The best WiiM settings depend on the result you want. For a strict bit-perfect signal, disable EQ, RoomFit, resampling, fades, input denoising, per-source volume and service volume normalization; enable Fixed Volume Output and leave gain controls neutral. For hi-res listening, also select the streaming service’s highest quality, choose an output format your DAC or receiver supports, and verify the track’s actual bit depth and sample rate in the WiiM Home app. If your priority is room correction or a preferred tonal balance, EQ and RoomFit can be useful, but they intentionally process the signal and the path is no longer bit-perfect.
Choose the result before changing settings
“Hi-res,” “bit-perfect” and “better sound” describe different targets. Hi-res refers to the resolution supplied by the recording and service. Bit-perfect means the streamer passes that data without changing its sample rate, bit depth or level. Sound quality can also mean a response that suits your room, speakers and hearing, which may require equalization or room correction.

There is no manufacturer or independent listening evidence establishing one configuration as universally better for every listener. The useful choice is the one that matches your goal and the capabilities of your complete playback chain.
Set up a strict bit-perfect path in WiiM Home
WiiM’s Help Center setup guide, modified January 15, 2026, describes bit-perfect playback as delivering audio exactly as recorded. Use this sequence in the WiiM Home app; menu names can vary by model, firmware and app version.

- Open the device controls. In WiiM Home, tap Devices, select the streamer, then open its device settings.
- Turn off signal-shaping features. Disable EQ and RoomFit. Also disable Fade-In & Fade-Out Effects.
- Keep level controls neutral. Enable Fixed Volume Output. Leave Volume Limit at its default 100% and Volume Balance at 0.
- Prevent resampling on digital output. For SPDIF or coaxial output, choose 24-bit/192 kHz as the output ceiling only when the connected DAC or receiver supports it, then disable Fixed Resolution. With Fixed Resolution off, WiiM can pass the source sample rate and bit depth instead of converting every track to one format.
- Keep input gain unchanged. For audio inputs, leave Pre-Gain at 0 dB. When using optical or HDMI audio input, disable Optical/HDMI Audio De-noising and disable Per-Source Volume Control.
- Remove service-side level processing. Turn off volume normalization in TIDAL, Qobuz or Plex when those services are being used for a bit-perfect path. A normalization control in the service can alter level even when WiiM itself is not resampling.
These values describe an unaltered route, not a promise that every WiiM model exposes every option. The receiver or DAC still determines which formats can lock successfully. If it does not accept 24-bit/192 kHz, select a format within its specification rather than forcing the higher value.
Understand output resolution and why forcing 192 kHz does not add detail
WiiM documentation says optical and coaxial outputs support up to 24-bit/192 kHz, subject to downstream equipment compatibility. The same documentation identifies 48 kHz/16-bit as the default for compatibility with older receivers. These figures apply to the documented digital outputs; the available limits can differ by WiiM model, output type, firmware and connected equipment.
A 24/192 setting is an output capability or ceiling, not an upgrade for a CD-quality or compressed recording. If the source is 16-bit/44.1 kHz and Fixed Resolution is disabled, the source format can remain 16/44.1. If you force a fixed higher rate, WiiM must resample; it cannot recreate information that was not in the original recording. For bit-perfect playback, avoid that conversion.

A silent output, clicking or repeated lock/unlock usually indicates that the receiving device does not accept the selected format or that the cable/path is not carrying it reliably.

Configure the streaming service as well as the streamer
WiiM can only pass the quality it receives. Set quality in the service, make sure the account tier and specific recording include hi-res, and then verify what is actually playing. The Now Playing panel in WiiM Home can show the track’s bit depth and sample rate; use that display rather than assuming that a service label applies to every version of a song.
Qobuz
In WiiM Home, set the Qobuz quality to the highest level available to your account. WiiM states that its devices support Qobuz hi-res up to 24-bit/192 kHz when the subscription includes hi-res content. The recording itself must also be available at that resolution. Choose an output format your DAC or receiver accepts, start playback, and check Now Playing for the actual rate and bit depth.
Amazon Music
Sign in to Amazon Music through WiiM Home and enable HD/UHD in the service settings. WiiM documents support up to 24-bit/192 kHz on this path. If your internet connection cannot sustain HD/UHD and playback stops to buffer, WiiM recommends turning HD/UHD off; uninterrupted playback at a lower stream is more useful than repeated interruptions at a higher setting.
TIDAL
For a bit-perfect setup, disable TIDAL’s volume normalization. The maximum resolution depends on the particular TIDAL source and route, so do not assume that a Qobuz-specific 24/192 statement applies to every TIDAL stream. Confirm the value shown in Now Playing and check the receiving device’s input specification.

Apple Music from an iPhone
WiiM documents a limitation for wireless iPhone playback: AirPlay and Bluetooth do not provide bit-perfect high-resolution audio in the described setup. Its wired workaround requires all of the following:
- An iPhone with a USB-C connector.
- Apple Music’s Lossless Audio and Hi-Res Lossless options enabled in iPhone settings.
- A USB-C-to-optical adapter.
- A WiiM device with an optical input.
Connect the adapter to the iPhone, feed its optical output to the WiiM optical input, select that input, and verify the resulting format in the app. This sacrifices wireless convenience for the documented high-resolution route.
Use EQ and RoomFit when your goal is the room, not bit-perfect purity
EQ and RoomFit are not required for hi-res playback. They are tools for changing how the system sounds in your room. WiiM lists 24 preset EQ modes, a 10-band graphic EQ and parametric EQ, with profiles assignable to different inputs. Depending on the device, EQ controls appear in Now Playing, device settings or on a built-in screen.

RoomFit
RoomFit is intended to correct room response. Speaker placement still matters: move speakers and listening position first, then apply correction conservatively. RoomFit can make bass or midrange more even at the listening position, but the result depends on the room, measurement position and speakers. Because it changes the signal, leave it off whenever the requirement is strict bit-perfect playback.

Graphic and parametric EQ
Use a preset as a starting point, or make small, deliberate cuts and boosts with the 10-band graphic or parametric controls. Save separate profiles for inputs if one source or speaker arrangement needs a different correction. Large boosts can reduce headroom and cause clipping; lowering the overall level or using cuts instead can avoid that. There is no universal “best” EQ curve in the available WiiM documentation, so judge the result with familiar recordings at matched volume.
Decide where processing happens in an AV receiver system
An AVR may convert, equalize, normalize or apply surround effects after WiiM sends audio. WiiM’s AVR guidance describes two broad arrangements: send digital output so the receiver performs conversion, or use analog output with the receiver’s Pure Direct mode for the listed compatible devices. Which is preferable depends on the receiver and the effects you want.
- If WiiM performs EQ or RoomFit, avoid enabling an equivalent correction again in the AVR unless you intentionally want both.
- If the AVR performs room correction, keep WiiM’s EQ and RoomFit off and let the receiver be the single processing stage.
- For a digital bit-perfect source path, disable WiiM processing and confirm whether the AVR itself applies DSP; an AVR’s “direct” label does not automatically mean every stage is bypassed.
- Keep volume control in one place where practical. Fixed Volume Output on WiiM is appropriate when the receiver or preamplifier controls level.
Check the model-specific WiiM and AVR instructions before choosing analog or digital output; the correct path is system-specific.

Verify the result instead of trusting a quality badge
- Start a track known to have a stated resolution in the service.
- Open WiiM Home’s Now Playing panel and note the reported bit depth and sample rate.
- Compare that value with the DAC or receiver’s input display, if it provides one.
- Check that the network remains stable for several tracks, especially with HD/UHD enabled.
- Change one setting at a time, replay the track and record the result. This makes it easier to identify a resampler, unsupported format or service-side control.
A service’s “hi-res” badge identifies the available stream, not necessarily the format reaching the converter. The source master, the selected service version, WiiM’s output path and the downstream device all affect the final signal.

Troubleshooting common problems
Playback stops or buffers
Reduce the service quality temporarily, or turn off Amazon Music HD/UHD as WiiM recommends for limited bandwidth. Improve the network connection before treating interruptions as a reason to force a lower output resolution; output resolution and network delivery are separate controls.
The DAC reports a different rate
Confirm that Fixed Resolution is disabled for SPDIF/coax, check the service’s quality setting and inspect the Now Playing value. If the DAC cannot accept the selected ceiling, choose a supported format. Also check whether an AVR or other device in the middle is resampling.
The sound is quieter after enabling Fixed Volume Output
Fixed Volume Output is intended to hand level control to the downstream amplifier or receiver. Set listening level there, and verify that Volume Limit remains at 100% and Balance at 0. Do not compensate by adding digital gain if the downstream device is simply set too low.

That is expected. Keep the processing if the room or tonal balance is your priority; switch it off only when preserving the source data unchanged is more important. Treat these as two valid listening goals rather than a universal ranking.
Bottom line
For unaltered hi-res playback, select the service’s best available source, disable WiiM and service processing, leave Fixed Resolution off, use a format your DAC or receiver supports, and verify the actual rate in Now Playing. For the best sound in a particular room, use EQ or RoomFit deliberately and make one device responsible for correction. The setting that improves your system is the one that serves your chosen goal without exceeding the limits of the source, network or downstream hardware.
