Big Walk, the cooperative adventure from Australian developer House House, is not coming to Xbox because the studio says it is following the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement’s call to boycott Microsoft and Xbox. House House says an Xbox version would be considered only if Microsoft and/or Xbox are removed from the movement’s boycott-target list.
Why isn’t Big Walk on Xbox?
House House announced in June 2026 that Big Walk would launch for computers, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, with no Xbox version. After players asked whether the omission reflected a delay or technical problem, the studio published an explanation.
House House wrote that it had decided “not to release Big Walk on Xbox, in accordance with the Palestinian-led BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement’s call to boycott Microsoft, and their designation of Microsoft Games as a priority boycott target.” The statement was reproduced by Cover Geek and cited in contemporaneous coverage.

That makes the decision an intentional ethical and platform-policy choice, rather than a reported certification issue, porting delay or normal release-scheduling problem.

Is Big Walk coming to Xbox?
There is no announced Xbox release date. House House said it would like Xbox players to have access, but added that it would not release the game on Xbox “until Microsoft and/or Xbox have been removed as BDS boycott targets.” Unless that condition changes, an Xbox edition should not be expected.
The studio also acknowledged the immediate effect on players: “This decision means that some people will miss out on playing Big Walk with their friends, and we understand the disappointment we’re causing. We are disappointed too.” Because the game is designed around cooperation, the platform restriction can affect groups whose friends play on Xbox.

What is Big Walk?
Big Walk is a cooperative adventure game built around playing with other people. Its social design makes platform choice more consequential than it would be for a strictly single-player title: an Xbox owner cannot join friends through an Xbox release because no such version exists.

Windows Central described the game as releasing on August 4, 2026, and reported sales of more than one million copies in its first six days. That sales figure is a secondary publication report, not a sales announcement identified from House House. Contemporaneous coverage also reported a 91 Metacritic score; aggregator scores can change as more reviews are added, so the live score may differ.
What is the BDS rationale cited by House House?
The BDS advocacy document cited in coverage lists Microsoft, including Xbox and Surface, as boycottable. It gives the movement’s stated rationale as allegations that Microsoft supplies Azure cloud and artificial-intelligence services to the Israeli military.

That is the advocacy movement’s stated position, not an independently adjudicated finding established by the available reporting. House House’s statement adopts the boycott designation as the basis for its own platform decision; it does not announce a separate investigation into Microsoft’s contracts or military use of technology.

Xbox players
- There is no Xbox edition to buy or download.
- You cannot use an Xbox release to play with friends who own the game on other systems.
- House House has not provided a date for reconsideration; its stated condition is removal of Microsoft and/or Xbox from the BDS target designation.
Players choosing another platform
- Computer, PS5 and Switch 2 are the platforms identified in the announcement and coverage.
- Check which platform your friends use before buying, since cooperative play depends on access to the same supported ecosystem and any cross-platform features the developer provides.
Observers of the boycott
- The case illustrates how a developer can apply a political boycott to distribution decisions rather than to in-game content.
- The practical cost is reduced platform access for some customers, a consequence House House explicitly recognizes.
Why the decision matters beyond one port
Most missing-platform announcements leave open explanations such as development resources, certification timing or market priorities. House House’s statement removes that ambiguity: the Xbox version is being withheld because of the studio’s stated alignment with the BDS boycott. The result is a clear separation between the game’s reported critical and commercial momentum and the ethical line the developer says it will not cross.
