Radeon shortages happen when buyers want cards faster than AMD’s manufacturing and component supply chain can deliver them. That can mean depleted store stock and, when demand is strong, prices above a manufacturer’s launch reference. Component shortages can also raise production costs. But AMD has not published a current, Radeon-specific measure showing how much any particular card’s price reflects those costs, limited stock, retailer pricing, or regional conditions.

Why Radeon GPUs can be in short supply

A graphics card depends on more than its GPU design. AMD relies on outside manufacturers and component suppliers, including TSMC for products made on advanced process nodes. Its annual filing warns that supplier capacity, production yields, lead times, late deliveries, and reliance on a limited number of suppliers can affect how much product it can make and what it costs. These disclosures describe risks across AMD’s business; they do not prove that any one issue caused a particular Radeon shortage. AMD FY2025 Form 10-K

Memory and other components matter, too

Graphics cards need memory as well as GPU chips and other parts. AMD’s FY2025 filing says industry demand for memory components outpaced supply and pushed memory prices higher. If memory or another required part is difficult to source, manufacturers may have trouble completing cards; if it costs more, production costs can rise. AMD does not quantify how much this affected any specific Radeon model.

Demand can outrun supply even while production continues

AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su said on the company’s Q2 2025 earnings call that demand for Radeon 9000-series desktop GPUs outpaced supply during that quarter. That is direct evidence of an imbalance at that time—not evidence that every Radeon model is still hard to find in October 2026. AMD Q2 2025 earnings-call transcript

How shortages can affect Radeon prices

When buyers seek cards faster than supply reaches stores, listings may sell out, wait times may grow, and sellers may charge more than the manufacturer’s suggested launch price. Higher component costs can also put pressure on production costs. Those are distinct mechanisms: scarcity can affect what buyers encounter at retail, while component costs can affect what it takes to produce a card. The available company disclosures do not establish how much each mechanism contributes to a Radeon’s current selling price.

What AMD’s sales figures do—and do not—show

AMD’s Q2 2026 filing reported Gaming-segment revenue of $779 million, down 31% year over year, primarily because of lower semi-custom revenue. For the first half of 2026, higher Radeon GPU sales partially offset lower semi-custom revenue. The Gaming segment combines Radeon GPU and semi-custom business, so those totals are not Radeon-only sales, shipments, inventory, or a measure of retail availability. AMD Q2 2026 Form 10-Q

  • AMD RDNA 3 Architecture with AI & Ray Tracing Acceleration: Powered by 32 RDNA 3 Compute Units featuring 3rd Gen Ray Tracing Accelerators and 2nd Gen AI Accelerators, delivering lifelike lighting, shadows, and superior machine learning performance for enhanced gaming and content creation.
  • Powerful 1080p & 1440p Gaming Engine: Features a max boost clock of up to 2695 MHz, a game clock of 2280 MHz, and 2048 stream processors, ensuring outstanding frame rates in the latest titles.
  • 8GB High‑Speed GDDR6 Memory: Equipped with 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128‑bit interface running at 18 Gbps, delivering up to 288 GB/s bandwidth for high‑resolution textures and demanding game workloads.

Likewise, AMD reported $3.9 billion in Gaming net revenue for 2025, up 51% from 2024, driven primarily by higher semi-custom revenue and strong Radeon gaming GPU demand. That segment result is useful context about AMD’s business, but it cannot establish the number of Radeon cards available or explain an individual card’s price.

How to judge a Radeon price when stock is uneven

  • Compare the exact model and board-partner version; different designs and product tiers are not directly equivalent.
  • Use the model’s launch suggested price as historical context, not as a current market quote.
  • Check current listings and stock in your own region. Availability and seller prices can differ by location and date.
  • Consider memory capacity and performance needs alongside price; a higher or lower price alone does not prove a shortage.

Can we tell when Radeon prices will come down?

Not from the available AMD disclosures alone. They document supply-chain risks, industry-wide memory pressure, and a Radeon 9000-series demand-and-supply imbalance in Q2 2025, but they do not provide current region-by-region stock data, a current retail price series, or a forecast for Radeon prices. A reliable assessment of today’s price requires current listings for the specific card and market.
