If CxUIUSvc is consuming CPU or memory on your Windows 11 PC, first confirm which process is responsible, then check the audio driver installed for your exact computer model. CxUIUSvc is associated in secondary troubleshooting coverage with Conexant SmartAudio II and Synaptics HD audio-driver software; it is not identified as a built-in Windows per-user service in Microsoft’s service reference. That does not mean every third-party service appears in Microsoft’s list, nor does it prove that the audio driver is the cause of every resource spike.
What is the CxUIUSvc service?
WindowsReport describes CxUIUSvc as a component associated with Conexant SmartAudio II and Synaptics HD audio-driver software. Microsoft’s per-user services reference documents Windows services that can be created for individual users, but it does not name CxUIUSvc. The omission is not proof that CxUIUSvc is malicious or that Microsoft’s page lists every service installed by other software.
Microsoft explains that Windows can create user-specific service instances at sign-in from service templates. Instance names may include a locally unique identifier. These general details do not establish that a particular CxUIUSvc entry is a Windows per-user service or document what depends on it.
How can you tell what is actually using CPU or memory?
Start in Task Manager rather than changing or stopping a service based on its name alone. Microsoft’s high-CPU guidance is written for Windows Server, but its process-inspection methods can help identify a high-use process; it is not a Windows 11-specific CxUIUSvc repair procedure.

- 1.1 GHz (boost up to 2.4GHz) Intel Celeron N5030 Quad-Core
- Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager. On the Processes page, select the CPU column to sort by CPU use. Check the Memory column separately if RAM use is the concern.
- Look at the process name associated with the usage. If the entry is a service host shared by several services, do not assume CxUIUSvc is responsible simply because it appears in a service list. Identify the service within that host before making a change.
- For more detail, use Resource Monitor to inspect CPU activity, or Process Explorer to examine processes and threads. These tools can help narrow down the responsible process; they do not by themselves show that a particular driver update will fix it.
Microsoft’s high-CPU troubleshooting guidance describes Task Manager, Resource Monitor and Process Explorer, including how to isolate services in a shared svchost process when that applies. Its workflow and thresholds should not be treated as an official Windows 11 prescription for CxUIUSvc.
What should you check in the audio driver?
Consider whether the problem began after a driver change
If high usage appeared after an audio-driver update or other software change, note when it started and what changed. A timing link can guide troubleshooting, but does not prove the update caused the issue.

Use support for your exact PC model
Find the computer maker’s support page for the exact model and select the applicable Windows version. Check whether it offers an audio driver and follow the maker’s installation instructions. A driver intended for a different PC model or Windows version may not be appropriate.
Update or reinstall only as a troubleshooting step
WindowsReport’s October 6, 2025 article suggests updating or reinstalling the audio driver. It does not report controlled testing or establish that either action fixes every case. Prefer the computer maker’s driver package over a generic driver utility, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions before removing an existing driver.

Should you disable CxUIUSvc?
Do not make permanent disabling or registry editing the first response. Microsoft warns generally that disabling services can break dependent applications, advises careful testing of service-template changes, and cautions against direct registry edits unless there is no alternative. Those cautions are not a CxUIUSvc-specific dependency list: the reviewed sources do not establish exactly what will stop working if this service is disabled on a particular PC.
If you choose to test a service-setting change, record its original state first, change only what you understand, and check whether audio features you use still work. Restore the original setting if the change causes problems. Avoid direct registry edits unless you have a specific, reliable instruction for your device and a way to reverse the change.

Does CxUIUSvc indicate a security vulnerability?
Synaptics’ advisory for CVE-2024-9157 concerns audio-driver packages that include CxUIUSvc64.exe or CxUIUSvc32.exe. Synaptics says the issue affects products that have reached end of life and are no longer supported. The advisory describes a named pipe without a restrictive security descriptor that could allow a crafted message to cause a DLL to load into an elevated process. It does not establish that every CxUIUSvc installation or every Windows 11 PC is affected.
Synaptics reports CVSS 3.1 and CVSS 4.0 scores of 7.8 (High) and 8.6 (High), respectively, for the vulnerability. These are severity scores, not performance measurements or estimates of how common the issue is. Check the audio package and its support status with the computer maker or relevant package provider before drawing a conclusion about your installation. See the Synaptics security advisory for its stated scope.
