Quordle problems usually fall into three different categories: the page is blank or stuck, the board has loaded but ignores your typing, or the game responds that the word is invalid. Identify which of those you are seeing and which Quordle site or mode you opened before changing settings. Start with a reload, click inside the board, reset zoom, and test a private window or another browser. Delay deleting cookies or site data if a streak or unfinished game matters, because quordle.uk says its progress and statistics are stored in that browser.
First identify the Quordle version and the exact failure
“Quordle” does not guarantee one identical game implementation. The site at quordle.uk documents its own keyboard behavior, storage, accepted-word rules, and support process. The Quordle page at dev.quordle.com is a separate official Quordle destination; the page identifies October 8, 2026. A fix or word-list rule documented for quordle.uk should not automatically be treated as a rule for the official version.
Write down the address in your browser’s address bar, whether you are on a computer or phone, and what happens when you press Enter. Use the symptom that matches your screen:

An invalid-word message is not the same as a failed page load. The quordle.uk troubleshooting guide puts the distinction plainly: “That is not a loading problem.”

Fix a blank, spinning, or stuck Quordle page
Work from the least disruptive check to the most consequential one. After each change, reload the same game URL and note whether the result changed.
- Reload once. Use your browser’s reload button or the normal reload command. Allow a short time for a slow connection to finish. Repeatedly refreshing while a game is loading can make it harder to tell whether the original request completed.
- Check the connection with another website. If several unrelated sites fail, investigate the device’s Wi-Fi, mobile data, or local network before changing Quordle settings. If other sites work normally, continue with browser and game-specific tests.
- Open the same address in a private window. A private window gives you a comparison against ordinary-session cookies, cached files, and many extensions. Do not use it as your permanent game session if the site stores progress locally; closing the window may not preserve that session.
- Try another browser. Use a browser already installed on the device rather than installing a new utility. If the game loads elsewhere, the original browser’s extensions, privacy settings, cache, or script handling becomes the main area to investigate.
- Temporarily pause script-blocking or privacy extensions for the game site. Reload after changing one extension or permission at a time. If the page begins working, restore extensions individually so you can identify the conflict instead of leaving every protection disabled.
- Confirm JavaScript is enabled. The quordle.uk guide lists blocked JavaScript as a possible cause of a blank or stuck page. Browser support pages from Mozilla and Google Chrome provide browser-specific diagnostics for pages and games that render incorrectly or do not play.
- Restart the browser. Close all of its windows, reopen it, and visit the game again. This clears a temporary hung tab or renderer without deleting saved site data.
- Restart the device only if browser checks do not help. A restart can clear a transient browser or network state, but it will not correct an invalid-word rule or a site-wide problem.
A slow connection, stale cache, blocked JavaScript, or a script-blocking extension are possible causes, not proof of the cause in your particular case. The comparison tests above are what separate them.
When the keyboard does nothing
If the board is visible but no letter appears, the page has loaded far enough to display the game. The first question is whether the game has focus.

- Click or tap inside the game area. Do not click the browser address bar, an advertisement, or a surrounding page element. Then type one letter and watch for a tile.
- On a phone or tablet, use the on-screen keyboard. Tap a row or the board first, then use the device keyboard. A physical keyboard may be connected to the device but not directed to the game’s focused element.
- Reload and focus the board again. A tab restored from sleep or a partially completed page load can display the board without retaining input focus.
- Compare another browser or a private window. If typing works there, inspect extensions, privacy controls, and keyboard-related browser settings in the original session.
Do not begin by deleting cookies when the only symptom is unresponsive typing. That step changes saved site data while doing nothing to establish whether focus or an extension is the problem.

When Quordle says your guess is invalid
An explicit rejection means the game received the submission. Check the word itself and the rules of the exact game before treating it as a technical failure.
Check spelling and length
- Confirm every letter and its order.
- Confirm that the guess has the number of letters required by the board. A five-letter board will reject a shorter or longer entry even when the sequence is a real word.
- Look for an accidental extra space, punctuation mark, or character inserted by an autofill or mobile keyboard.
Use the word list for the same site and mode
The quordle.uk main-game guidance says accepted guesses must be five letters and appear in its current list. It also notes that some modes use different word pools. Read the quordle.uk valid-words guidance when that is the address you are playing. This does not establish the exact accepted-word list for the official Quordle version at dev.quordle.com, nor does it prove that every mode on either site uses one universal list.
Common words can still be rejected when a mode has a narrower list, when a proper noun or inflected form is excluded, or when the game’s list has changed. A rejection after the board accepts your letters is therefore a rules question, not evidence that the page failed to load.
Fix a cut-off board or missing keyboard row
Layout problems can make a working game look broken. The quordle.uk troubleshooting guidance recommends resetting browser zoom for a board that is clipped or a keyboard row that is missing.

- Open the browser’s menu and return zoom to its default value, normally shown as 100% on a computer.
- Reload the game after the zoom change.
- On a phone, rotate the device once and return to the orientation in which you normally play. If the browser offers a desktop-site toggle, compare both views rather than assuming one is supported by that game.
- Close extra tabs or windows that are consuming the device’s available memory, then reopen the game.
If the board is still clipped in multiple browsers and on different devices, record the screen size, orientation, and exact URL for support. A layout symptom alone does not show that the site is down.
Protect a streak or unfinished game while troubleshooting
Changing browsers, devices, or browsing modes can make a saved game appear to vanish even when you have not intentionally reset it. First return to the browser and device where you started the game. Check that you did not switch to a private window and that the address is the same Quordle version.
For quordle.uk specifically, the troubleshooting guide says statistics and progress are stored in the browser and warns that clearing cookies or site data may remove them. That storage statement is site-specific; do not assume that every Quordle implementation stores progress in the same way.

- Do not promise that a deleted streak or unfinished game can be recovered.
- If you must clear site data for a browser diagnostic, understand that it can erase locally saved progress for quordle.uk.
- Keep the original tab open until you have recorded the URL and symptom, when practical.
Use browser diagnostics to isolate the cause
Once the low-risk checks are complete, compare one variable at a time. The goal is not to disable security features permanently; it is to find which layer changes the behavior.

Private window works, normal window fails
Focus on ordinary-session data and extensions. An extension that blocks scripts, modifies page content, or applies strict privacy rules can prevent the game from rendering. Re-enable protections one by one after the test. A private window can also use a separate storage area, so a working private session does not prove that your normal session’s saved game will be available there.
Another browser works, the original does not
Compare the original browser’s extensions, JavaScript permissions, cached files, and site-specific privacy settings with the working browser. Mozilla’s guide to pages that look wrong and Chrome’s guide to games that do not play outline browser-level checks: Mozilla Support and Chrome Help. Apply only the steps relevant to your browser and symptom.
The game fails in every browser on one device
Check the device’s connection, system date and time, available memory, and network filtering. A managed school, workplace, or family network can block scripts or game resources. Test a different network if that is safe and available; do not install a cleaner, VPN, or other product merely because a page is not loading.

This pattern points attention toward the site or a widespread service issue, but it is not a confirmed outage report. The available troubleshooting information does not establish a live outage status. Capture the exact address, visible error or blank state, device and browser versions, whether another browser or device worked, and the approximate start time before contacting support.

Interpret your comparison tests

Use the result as a direction, not a diagnosis. For example, success in another browser makes the first browser the useful place to investigate; it does not prove that Quordle is permanently incompatible with that browser.
When to contact the game’s support team

- the exact game URL or site name;
- your device type and browser;

- an optional screenshot that shows the problem without exposing private information;
- approximately when the issue began.
Do not send passwords, payment details, or unrelated personal information. If the problem occurs only in a particular mode, include that mode and the word you entered, provided doing so does not disclose anything sensitive.
