Restart your Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet to exit Safe Mode; it should reboot normally. If the “Safe mode is on” notification appears, you can also swipe down, tap that notification, then tap “Turn off.”
Exit Safe Mode with a restart
Samsung’s general instruction is to restart the phone or tablet: it will reboot in normal mode. Use the power menu on your device and select Restart. The menu and button route can vary by model and software version. Samsung’s US guide describes both the restart method and the notification shortcut: Power on your Galaxy phone or tablet in safe mode.
On some Galaxy models, you can open the power menu by pressing the Side and Volume down keys together, then choosing Restart. Samsung documents that route for its Philippines support guidance, so it should not be assumed to work on every model: How to use Safe Mode on Galaxy phone.

Use the Safe Mode notification instead
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to open notifications.
- Tap Safe mode is on.
- Tap Turn off when prompted.
This option is available when the notification is present. Wording and screen details may differ with your model, carrier, and software version; if you do not see it, restart the device instead. Samsung documents both ways to exit on its Safe Mode support page.

What to expect when Safe Mode ends
Samsung notes that some customization settings, including wallpapers and themes, may return to their defaults when you leave Safe Mode. Its guidance does not say that this exit process erases personal files.
If the phone keeps returning to Safe Mode
Safe Mode disables third-party apps so you can check whether an app is behind a problem. If the issue you were investigating disappears in Safe Mode, a downloaded app may be responsible. Remove apps installed or updated around the time the problem began, one at a time, and check whether normal operation returns after each removal. Samsung outlines this troubleshooting approach in its One UI 7 software update concerns guidance.

If the same problem continues in Safe Mode, or the device still has startup trouble, an app is less likely to explain it. Samsung’s US troubleshooting guidance says a hardware issue is more likely when a problem persists in Safe Mode and recommends seeking service. For startup failures or a boot loop, follow Samsung’s Galaxy startup and boot-loop guidance. Do not start with a factory reset just to turn Safe Mode off; the documented exit steps are a restart or the notification shortcut.
