If a PlayStation Store game is missing from your PS5 library, the purchase usually belongs to a different account, is hidden, has not reached its release date, or needs its license refreshed. First confirm the transaction on the purchasing account, then check hidden games and sharing or subscription eligibility. If the title is visible but will not download, treat that as a download problem rather than a missing-library problem.
Identify the symptom before changing settings
These situations look similar on the PS5 but have different causes:

| A voucher, add-on or pre-order is missing | Redemption account, Store region, eligibility or the publisher’s release schedule may be involved. |
Sony’s US English troubleshooting guide covers both PS5 and PS4. Menu labels and service conditions can change, so use the current PlayStation support pages and service-status page for your region when you work through these steps.
1. Confirm the purchase on the correct PlayStation account
Digital ownership is attached to the PlayStation Network account that completed the transaction. Being signed in on the same console, using the same email address on a family member’s account, or having the same payment card does not move the entitlement between users.

Check transaction history
- On the PS5, sign in to the account that made the purchase.
- Open the account’s transaction history and locate the game, add-on or bundle.
- Confirm that the transaction succeeded, rather than showing a failed, reversed or pending payment.
- Return to Game Library and search while still signed in to that account.
If the purchase is not in that account’s history, check other PlayStation accounts that may have been used at checkout. Sony says purchased games should appear in Game Library, so a successful transaction in another account is a strong explanation for an apparently missing title.
Voucher purchases need their own check
For a code-based purchase, verify that the voucher was redeemed and identify the account that redeemed it. Sony states that voucher codes are restricted to the Store region for which they were issued. Content cannot be transferred between accounts, so redeeming a code on the wrong user does not create an entitlement on your preferred account.
2. Search the complete library, including hidden games
Open Game Library rather than relying only on the PS5 home screen. Use the library’s search and category views, then check the hidden-games view. Sony says a game hidden in the library is hidden from libraries on all consoles using that account; it has not been deleted from the purchase record.

If you recently bought a game that has not launched, or you bought downloadable content tied to a future release, the publisher’s release timing controls when it becomes usable. A pre-order can remain unavailable until its stated release date, and an add-on may require the base game or a scheduled launch window.

Age eligibility and regional availability can also affect voucher or add-on redemption. Check the product’s Store listing and the terms supplied with the purchase rather than assuming that every item becomes available immediately after payment.
3. Determine where the entitlement comes from
Another user bought the game
A different user’s purchase can be playable on your PS5 only when that purchasing user has enabled Console Sharing and Offline Play on the console. Sign in as the owner and check the setting under the PS5 account and sharing controls. If it is enabled on another PS5, the owner may need to deactivate that console before enabling this one, subject to Sony’s account-management limits.
Shared access is not a purchase by your own account. If the owner disables Console Sharing and Offline Play, changes accounts, or the console cannot contact PlayStation services to verify access, the game can disappear or show a padlock for other users.

The game came from PlayStation Plus
For a catalog or monthly game obtained through PlayStation Plus, verify that the relevant subscription is active and that the game is still included in the particular PlayStation Plus offering. Catalog lineups change, and a title leaving the service is different from a purchased game being removed from your account. A subscription entitlement also follows the account and eligibility rules of the service; it is not equivalent to buying a permanent license.

4. Restore the PS5 license
Restoring licenses makes the console recheck digital entitlements associated with the signed-in account. Sony specifically lists an unlocatable game or add-on as a reason to use this feature and says, "Please note, restoring licenses won’t affect your data."
- Sign in to the account that owns the game.
- From the PS5 home screen, open Settings.
- Select Users and Accounts.
- Choose Other.
- Select Restore Licenses, then choose the license to restore if the console presents a selection.
- After the process finishes, open Game Library and search again.
Sony also provides a restore-license command from a game’s options menu on the home screen or in the library. Use that shortcut when the title is visible but locked, or use the Settings path when the item is not visible.
5. When the game is listed but the download will not start
A visible game with a stalled or absent download is a queue problem, not proof that the purchase is missing. Work through the queue in this order:
Retry the queue item
- Open the PS5 Control Center and select Downloads/Uploads.
- Pause the game, wait briefly, and select Resume.
- If it still does not begin, cancel and delete the queue item.
- Return to Game Library, select the title and start the download again.
Deleting a failed queue item does not cancel a completed purchase; it removes the pending transfer so the console can create a fresh download task.

Check PlayStation service status
An outage affecting account management, the Store or downloads can prevent a valid purchase from starting. Check Sony’s live service-status page before repeatedly changing account or network settings. If a service incident is reported, retry after the affected service returns.
Install system software updates
Open Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings and install any available update. A current PS5 system reduces compatibility and Store-client problems, but an update cannot correct ownership on the wrong account.
Check available console storage
In Settings > Storage, verify that free space is sufficient for the game and its installation data. Remove or move unneeded games only when the title is already visible and the download reports a capacity problem. Buying storage is not a remedy for a game that is absent from Game Library; that symptom points to account, visibility, entitlement or license checks instead.
Test the network connection
Run the PS5 internet-connection test and retry the download on a stable connection. A download that repeatedly stops at the same point can reflect a service outage, an unstable connection or a system queue fault. Note any displayed error code before cancelling the item.

Use Safe Mode only for a persistent queue fault
If service status, updates, storage and the connection are all normal, Sony lists Safe Mode’s Clear Cache and Rebuild Database option as a troubleshooting step for stuck downloads. Follow Sony’s current Safe Mode instructions exactly; do not select an option that resets or reinstalls the console unless you have separately backed up data and understand the consequences.

A padlock means the software is present but the current user lacks a confirmed right to launch it. Check the purchasing account and transaction first, then verify whether access depends on another user’s Console Sharing and Offline Play setting or on an active PlayStation Plus entitlement. If those checks are correct, confirm that PlayStation services are operating and restore licenses from Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses.
Do not assume that reinstalling the game, freeing storage or buying a replacement disc will repair a digital entitlement. Those actions do not change which account owns the license.

7. Handle add-ons, pre-orders and regional vouchers carefully
When the base game appears but downloadable content does not, inspect the transaction history for the add-on and confirm that it was bought on the account currently in use. Some add-ons require a specific edition or base game, and pre-order bonuses can be delivered only at the publisher’s announced time.
For a voucher that does not appear, check the redemption account and the code’s Store region. A code issued for one country or regional Store cannot be assumed to work on an account registered elsewhere. If the item has age restrictions, the account may also need to meet the applicable eligibility rules.
8. Escalate with evidence PlayStation Support can use
Contact PlayStation Support when the transaction is successful, the correct account and entitlement source are confirmed, hidden games and licenses have been checked, and the download still cannot be found or completed. Include:
- the exact error code, if one appears;
- what you selected and what happened;
- clear steps that reproduce the problem;
- the date and time of the access or download attempt;
- the account and Store region involved, without sending your password; and
- a screenshot or short video when possible.
These details help support distinguish an account-ownership issue from a service, queue or console fault. Keep the transaction confirmation available, especially for voucher, pre-order and add-on cases.

Practical decision path
- Absent from Game Library: verify the purchasing account and transaction, then inspect hidden games.
- Owned by another user or supplied by PlayStation Plus: check Console Sharing and Offline Play or subscription status and current catalog availability.
- Visible but locked: verify the entitlement and restore licenses.
- Visible but not downloading: pause and resume, cancel and retry, then check service status, system software, storage and network.
- Still unresolved: use Sony’s Safe Mode cache/database step for a persistent queue problem and contact Support with reproducible details.
