Blizzard says convenience choices in WoW: Forever can shape how players meet, gather, and make memories—but the official material available does not confirm that Summoning Stones are excluded or verify the quoted claim that quick teleports “shrink the world.” The supported point is broader: the developers want travel, exploration, and player encounters to remain part of the experience.
What Blizzard has said about convenience
In its official WoW: Forever announcement, Blizzard says it is “being thoughtful about convenience, because every quality-of-life choice can shape the way players meet, gather, and make memories together.” That is a direct statement of design intent: convenience is not treated as a neutral feature, because it may change how players interact.
Blizzard also says four pillars guide the experience: “approachable and familiar,” “the world as the main character,” “the journey before the destination,” and “protecting and nurturing the social experiences that make Azeroth feel alive.” The announcement says additions are assessed against the spirit of the original game.

Blizzard describes WoW: Forever as an expansion of original Azeroth, with new and reimagined regions and additional quests throughout the level 1–60 journey. The developers say leveling should remain important alongside endgame, effort should continue to matter, and rewards should come through playing, exploring, making friends, and taking on challenges. Blizzard also says the experience will have no flying mounts or level scaling, and will emphasize preparation, communication, and cooperation.

In an official deep-dive, Blizzard describes “serendipitous interactions”: chance meetings where competing for a resource or enemy can become an opportunity to stop and engage with another player. It also presents its campfire system as a reason for players to pause together and contribute useful crafted objects. That supports the idea that travel and shared time can create social opportunities, though it does not prove what effect any particular teleport feature would have.
Would Summoning Stones make it easier to reach dungeons?
In principle, a summoning mechanic can reduce the time or travel required for some group members to reach an activity. That is the convenience side of the debate. The competing concern is that easier access could mean fewer journeys through the world and fewer unplanned encounters along the way. These are plausible player priorities, not measured outcomes established by Blizzard’s material.

A Blizzard-hosted forum discussion includes players arguing both sides: some say Summoning Stones would save time without eliminating interaction, while others believe they would weaken travel and its social friction. Those are player views, not an official policy explanation.

The official pages cited here do not establish a final Summoning Stones policy or say that Blizzard rejected the feature because teleports “shrink the world” or “easily erode” the game’s pillars. Those exact phrases should not be presented as a verified Blizzard quotation on the evidence available here.

A TechRadar report published October 8, 2026 provides secondary context, quoting Blizzard’s approach as building on vanilla while staying true to the original game’s design, pacing, and tone. The report also says proposed changes are assessed against the pillars; the cited passage does not substantiate the exact Summoning Stones wording in the headline.
