The best smart doorbell depends on your wiring, preferred smart-home platform, storage needs and willingness to pay for a subscription. The seven models below make a useful shortlist, but they have not been compared in a standardized test, so treat the distinctions as buyer-fit guidance—not a universal performance ranking.
What to compare before choosing a video doorbell
Smart doorbells pair a doorbell with a camera and commonly offer live viewing, event notifications and two-way audio. Their headline resolution or field of view does not, by itself, establish which one produces better real-world footage: the available sources do not provide a like-for-like comparison of all seven models.
- Power and installation: Check whether the exact model uses a rechargeable or replaceable battery, existing wiring, or either option. Verify transformer requirements, chime compatibility and whether your lease allows the mounting method.
- Coverage: Compare the camera’s field of view and vertical coverage with your entryway. For packages, also check whether the model offers relevant detection; a wide-angle specification alone does not establish package-detection performance.
- Storage and fees: Find out what recording and event-history features work without a subscription, whether storage is local or cloud-based, and what the current plan costs for your region.
- Compatibility: Confirm the exact model’s Wi-Fi band, phone and smart-home support, smart-display support, and compatibility with your existing transformer and chime.
Seven smart doorbells to consider in 2026
This is a shortlist rather than a tested ranking. Product names, generations, specifications and subscription terms can vary by country, so verify the exact local model before buying.
| Model | What the available evidence supports | Potential fit | Check before buying |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ring Battery Doorbell Pro (2nd Gen) | Ring’s product and support pages describe head-to-toe video, two-way talk, motion detection and 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi. Its support listing gives a 150° horizontal and 150° vertical field of view; confirm that the specification applies to the generation and regional model you are considering. Some features require a subscription. Ring support; Ring product page | Someone looking for a battery model with motion features and broad vertical coverage. | Ring naming and regional listings vary; a product page redirected to a European 4K listing. Do not assume the US or another region’s unit is 2K or 4K without checking the exact listing and generation. |
| Google Nest Doorbell (battery) | Google specifies 960 × 1280 HD video, a 145° diagonal field of view, a rechargeable battery and two-way audio. Wi-Fi bands vary by region. Wiring can support a chime and recharging, subject to a temperature-related charging caveat. Google specifications and installation information | A Google Home household comfortable with the model’s recording and cloud-storage arrangements. | Check regional Wi-Fi specifications, chime setup, charging conditions and current plan details. |
| eufy Video Doorbell E340 | eufy’s buying guide positions the E340 as offering local storage without a required monthly plan. This should not be generalized to every eufy doorbell. eufy buying guide | A buyer prioritizing a local-storage option and avoiding a required monthly plan. | Confirm the exact model’s storage capacity, included features and current terms; these details are not established here. |
| Aqara Smart Doorbell Camera G410 | T3’s 2026 awards coverage identifies it as its best smart video doorbell for 2026 and reports 2K video and a 175° field of view. That is T3’s award judgment and stated specification, not an independent universal verdict or measurement by this article. T3 awards coverage | A possible candidate for someone who values a wide stated field of view and wants to consider an editorially selected model. | Do not confuse the G410 with the G4: the G4’s documented battery and transformer options belong to a different model. Verify G410 power, storage, compatibility and fees from its current regional documentation. |
| Arlo Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) | Arlo’s US page describes wired or wireless installation, live streaming and notifications, and specifies a 180° field of view. TechRadar reports that some recording and missed-event review features require Arlo Secure. Arlo US product page; TechRadar review | A buyer who wants to consider both wired and wireless installation. | Confirm whether the exact SKU is HD or 2K, and check current plan requirements and regional availability. |
| Reolink Video Doorbell (Battery) | T3 includes the model in its 2026 shortlist. T3 awards coverage | A candidate to investigate if a battery doorbell is on your shortlist. | The cited coverage does not establish detailed technical specifications, storage terms or subscription requirements. Confirm these with Reolink’s current product information. |
| Blink Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) | T3 includes the model in its 2026 shortlist. T3 awards coverage | A candidate to investigate if you are considering a second-generation doorbell. | The cited coverage does not establish detailed technical specifications, storage approach or subscription terms. Confirm these with Blink’s current product information. |
Choose by your installation and ownership priorities
If you rent or cannot use existing wiring
Start with battery-powered options, then check how each unit mounts and whether the approach is allowed by your lease. Battery operation avoids relying on existing doorbell wiring, but it introduces a charging or battery-replacement routine; the exact arrangement varies by model. Arlo’s US second-generation page describes both wired and wireless installation, while Google documents a rechargeable battery and wiring-related chime and recharging support.

If you already have a wired doorbell
Do not assume that an existing wire makes a doorbell compatible. Check transformer voltage and the existing chime requirements against the exact model’s installation documentation. Aqara’s G4 page documents separate battery and transformer power options for the G4; that information does not establish the G410’s requirements.
If you want to avoid a required subscription
Compare the features available without payment—not just whether a company advertises local storage or a battery model. eufy’s guide presents the E340 as offering local storage without a required monthly plan, while Ring and Arlo sources flag subscription-dependent features. Confirm the current plan, recording history and included alerts for your exact model and country.

If privacy and local recording matter most
Look at where recordings are stored, how long events remain available, what leaves the home network, and which cloud features or account settings are involved. “No subscription required” does not, on its own, answer those privacy questions.

If you want to see packages or more of the entryway
Compare vertical coverage and package-related detection rather than choosing on resolution alone. Published field-of-view figures are not directly interchangeable when one is diagonal and another is given as horizontal and vertical, and they do not substitute for side-by-side footage in your actual mounting position.

Verify the exact product before ordering
- Match the generation and region: Use the full model name and generation on the manufacturer’s local page; check that a retailer’s listing describes the same unit.
- Check power and chime: Confirm battery or wiring requirements, transformer compatibility, existing-chime support and any charging limitations.
- Check network and ecosystem support: Verify Wi-Fi band and compatibility with your phone, smart-home platform and any display you plan to use.
- Map the recording features: Separate live view and notifications from saved recordings, event history and advanced alerts; identify which require a plan.
- Calculate ownership costs: Include any recurring plan cost and, for battery-operated models, the practical effort or expense of keeping the doorbell powered. Prices and plan terms are region- and date-dependent.
