Great League: Mega Edition is scheduled for October 6–13, 2026, and November 3–10, 2026; the first window is active on October 8. Pokémon must be at or below 1,500 CP, and Mega-Evolved Pokémon are allowed. The teams below are recommendations from a guide updated October 6, not measured rankings or guaranteed wins. Check the official schedule and format rules before building a team, especially after the October 13 window ends.
How Great League: Mega Edition changes team building
The 1,500 CP cap applies to eligible Pokémon in this special format, but a Mega Pokémon’s ordinary displayed CP is not necessarily its battle CP. Niantic says Mega Pokémon’s CP is temporarily reduced for the Great League and Ultra League Mega Editions and restored after battle. Mega Pokémon are normally excluded from GO Battle League; this edition is a special event exception. Niantic’s Twilight Trails update explains the format, while the Mega Evolution help article covers the usual restriction and event exception.

Before spending resources, check move availability. Several moves in the recommended lineups are marked event- or Elite TM-exclusive in the guide. Mega Evolution also requires Mega Energy the first time; later evolutions of that same Pokémon cost less over time. A Mega form lasts eight hours. You can Mega Evolve from the GO Battle League Battle Party selection screen: Niantic says, “You can also Mega Evolve a Pokémon from the Raid Battle Lobby or when selecting your GO Battle League Battle Party.” See Niantic’s Mega Evolution instructions for details.

Three recommended teams and their moves
These are the lineups and matchup notes in Akash Sil’s Sportskeeda guide, modified October 6, 2026. Its weaknesses and threat lists are useful prompts for considering coverage, not assurances about individual battle outcomes. The guide does not supply simulation settings, win rates, usage figures, or a comparative ranking. Read the team guide.

Mimikyu, Altaria, and Melmetal
- Mimikyu (lead): Shadow Claw, Shadow Sneak, Play Rough
- Altaria: Dragon Breath, Flamethrower, Moonblast
- Melmetal: Thunder Shock, Double Iron Bash, Dynamic Punch
The guide flags Ghost and Ice weaknesses and names Stunfisk, Dunsparce, Marowak, Clodsire, and Mega Dragonite as threats. It describes the team as having broad strengths and coverage. Moonblast and Double Iron Bash are marked event- or Elite TM-exclusive, so confirm you can obtain the moves before committing resources.
Mimikyu, Corviknight, and Mega Sableye
- Mimikyu (lead): Shadow Claw, Shadow Sneak, Play Rough
- Corviknight: Sand Attack, Air Cutter, Iron Head
- Mega Sableye: Shadow Claw, Dazzling Gleam, Foul Play
The guide lists Electric, Fire, and Ghost as weaknesses, with Melmetal, Umbreon, Jumpluff, Furret, and Cramorant as threats. It characterizes the lineup as applying offensive pressure early, while cautioning that Mega Sableye’s added bulk does not improve the team’s overall bulk much. Air Cutter and Iron Head are marked event- or Elite TM-exclusive.

- Mimikyu (lead): Shadow Claw, Shadow Sneak, Play Rough
- Shadow Ninetales: Ember, Weather Ball (Fire), Energy Ball
- Melmetal: Thunder Shock, Double Iron Bash, Dynamic Punch
The guide identifies Ghost, Ground, and Water weaknesses and names Marowak, Vigoroth, Shadow Sableye, Araquanid, and Dunsparce as threats. It describes this lineup as more aggressive and less bulky, trading durability for pressure. Ember, Energy Ball, and Double Iron Bash carry the guide’s event- or Elite TM marker.

- Check what you can build. Exclusive or event-marked moves can change the cost of assembling a lineup. Verify current move availability in game before using TMs or investing in a Pokémon.
- Weigh pressure against durability. The guide specifically characterizes the Shadow Ninetales team as aggressive with little bulk, and says the Mega Sableye team gains little overall bulk from its Mega slot.
- Use threat lists to test coverage. Consider which named opponents you are encountering and whether your three Pokémon have answers across the lineup. A listed threat is a warning to evaluate, not proof of a guaranteed loss.
- Account for Mega Energy and timing. Mega Evolution lasts eight hours, so plan the evolution around your play session. The first evolution costs Mega Energy; subsequent evolutions of that same Pokémon require less over time.
What the newer third Charged Attack means
A Pokémon.com feature dated October 2, 2026, says Super Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon received access to a third Charged Attack following the 2026 Pokémon World Championships. That may affect team composition and battle decisions for Pokémon meeting that condition, but the feature does not rank Great League: Mega Edition teams or quantify their performance. Treat it as a specific battle-system consideration, not evidence that one of the three lineups is stronger. Read the Pokémon.com feature.
