Read the status before changing the offer

3. If the player is not ready, stop treating it as a wage problem
When the status indicates that talks are not open, do not assume another offer will solve it. Monitor the player’s communications and contract status instead. The documented behavior is about availability for talks, so your immediate task is timing and squad planning.
