The suspense in “Gosh the suspense is killing me” was about one thing: which camera Linda, a forum member using the handle LRK, would buy. The line appears in a 2004 ClearPS discussion about new photography gear—not in a story about a thriller or a modern camera launch.
What was Linda deciding?
In the ClearPS thread “New Gear. Drool!!!!,” Linda was weighing camera options while thinking about her budget, what she wanted to photograph, and the benefit of handling equipment before committing. On April 17, 2004, another participant responded to her deliberation with the exact line: “Gosh the suspense is killing me.” The forum identifies the speaker by handle, not by a verified name or professional credentials. Read the original ClearPS discussion.
The phrase captures the social side of a purchase decision: other photographers were following along and waiting to hear which camera she would choose. It is not evidence of a formal review or a controlled comparison.
Which cameras were in the conversation?
The exchange mentions the Canon EOS 300D, also marketed as the Digital Rebel, and Nikon D70, alongside other possibilities. Participants discussed equipment through practical considerations rather than a standardized test. Their comments reflect opinions from a 2004 forum thread and should be understood in that historical context.

| Decision factor | What participants considered |
|---|---|
| Handling and controls | How the camera felt in use and whether its controls suited the photographer. |
| Viewfinder | The experience of composing and viewing a shot. |
| Image quality and autofocus | Perceived image results and focusing behavior, as discussed by forum members. |
| Flash and lens options | Available equipment choices that could affect how a camera fit the intended photography. |
| Intended use and budget | What Linda wanted to photograph and what she was prepared to spend. |
These are the comparison axes raised in the conversation, not independently verified findings about either camera.
How did the suspense resolve?
Later in the thread, the Canon 300D appears on Linda’s equipment list. That gives the discussion a historical outcome: the camera she ultimately had was the 300D. It does not establish exactly when or why she made the choice, nor does it show that the model would suit a buyer today.

What the old thread can—and cannot—tell you
The exchange is useful as a snapshot of how photographers discussed a significant camera purchase in 2004: they considered the feel of the equipment, features, intended use, and cost, while other members followed the decision. Its prices and technical opinions are historical and anecdotal. The thread does not establish present-day availability, condition, compatibility, warranty, or value for the EOS 300D or any other camera mentioned.
