For a useful wholesale quote, list each requested product separately, with its quantity and a SKU or other identifying detail when available. Use a message box for broader context and special instructions—not as the only place where the order is described.
What should a wholesale quote request include?
Make the request easy for both sides to read: one line per product, with the details needed to identify and price that item. A practical form can collect:
- Product name and identifier: Include the SKU, manufacturer part number, or another stable identifier if you have one. Amazon Business, for example, documents product lookup by ASIN, Amazon URL, keyword, supplier SKU, or manufacturer part number.
- Quantity: State how many units you want for each line, not just a combined total.
- Variant or configuration: Specify the size, color, model, packaging, or other option that affects the product being quoted.
- Item-specific note: Add a short note for a requirement that applies to that product alone.
- Buyer and delivery details: Provide a contact and delivery location so the seller can prepare relevant pricing and shipping information.
These are practical form-design recommendations, not a universal legal or industry-standard schema. The seller’s product range and quoting process may require additional fields.

Can I request a quote for multiple products?
Yes. A request can contain several product lines, each with its own identifier and quantity. Amazon Business and BigCommerce document multi-product quote workflows. Keeping items separate gives buyer and seller a shared view of what is being priced instead of making the seller reconstruct an order from prose.

That structure is useful after the first submission, too. Quote discussions can involve changing products or quantities, revising line prices or discounts, and adjusting shipping. Adobe Commerce documents these kinds of negotiation changes; BigCommerce also describes product lines and quote revisions.
What belongs in the message box?
Use a general message for instructions that apply to the whole request, such as the project context, a preferred delivery date, whether substitutions are acceptable, or a question for the seller. Keep requirements tied to a particular product on that item’s line where the form supports it.

BigCommerce distinguishes product-specific notes from the quote message exchange. That separation helps prevent a general comment from being mistaken for a requirement on every item—or an item note from being treated as a request-wide instruction.
How do I request bulk pricing?
- Identify the products. Add each requested product as its own line and use its SKU, manufacturer part number, or another reliable identifier where available.
- Enter quantities per product. If you need different quantities of different items, put the amount on each corresponding line.
- Specify the configuration. Include variants or custom requirements that could change which product is supplied or how it is priced.
- Add request-wide context. Use the message field for delivery timing, project details, substitution preferences, and questions that apply across the request.
- Review the quote before accepting. Check the products, quantities, pricing, discounts, shipping method, and any expiration date shown in the offer.
There is no single bulk quantity that guarantees a discount across sellers or product categories. Ask for pricing on the quantities you actually need; the seller can respond with the terms available for that request.

What happens after the seller replies?
A digital quote workflow may support changes and carry an accepted offer toward ordering. The exact steps depend on the seller’s platform, edition, configuration, and permissions.
- Amazon Business RFQ: Amazon’s documentation says a request can include multiple products and quantities. It says sellers typically respond within one to two business days and quoted prices are locked for at least seven days, subject to seller-set expiration settings. These are statements about Amazon Business’s own service, not general response-time or quote-validity benchmarks.
- BigCommerce B2B Edition: Its support material describes quote lines with quantities, SKU and variant information, product-specific notes, discounts, and a separate message exchange. Its API documentation also describes custom line pricing, custom products, bespoke shipping, expiration, and checkout actions. The support article’s interface details may vary as the product changes.
- Adobe Commerce: Its documentation dated June 15, 2026 describes quote negotiation that can add or remove products, change quantities, apply line-item or quote discounts, change shipping, and add comments.
- Salesforce: Its help documentation describes buyers submitting cart products with quantities and target pricing, sellers revising a quote, and accepted quoted items being added to the cart at the approved price.
These examples show how particular platforms handle quotes; they do not establish a universal best platform. If you are choosing an implementation, check whether it supports multiple lines, the item identifiers and configurations your buyers need, negotiation details, quote expiration, and checkout or order conversion. Confirm that the functions fit your own commerce setup and user permissions.

Why not put the entire request in one message?
A message-only request leaves the seller to interpret product names, quantities, and variations from free-form text. Separate lines make the requested items and amounts visible in a shared structure. The vendor documentation describes quote workflows organized around products, quantities, prices, discounts, and totals, with messages attached to the quote.
