Micron shares rose about 4% on October 7, 2026, after Bloomberg’s Closing Bell reported that DA Davidson raised its price target to $3,000 from about $2,100. The segment attributed the higher target to the firm’s view that AI systems will need more memory. That is an analyst thesis—not a guaranteed outcome or a current price forecast.

What happened to Micron stock on October 7, 2026?

Bloomberg’s Closing Bell reported that Micron Technology (Nasdaq: MU) gained about 4% in that session. The segment cited a prior close of $1,088 and said DA Davidson had lifted its target to $3,000 from about $2,100. These are figures reported in the broadcast for October 7, 2026, not current market data. Yahoo Finance’s Bloomberg video and transcript carries the segment; a MarketScreener listing from MT Newswires also identifies the segment and date.

Why did the segment connect the target increase to AI?

The broadcast summarized the thesis this way: AI models can produce better results and run faster when they have more memory. On that view, sustained growth in AI could support demand for memory and benefit Micron. The segment also said the analyst had met with Micron’s management team.

This is the analyst’s reported investment rationale, not proof that demand, earnings, or Micron’s share price will meet expectations. The transcript does not name the analyst or reproduce DA Davidson’s research note, so it does not establish the assumptions behind the thesis.

What did the $3,000 target imply?

Using the broadcast’s stated $1,088 prior close, the segment described the $3,000 target as implying about 187% upside. Host Carol Massar put it this way: “The new target implying about 187% increase from Micron’s last close.” That percentage compares the target with the prior close cited on October 7; it is not a promised return or a prediction that the stock will reach that level.

The same broadcast said Micron was up almost 300% year to date as of October 7, 2026. That was a historical figure reported on air, not a current return.

What the report does—and does not—establish

  • Established: Bloomberg reported the roughly 4% session gain and DA Davidson’s target increase from about $2,100 to $3,000 on October 7, 2026.
  • Not established: The analyst’s identity, the target’s time horizon, the valuation method, or the detailed assumptions supporting it. The broadcast transcript does not provide these details.
  • Not established: Whether other analysts shared the view or what a broader consensus target was. The segment provides one reported target change, not a comparison of forecasts.

Because the underlying note and its assumptions are unavailable in the cited coverage, the $3,000 figure should be read as one firm’s reported target at that time—not as an independent valuation conclusion or personalized investment advice.
