further customize the set, but verify compatibility with the precise model year and screen size before ordering. Samsung’s 2025 US launch announcement names Deco TV as an additional source of bezel offerings; that does not establish fit for every Frame. The standard 2026 Frame announcement says a Slim Fit Wall Mount is included, so a separate mount is only relevant if your installation or replacement needs call for one.

What do the US launch prices tell you?

Samsung’s 2025 US launch announcement listed these original prices. They are historical launch prices, not current retail prices, and do not establish 2026 pricing or present stock.

2025 model US launch price
Frame, 43-inch $899
Frame, 50-inch $1,099
Frame, 55-inch $1,299
Frame, 65-inch $1,799
Frame Pro, 65-inch $2,199
Frame Pro, 75-inch $3,199
Frame Pro, 85-inch $4,299

Use those figures only as a historical reference. For a purchase decision, compare current local prices for the exact size and model with conventional TVs that meet your viewing needs, and account for any art subscription you would actually use.

How to decide whether it suits your room

  1. Start with viewing priorities. Decide whether art display and room appearance are central benefits or occasional extras. If picture quality per dollar is the priority, compare conventional televisions at the same current price.
  2. Choose between standard and Pro deliberately. Check display type, brightness needs and connection placement rather than assuming the Pro is simply a larger or cosmetic version of the standard Frame.
  3. Check art costs and access. Confirm the current Art Store catalog and subscription conditions, and decide whether USB photo uploads are sufficient for your use.
  4. Confirm installation details. Verify the included mount for the exact model, cable-routing plan, and bezel compatibility for the model year and size.
  5. Check regional specifications and pricing. Samsung’s cited 2026 product details are for the US; local lineups, features, retail prices and stock may vary.

Bottom line on The Frame’s popularity

The Frame stands out because it treats the television as part of the room’s decor and offers an art-display mode, customizable framing and reflection-reducing screen treatment. Those are meaningful differentiators, but available evidence does not quantify Frame-specific popularity, and its design-led value proposition does not erase the picture-quality tradeoff. It is most compelling for buyers who will regularly value the art-display experience; viewers focused primarily on image performance should compare conventional TVs at the same price.
