There is no evidence-backed universal winner. The weapon worth amplifying in ARC Raiders is usually the one you already shoot well, provided its branch fixes a specific problem: stronger PvP utility against Raiders, better performance against ARC machines, or a meaningful change to handling, fire mode, ammunition or magazine capacity. Embark presents Amplified Weapons as a way to create more viable choices, not as a guaranteed damage multiplier for the weapons already at the top.
The clearest official examples are a fully automatic Burletta, a scoped Renegade, and a Rattler with incendiary rounds and a 64-round magazine. Each is worth considering for a different loadout goal. None has been established as the strongest option in every fight, and the live balance can change.
What Amplified Weapons change
Amplification is a fifth quality tier unlocked through the Outpost’s Research Workstation. Embark’s September 23, 2026 preview says a fully upgraded Research Workstation gives access to that fifth tier for a range of guns. Instead of offering only a small statistical improvement, the system adds branching abilities or enhancements that can substantially alter how a weapon behaves.

Embark announced 15 weapons in the launch scope. That is the number identified for the initial release, not a permanent limit; additional weapons are planned. Because the sources available for this guide do not contain controlled, current tests of every branch, a tier-list answer would be misleading. Read the branch as a role choice first and a power increase second.
Choose by target and job, not by rarity alone
Before spending a rare module or research materials, define the job the amplified weapon must perform. A branch that is excellent in a Raider fight may be awkward against ARC armor, while a change that helps clear machines may not improve a close-quarters player-versus-player encounter.

Weapon classes still provide a useful starting point: controlled-burst rifles generally reward deliberate medium-range shots, while shotguns emphasize close-range pressure. Those descriptions indicate broad roles, not proof that one class or branch currently wins more fights.

The three official examples and when they make sense
Burletta: choose the automatic branch for a genuine close-range sidearm role
Embark’s example turns the Burletta into a fully automatic pistol. That is a fundamental change in use, not merely a numerical bump. It is worth investigating if your loadout needs a sidearm that can deliver sustained close-range fire while you move, finish a damaged opponent or react quickly after a primary weapon runs dry.
The automatic path is less compelling if you already prefer careful single shots, if its ammunition economy conflicts with your scavenging route, or if your primary weapon already covers the same distance and response time. The official material confirms the option, but does not establish its damage, recoil, time-to-kill or ammunition efficiency relative to other amplified weapons. Test the handling in the live game before treating it as a main weapon.
Renegade: choose the scope when sight picture is the limiting factor
The Renegade is presented with a scoped configuration. A scope can make a lever-action battle rifle more suitable for players who take deliberate, longer-range engagements or who need a clearer sight picture before committing to a shot. It may also let the weapon cover a distance that your unscoped configuration handles poorly.

This branch is a role conversion, not evidence of a universal upgrade. A scoped rifle can be slower to use in cramped interiors, and the value depends on whether your normal routes provide sightlines long enough to exploit it. If most of your encounters happen at short range, the scope may solve a problem you do not have. No reviewed source proves that the scoped Renegade is the strongest branch in either PvP or PvE.

Embark’s Rattler example combines two notable possibilities: incendiary bullets and a 64-bullet magazine. Incendiary ammunition is the relevant choice when an ongoing damage effect or a particular interaction with targets improves your plan. The high-capacity magazine is the relevant choice when reload downtime, multiple targets or sustained pressure is the limiting factor.
Do not assume that the largest magazine is automatically best. A bigger capacity can change reload timing and resource use without solving accuracy, range or armor problems. Ammunition type also matters when you are considering ARC armor penetration, so compare the branch with the targets on your normal route. The sources identify the behaviors, but do not provide a current performance ranking for either Rattler path.

How PvP and PvE should change your choice
If your priority is PvP against Raiders
Favor a branch that changes the opening seconds of an encounter: a faster response, a sight picture that fits your preferred distance, or enough magazine capacity to maintain pressure while an opponent moves. The automatic Burletta can be a logical candidate for a player who repeatedly loses fights while swapping weapons or managing a slow sidearm. The scoped Renegade can suit a player who deliberately controls long lanes rather than forcing close-range pushes.
These are use-case recommendations, not claims of superior statistics. Your result will depend on recoil control, ammunition availability, map sightlines, squad coordination and the current balance patch. A branch that looks powerful on paper can be a poor choice if it makes you carry redundant weapons or prevents you from bringing the utility your team needs.
If your priority is PvE against ARC
Start with the ammunition and armor question. The relevant branch is the one that helps your chosen weapon interact with ARC targets reliably, not necessarily the one that wins a Raider duel. Incendiary Rattler ammunition may be worth testing when its effect addresses a concrete machine-fighting problem; a large magazine may be more useful when reload windows expose you to damage.

ARC encounters also reward planning around sustained damage, cover and resource consumption. Check the live weapon tree for the branch’s exact ammunition behavior and costs, then compare it with the ammo types already available in your expedition. The class label alone cannot establish armor performance.
If you regularly fight both
Choose the branch that improves the encounter you cannot already solve with another weapon in your kit. For example, a high-capacity option may cover sustained ARC pressure while your secondary handles Raiders, or a scoped rifle may cover open ground while a close-range primary handles interiors. Amplification is most valuable when it expands the number of situations your loadout can handle without making your two weapons compete for the same job.

The official announcements establish the Outpost and Research Workstation relationship, but they do not publish a complete list of material costs or every node requirement. A secondary guide updated October 11 reports the following prerequisites: an established Outpost, a Gunsmith and Research Station at level IV, a tier-IV weapon, and an Amplification Module matching the weapon’s rarity. It also reports additional research and material costs for nodes and says the final choice cannot be reverted.

Because those detailed requirements are guide-reported rather than fully specified in the official notes, use the guide as a planning reference and confirm the current requirements in your own Outpost. A patch can change costs, station levels or the permanence of a selection.
- Establish the Outpost. Continue the Outpost progression until the Research Workstation or Research Bench becomes available.
- Raise the required stations. Check the current in-game levels for the Gunsmith and Research Station. The October 11 guide reports level IV for each, but the live interface is the authority.
- Bring a tier-IV weapon. Open the weapon’s research tree and verify that the item qualifies before spending materials.
- Match the Amplification Module. The reported requirement is a module corresponding to the weapon’s rarity. Confirm the exact rarity and quantity shown in the current prompt.
- Inspect every branch and node. Read the full description, including ammo behavior, magazine changes, handling effects and any trade-off against Raiders or ARC.
- Commit only after checking reversibility. The secondary guide says amplification cannot be reverted. Treat that as a permanent loadout decision unless the live game explicitly says otherwise.
A practical decision process before you spend materials
- Record your real failure. Are you losing because you cannot sustain fire, cannot see targets clearly, cannot switch quickly enough, or cannot damage ARC armor efficiently? Name one problem.
- Identify the branch that directly addresses it. Prefer a behavior change over a vague expectation that the gun will simply hit harder.
- Separate target types. Mark whether the benefit applies mainly to Raiders, ARC or both. Grøndal’s explanation makes this trade-off part of the system’s purpose.
- Check overlap with your second weapon. If the amplified gun performs the same job as your other slot, the opportunity cost may exceed the benefit.
- Calculate the resource impact from the live screen. Include the module, research materials, ammunition and any node costs currently displayed.
- Practice the changed behavior before a high-value run. Automatic fire, a new scope or a larger magazine can alter recoil rhythm, reload timing and weapon swaps even when the branch sounds straightforward.
- Reassess after balance updates. Embark plans to add more weapons, and no reviewed source supplies a permanent ranking. A branch that fits your role today may need another look after a patch.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Chasing a tier list that does not exist. The available evidence does not include controlled, current comparisons of every amplified weapon.
- Equating amplification with raw damage. Embark specifically describes the goal as adding viable choices and variety, not simply increasing the output of already dominant guns.
- Ignoring the target. A Raider-focused branch may not be the best answer for ARC armor, and the reverse can also be true.
- Assuming the launch count is permanent. Fifteen weapons were announced for launch, with more planned.
- Trusting an old cost list. Detailed station levels, modules and material costs can change; verify them in the live Research Workstation.
- Committing before reading the final node. If the reported no-revert rule is still active, selecting the wrong branch can lock your weapon into a role you did not intend.
So, which weapons are worth amplifying?
Amplify the Burletta when a fully automatic pistol solves a real close-range or swap-speed problem. Choose the Renegade when a scope supports the distances and sightlines you actually play. Choose the Rattler when incendiary ammunition or a 64-round magazine addresses a defined PvE, PvP or uptime requirement. For every other weapon, open the current in-game tree and apply the same test: target, role change, loadout fit, resource cost and permanence.
Those recommendations are conditional because that is how the system is designed. Embark’s stated goal is more variety in PvP and PvE, and the available evidence does not identify one amplified weapon as objectively best. Your best choice is the branch that expands your reliable options in the fights you take most often.
