As of October 7, 2026, Apple says Siri AI is unavailable to EU residents on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. Other Apple Intelligence features are available in the EU on supported devices, and Siri AI can run on a qualifying Mac or Vision Pro under Apple’s account-region and English-language conditions. Apple has announced no date for EU iPhone or iPad availability.
Is Apple Intelligence unavailable in the EU?
No. The regional restriction applies to Siri AI on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS—not to Apple Intelligence as a whole. Apple says other next-generation Apple Intelligence features across apps are available in the EU on supported iPhones and iPads running iOS 27 or iPadOS 27, supported Macs with macOS 27 Golden Gate, and Vision Pro with visionOS 27. Examples include advanced photo-editing, an updated Image Playground, and intelligent browsing features. Check Apple’s Apple Intelligence availability guidance for platform and device details.
Where can EU residents use Siri AI?
Apple’s support documentation, published September 22, 2026, lists the following availability for EU residents. Its regional rules apply even when a device meets the hardware requirements.
| Device | EU availability | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone and iPad | Unavailable on iOS and iPadOS | A supported model does not override the EU platform restriction. |
| Apple Watch | Unavailable on watchOS | Watch features require a paired iPhone with Siri AI enabled. |
| Mac | Available on macOS 27 Golden Gate | Apple Account region must be set to the EU; device language and Siri language must both be English. |
| Apple Vision Pro | Available on visionOS 27 | Apple Account region must be set to the EU; device language and Siri language must both be English. |
Apple lists compatible iPhones as iPhone 15 Pro models and later, iPhone 16 models and later, and iPhone Air. Compatible iPads include iPad mini (A17 Pro) and iPads with M1 or later. For Mac, Apple lists MacBook Neo (A18 Pro) and Macs with M1 or later. Compatible watches include Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Ultra 2 or later, and SE 3, paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone that has Siri AI enabled. Apple lists any Apple Vision Pro with visionOS 27. These hardware lists do not lift the EU iPhone, iPad, or Watch restriction. See Apple’s Siri AI availability and device requirements.

Why does Apple say Siri AI is delayed in the EU?
Apple attributes the delay to its dispute with EU regulators over the Digital Markets Act (DMA). In a June 8, 2026 statement, Apple said regulators had not accepted its proposals for bringing Siri AI to the EU while supporting other virtual assistants. Apple argued that DMA interoperability requirements could require third-party assistants to access personal data and control apps, raising privacy and security concerns. It said it proposed a “Trusted System Agent” intermediary and a gradual 18-month rollout, but could not give a timetable for iOS and iPadOS availability. These are Apple’s claims and account of its proposals, not an independent finding that the DMA makes a launch impossible. Read Apple’s June statement.

The European Commission rejects the idea that the DMA prohibits a launch. Its DMA Q&A says: “Nothing in the DMA prohibits Apple from introducing new products and services in the EU.” The Commission says Apple decides whether to roll out a product, but must make the rollout compliant with the regulation. For this case, it says compliance means giving third parties access to equivalent features Apple gives its own products, subject to user consent. The Commission says discussions with Apple on a safe and compliant path are continuing.

The public positions therefore differ: Apple says regulatory demands and unresolved proposals are why it is holding back the iOS and iPadOS launch; the Commission says the law does not bar the launch and describes the obligations it believes apply. The available statements do not establish a final regulatory ruling that blocked Siri AI.

What Siri AI features are EU iPhone and iPad users missing?
Apple’s June announcement said EU iPhone and iPad users would initially miss a standalone app for revisiting conversations, expanded Visual Intelligence, integrated writing tools, a Siri mode in the Camera app, and other Siri AI features announced at WWDC26. Apple also said Siri AI-dependent watchOS features would initially be unavailable because they require a paired iPhone running Siri AI.
Apple’s current support page describes Siri AI as including broad world knowledge, personal context drawn across Messages, Mail, Calendar, Notes, and Reminders, awareness of what is on screen, and the ability to take actions across apps. It also describes a conversation-history app synced through iCloud, Write with Siri, Visual Intelligence, and expressive voices on devices with the advanced on-device model. These are descriptions of the feature set, not a guarantee that every capability works on every compatible device.

When will Siri AI come to EU iPhones?
Apple has not announced a date for EU availability on iPhone or iPad. Its June statement said it could not provide a timetable, and its September 22 support page still lists EU residents as unable to use Siri AI on iOS and iPadOS. A software-version release date by itself is not evidence that the EU restriction will end.

Will changing your iPhone region unlock Siri AI?
Apple’s documentation says Siri AI is unavailable to EU residents on iOS. It also says an already activated Siri AI continues to work when traveling to other regions, but does not say that changing an iPhone’s location, language, or Apple Account region makes Siri AI available to an EU resident’s iPhone. Treat a region change as no confirmed workaround; Apple’s listed EU access on Mac and Vision Pro has explicit account-region and language conditions, while the iPhone remains excluded.
