YouTube’s second video is commonly identified as My Snowboarding Skillz, uploaded on 23 April 2005 by an account using the handle “mw.” The available sources do not establish a verified real-world name for that uploader, so “mw” is as far as the public identification can responsibly go.
Which video is commonly identified as YouTube’s second upload?
My Snowboarding Skillz is commonly listed as the next video after YouTube’s first upload. In a 2025 retrospective, The Verge identifies the clip and attributes it to an account called “mw.”
The reference point is Me at the Zoo, which Guinness World Records identifies as YouTube’s first video. Jawed Karim, a YouTube co-founder, uploaded it on 23 April 2005. Guinness World Records and The Verge place the two early uploads on the same date.

The uploader is credited by the handle “mw,” but the sources reviewed do not verify a real-world name behind it. An account-history reference says the person has never been identified; that is a limit of the available record, not proof that nobody knows who the person is. The account-history reference is community-edited and should not be treated as an authoritative identity record.
#1 Best Overall
There is no verified statement from the uploader or named person’s account identifying “mw.” The handle should not be expanded into a guessed name or treated as a biography.
What happens in the clip?
The short video shows a snowboarding attempt that ends in a fall. The Verge describes it as YouTube’s first “fail” video. Published runtime descriptions differ slightly—The Verge gives 10 seconds, while the account-history reference lists 11—so the useful point is that it is a brief clip, not its exact second count.

How certain is the “second video” ordering?
The commonly reported sequence rests on Guinness World Records identifying Me at the Zoo as the first upload and The Verge identifying My Snowboarding Skillz as the next video. Those sources support the conventional answer to who uploaded the second YouTube video, but they do not provide YouTube’s complete server-side upload log. They therefore do not establish an exhaustive sequence that rules out every unrecorded or deleted intervening upload.
