Diablo IV does not have an officially established native VR mode in the Blizzard and platform materials checked for this guide. The practical approach is to run the Windows PC game and stream it to a compatible headset, where it appears on a virtual screen. That gives you a large headset display, not motion-controlled, room-scale Diablo gameplay.
You therefore need to satisfy two separate checklists: Diablo IV’s own PC requirements and the requirements for the PC-to-headset streaming method. Meeting only one checklist does not guarantee a smooth result.
What “Diablo in VR” means here
Blizzard’s published specifications describe Diablo IV as a conventional PC game. They specify monitor resolutions, graphics presets and frame-rate targets; they do not specify headset rendering, tracked controllers or a VR mode. The official materials checked on October 13, 2026 do not establish native Diablo IV VR support.
Recommended Free Tools
A supported practical route is to launch Diablo IV on a Windows PC and use a Quest headset as a streamed display. Steam Link can stream Steam games to Quest 2, Quest 3 and Quest Pro. In that arrangement, the game remains the PC version. The headset functions as the display and streaming endpoint, so you should not expect stereoscopic, room-scale or motion-controlled Diablo combat.

This distinction matters when choosing hardware. A headset cannot compensate for an underpowered gaming PC, and a PC that meets Diablo’s minimum may still fall short of the graphics and network headroom needed for comfortable streaming.
Which headsets are compatible?
Quest 2, Quest 3 and Quest Pro through Steam Link
Meta’s Steam Link listing names Quest 2, Quest 3 and Quest Pro as supported headsets for streaming Steam games from a PC. You still need a Windows computer with Steam and SteamVR installed, plus a network that meets Meta’s requirements.
The listing establishes compatibility with the streaming application; it does not establish that any of these models renders Diablo IV natively in VR or that one model delivers better Diablo performance. Visual quality, comfort and latency depend on headset settings, the PC and the network.

Meta’s device comparison lists Quest 3 and Quest 3S as supporting PC VR through Meta Quest Link, either by cable or Air Link. A wired Link setup uses a compatible USB-C cable, but cable suitability depends on the headset and the ports on your computer. Check those details before buying a cable rather than assuming that every USB-C lead supports the same connection.

Quest 3S is therefore a current headset option for a virtual-screen PC setup through Quest Link. The Steam Link listing cited here names Quest 2, Quest 3 and Quest Pro, so do not treat that listing as confirmation that every Quest model supports Steam Link.
Diablo IV PC requirements
Blizzard published four PC tiers. These targets describe the game at particular settings and resolutions, not a VR stream. The minimum target is 1080p native resolution with a 720p render resolution, low settings and 30 frames per second.
| Diablo IV tier | Operating system and API | Processor | Memory | Graphics | Target and storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 64-bit Windows 10 version 1909 or newer; DirectX 12 | Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-8350 | 8 GB RAM | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660, AMD Radeon R9 280 or Intel Arc A380 | 1080p native/720p render, low settings, 30 fps; SSD with 90 GB available; broadband internet |
| Medium | 64-bit Windows 10 version 1909 or newer; DirectX 12 | Intel Core i5-4670K or AMD Ryzen 3 1300X | 16 GB RAM | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 470-class | 1080p, medium settings, 60 fps |
| High | 64-bit Windows 10 version 1909 or newer; DirectX 12 | Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X | 16 GB RAM | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT-class | 1080p, high settings, 60 fps |
| Ultra 4K | 64-bit Windows 10 version 1909 or newer; DirectX 12 | Processor requirement is not separately specified in the cited tier | 32 GB RAM | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT-class | 4K ultra target; SSD with 90 GB available; broadband internet |
Steam’s listing repeats the base minimum and recommended levels: 8 GB RAM with a GTX 660, R9 280 or Arc A380 at minimum, and 16 GB RAM with a GTX 970, RX 470 or Arc A750 at the recommended level. It also lists DirectX 12, broadband internet and an SSD with 90 GB available.
Blizzard’s 30-fps minimum is a game target on a conventional display. It is not a promise of 30 fps in a headset, because streaming adds encoding, transmission and decoding work and may require different output settings.

PC requirements for the streaming path
Meta lists separate Steam Link requirements. Its minimum streaming baseline is Windows 10 or newer, Steam and SteamVR, an NVIDIA GTX 970 or better, and a 5 GHz Wi-Fi 5 router. Supported headsets in that listing are Quest 2, Quest 3 and Quest Pro.
Meta’s recommended setup raises the bar to an Intel Core i5-4590 or AMD FX-8350 equivalent or better, 16 GB RAM, an NVIDIA RTX 2070 or AMD RX 6600 or better, a Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E router, and a PC connected to the network by wire.
| Steam Link item | Minimum listed by Meta | Recommended by Meta |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | Windows 10 or newer | Windows 10 or newer |
| Software | Steam and SteamVR | Steam and SteamVR |
| Processor | Not separately specified in the minimum listing | Intel Core i5-4590 or AMD FX-8350 equivalent or better |
| Memory | Not separately specified in the minimum listing | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GTX 970 or better | NVIDIA RTX 2070 or AMD RX 6600 or better |
| Router | 5 GHz Wi-Fi 5 | Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E |
| PC network connection | Not separately specified in the minimum listing | PC connected by wire to the network |
These figures are compatibility and streaming baselines, not a combined Diablo performance guarantee. For example, a GTX 970 meets Meta’s minimum Steam Link GPU figure and appears in Diablo’s medium tier, but the final experience still depends on the chosen Diablo settings, headset resolution, encoder load and wireless conditions.
Wired versus wireless connection
Wireless Steam Link
Use wireless Steam Link when your network can sustain a stable headset stream. Meta’s minimum is a 5 GHz Wi-Fi 5 router. Its recommendation is Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E, with the gaming PC connected to the router by Ethernet or another wired network connection. The headset remains wireless, while the wired PC connection removes one wireless hop.

- Install Steam and SteamVR on the Windows PC.
- Install or open Steam Link on the supported Quest headset.
- Put the headset and PC on the same local network, preferably with the PC wired to a Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E router.
- Start Steam Link, pair it with the PC and launch Diablo IV from the Steam library if your copy is installed there.
- If the image stutters, reduce the game’s resolution or graphics preset before assuming that a new headset is required; then check wireless signal quality and whether the PC is using a wired connection.
Wired Quest Link
A cable can avoid the headset’s Wi-Fi transmission path. Meta documents Quest Link with a compatible USB-C cable. Compatibility depends on the Quest model, your computer’s ports and the cable’s capabilities, so verify those three points together.
- Confirm that your Quest model and PC support the documented Quest Link connection.
- Connect the headset with a compatible USB-C cable.
- Use the Quest Link PC setup to connect the headset to Windows.
- Launch Diablo IV on the PC and view it through the headset’s PC interface.
Quest Link changes the connection method; it does not convert Diablo IV into a native VR game. The PC still renders the ordinary game, and the headset shows that output.

If you already own a gaming PC
- Check Windows 10 version 1909 or newer, DirectX 12 support, 90 GB of free SSD space and broadband internet.
- Compare the processor, RAM and GPU with Diablo’s desired tier.
- Separately compare the GPU, memory, Steam/SteamVR software and router with Meta’s Steam Link baseline if you plan to stream wirelessly.
- For a more dependable wireless starting point, target Meta’s recommended RTX 2070 or RX 6600 GPU level, 16 GB RAM, Wi-Fi 6/6E and a wired PC connection.
If you are buying or upgrading
Prioritize the graphics card first when your current GPU is below either the Diablo tier you want or Meta’s streaming baseline. A system aimed only at Diablo’s minimum tier may run the game at low settings, but it leaves less headroom for encoding and streaming. Sixteen gigabytes of RAM is the level named in Diablo’s medium and high tiers and Meta’s recommended Steam Link setup; 32 GB is specified for Blizzard’s ultra 4K tier.

Common mistakes and fixes
Assuming a headset adds native VR support
Quest compatibility means that the PC display can be streamed. It does not prove that Blizzard added VR rendering or tracked-controller support. Plan for a virtual monitor experience.
Using only Diablo’s minimum specification
The GTX 660, 8 GB RAM and low-setting target are for the game at 1080p native/720p render and 30 fps. They do not satisfy Meta’s GTX 970 Steam Link minimum. If you want wireless streaming, check both lists.
Ignoring the network
Wireless play is sensitive to the local network. Meta specifies 5 GHz Wi-Fi 5 as the minimum and Wi-Fi 6/6E with a wired PC as the recommendation. If your stream is unstable, test the PC’s wired connection and router standard before replacing the headset.

Expecting a guaranteed frame rate
Blizzard’s 30-fps and 60-fps figures apply to its stated PC tiers and settings. No hands-on test establishes a particular headset frame rate for Diablo IV, so treat those numbers as game-side targets rather than VR-stream promises.
Bottom line
For the documented virtual-screen route, choose a Quest 2, Quest 3 or Quest Pro for Steam Link, or a Quest 3/3S for the documented Quest Link PC connection. Build or check the PC against Diablo IV’s own tier, then separately verify Meta’s streaming requirements. A practical wireless target is at least Meta’s recommended RTX 2070 or RX 6600 graphics level, 16 GB RAM, Wi-Fi 6/6E and a wired PC connection. None of these choices establishes native Diablo IV VR; they stream the standard PC game into the headset.
