PS5 Game Help cards appear only for supported games and objectives that are specifically marked for Game Help. While playing, press the PS button to open the Control Center, select the Game Help card if it is available, and choose a marked objective. If the card or objective is absent, that does not by itself mean your console is broken: PlayStation Support says the feature is selective and does not provide a way to force help content for an unsupported game or objective.
Why a PS5 Game Help card may be missing
Game Help can provide hints, tips, or walkthrough videos, but it is not a universal guide for every PS5 game. Availability depends on the game and what you are doing in it. Even in a supported game, help is limited to objectives marked with Game Help. PlayStation Support does not publish a percentage of games or objectives covered, so there is no reliable way to infer support from how often cards appear in other games.
This means there are two different situations to check: the game or objective may simply lack Game Help content, or a separate problem may be preventing the game itself from working properly. The first is a content-availability limitation; the second may call for account, license, or launch troubleshooting. Sony’s Game Help guidance describes the feature and its limits. Its separate license instructions and game launch troubleshooting address different symptoms, not missing Game Help cards.

A useful first question is whether the game is playable. If it launches and runs, but the Control Center has no Game Help card or the card has no entry for the task, start by checking content availability. If the game is locked, missing from the library, crashing, or unable to start, investigate that separate access or launch symptom. A game problem and an absent guide can happen at the same time, but one does not establish the cause of the other.

There is no documented universal switch, download, or repair step that forces Game Help to appear. The relevant support instructions describe how to open help when it is available, and specify that it depends on supported games and marked objectives. In other words, repeated restarts or changing unrelated settings cannot turn an unmarked objective into a supported one according to PlayStation’s published guidance.
Check the card and the objective in the Control Center
- Open the game. Start the game in which you expected to see help. The feature is accessed from the console interface while playing.
- Open the Control Center. Press the PS button on your controller while the game is running.
- Look for the Game Help card. If it appears, select it. Game Help content is available only for objectives marked with Game Help.
- Choose the relevant objective. The selected hint or walkthrough appears on the card. If the help includes a video, select Play to watch it.
- Follow the screen’s prompts for restricted details. Some spoiler-related content may be hidden behind hidden activities; use the on-screen instructions if you want to reveal it.
Check the card and the specific objective separately. A card being present does not mean every mission, collectible, puzzle, or other task in that game has a guide. The indicator matters: PlayStation’s instructions identify marked objectives as the ones with help available. If the task you want is not marked, the feature is not showing help for that task.
If you do not see a Game Help card, or the specific objective is not marked, the official guidance does not offer another setting or button that makes unsupported content appear. Confirm that you are checking the objective where you need assistance rather than assuming every task in a supported game has a guide.

If you expected a video, first select the available objective and check whether its help includes a video; a video is not promised for every entry. When one is available, select Play. Do not treat the lack of a video as evidence of a playback fault if the objective does not offer video content in the first place.
Some details may be concealed because they could reveal spoilers. If a relevant activity is hidden, follow the instructions shown on screen to reveal its details. The hidden state is distinct from whether a game or objective supports Game Help; use the console’s prompt rather than assuming a card is broken.
Separate missing help content from a game problem
Before changing system settings, identify what is actually failing. The right troubleshooting path depends on whether the game runs normally and only the guide is absent, or whether the game itself is inaccessible or unstable.

This distinction keeps troubleshooting proportionate. A missing card for a game that plays normally calls for checking the game and objective’s availability. A locked title or failed launch has its own symptoms and support path. Restoring a license may be relevant to a locked or missing game, but Sony does not list it as a way to obtain absent Game Help content.
Likewise, system software, console restarts, service status checks, and Safe Mode options belong to PlayStation’s launch troubleshooting for a game that will not start. They may be steps to consider for that launch issue, following Sony’s instructions, but they are not verified remedies for an absent guide card. Avoid applying a more disruptive troubleshooting path to a card that is simply not offered for an objective.
Restore licenses only for relevant access symptoms
PlayStation Support recommends restoring licenses for issues such as a locked game, a game or add-on that cannot be located, or a game that crashes. Restoring a license is not documented as a way to add Game Help content, so it is not a useful first response when the game works and only the card is missing.
If one of those access symptoms does apply, the PS5 path is:
- On the PS5, open Settings.
- Select Users and Accounts.
- Choose Other.
- Select Restore Licenses and follow the console’s prompts.
Use this route because of the game or add-on access problem, not simply because a help card is absent. If the game is available and runs normally, license restoration does not address the documented limitation that help is available only for supported games and marked objectives.
For a game that will not start, Sony’s launch guidance also points to account and license checks, service status, system software, restarting the console, and Safe Mode options. Choose steps based on the launch symptom and the official guidance; these measures are not verified fixes for absent Game Help content. Do not jump straight to Safe Mode or database-related actions just to make a card appear. The support pages cited here do not say those steps create help content. If the title itself is failing, use the launch troubleshooting page to decide which actions match that failure. If only the guide is missing, return to the supported-game and marked-objective check.
Community Game Help settings: what they do and do not control
Community Game Help is a separate feature for eligible players to participate in capturing and sharing gameplay help videos. Its setting is not a switch that guarantees a Game Help card in every game. PlayStation says participation is available only to adult accounts, is subject to a monthly capture limit, and includes a view of published videos.
If you want to check or change your participation, the setting is here:
- Open Settings.
- Go to Captures & Broadcasts.
- Select Auto Captures.
- Open Community Game Help.
- Choose Participate if you meet the account eligibility requirements and want to take part.
The adult-account restriction matters: if an account is not eligible, the participation option is not a workaround for missing help in a game. The monthly capture limit also means participation is not unlimited. The setting concerns your contribution to community videos, while the Game Help card’s availability still depends on the supported title and objective.
You can opt out through the same setting. Sony says opting out stops future capture and upload and removes your published videos. This affects your participation and videos; opting in does not promise a card for a particular title or objective. For feature details, consult PlayStation Support’s Game Help instructions.
That distinction is especially useful if the question is about a video you contributed or whether your own gameplay is being shared. Review the Community Game Help setting for that purpose. If the question is why a particular game has no guide, enabling participation does not establish that the game or activity has supported content.

Viewing options when help is available
Some help types offer additional controls through the options button. Depending on the content, you may be able to adjust closed captions or audio, or use multitasking options. Availability varies by help type, so a control that appears for one video or card may not be present for another.

These controls change how available help is displayed; they do not add objectives or videos that the game does not provide.
These viewing controls are worth checking only after you have opened available help. Captions, audio, and multitasking are options for certain help types, not settings for selecting which games receive guides. If an option is absent from the options button, PlayStation’s guidance does not promise it for every card.
What not to do when a card is absent
- Do not assume every PS5 game or every objective includes a guide.
- Do not treat the absence of one card as proof that the console is faulty.
- Do not expect restoring licenses, updating system software, restarting, or using Safe Mode to generate Game Help content. Sony’s cited guidance does not establish those actions as fixes for missing cards.
- Do not enable Community Game Help expecting it to unlock a specific guide. Participation concerns community captures and videos, not guaranteed coverage of every game or task.
- Do not buy a controller, media remote, printed guide, or repair tools to restore a card. The documented checks are within the console interface and depend first on content availability.
There is no product purchase in PlayStation’s documented troubleshooting path for this issue. The card is accessed through the console interface, and the first check is whether the content exists for the title and objective. A new accessory or repair tool cannot be presented as a supported way to create a missing guide.

- If the game runs normally: open the Control Center with the PS button and check for the Game Help card and marked objectives.
- If only one objective lacks help: treat it as an availability limit unless that objective is marked Game Help.
- If the game is locked, missing, crashing, or will not launch: address that separate access or launch issue using the appropriate PlayStation Support instructions.
- If your concern is your own community videos: review the Community Game Help setting and adult-account eligibility before opting in or out.
In practical terms, the most efficient sequence is to check the in-game Control Center, inspect the marked objectives, then classify any remaining symptom. If the game works, there may simply be no help for that title or task. If the game itself cannot be accessed or started, follow the separate license or launch guidance that matches what is happening. Keep community-video settings and viewing options in their proper roles: they manage participation or presentation, not whether every objective receives a guide.

Do all PS5 games have Game Help cards?
No. PlayStation says Game Help is available for supported games and only for objectives marked with Game Help. A title or activity without marked help may have no card or no entry for the task you want.
How do I open Game Help on PS5?

PlayStation documents restoring licenses for access symptoms such as a locked game, a missing game or add-on, or a game that crashes. It does not identify license restoration as a fix for absent Game Help content. Use it for the relevant access problem, not just because a card is missing.
Does Community Game Help need to be enabled to see a Game Help card?
